Chapter 83
Chapter 83 Go Home
Suddenly, the unmistakable roar of a luxury sports car engine echoed through the air.
Among the sleek cars, a stunning cobalt blue coupe pulled up in front of Gwen and Judy, Ryan stepped out of the passenger side, his right hand still in a cast. “Hey, Gwen! I’m here!”
Gwen’s eyes immediately landed on Ryan’s injured arm, concern flickering in her gaze. “Your hand isn’t even healed yet, and you’re running around.”
She had snuck back to Bellmont City, hoping Ryan would stay in Findley and get proper rest. But, of course, he had followed her anyway.
“I missed you. Besides, I’ve got nothing else to do while I’m hurt. How could I not come back to keep you company?“Ryan replied.
Ryan shot a cold glance at Jake as if staking his claim before signaling the driver to hand Gwen the car keys. “You’re driving today.”
“Do you still trust me?” Gwen hesitated as she held the keys, a flicker of doubt crossing her eyes. Ever since the accident, Gwen had been haunted by nightmares–of losing Ryan or never seeing her family again, all thanks to Sienna.
“Of course. It’s all behind us now.” Ryan nudged her shoulder playfully.
“Sure. Let me take your new car for a spin.” Gwen gave a soft smile. It was true–everything had passed. Sienna wouldn’t dare try anything again. Gwen was in control of her fate; she wouldn’t lose to mere shadows of the past.
Before leaving, Ryan locked eyes with Jake, his gaze colder than ever. “Keep your mistress in line. Don’t assume we won’t handle it ourselves if Sienna steps out of line again. Gwen only let the police handle the accident because she has principles.”
Jake felt frustration churn in his chest. He shouted at Gwen, “Once the baby is born, I’ll leave Sienna!”
Gwen didn’t react, and her silence fueled Jake’s growing desperation. “Can’t we just forget everything and start over?”
Before he could finish, Gwen stopped in her tracks. His heart skipped a beat. Was she waiting for him to come to his senses?
But then Gwen turned, a teasing smile on her lips as she approached Jake. She raised an eyebrow, then, without warning, stomped down on his foot, her heel digging hard into his shoe. She twisted it for good
measure.
“Does it hurt?” Gwen asked, her gaze locked onto his. “Are you awake yet? If not, go home and dream!” Jake held his foot, frowning in frustration. He had hoped for too much. After everything he’d put her through, how could a simple plea undo it all?
‘Let’s go,” Gwen said, pulling her heel free as she walked away with Ryan and Judy.
After dropping Judy off at home, they headed to the Lawson residence. Halfway there, Ryan complained about pain in his hand. Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Swen panicked and immediately drove to the hospital,
ifter an examination in the emergency department, the doctor assured her it was just fatigue. Only then id Gwen relax. Ryan’s exhaustion was inevitable after enduring a long–haul flight.
Meanwhile, the doctor on the other side of the hospital bed pulled back the curtain and stated plainly, “It’s just normal fetal movement, nothing to worry about.”
Sienna gently placed a hand on her stomach, relief washing over her face. “As long as everything’s okay.”
Since the car accident was exposed, Jake’s attitude toward her had worsened. This baby was now her. only lifeline.
Ryan lifted his gaze and locked eyes with Sienna, who was in the bed next to him. A faint, unreadable smirk played on his lips. “Hey, Gwen, want me to help you settle a score?”
Here? What score?
Gwen was unaware of what was happening as she had her back to Ryan.
Sienna, feeling Ryan’s gaze, lifted her head.
Jealousy sparked when Sienna saw Gwen standing across the room, looking radiant. Remembering how Gwen had stolen the spotlight that evening, Sienna straightened up. “Gwen, give me back my grandpa’s ring!”
Finally understanding Ryan’s earlier remark, Gwen glanced over but had no desire to engage. She calmly helped Ryan up, ready to leave.
“I’m talking to you! Didn’t you hear me?” Sienna hurried forward, stepping in front of Gwen to block her path.
