Chapter 82
Chapter 82 Remember to Kneel
The crowd’s attitude shifted instantly. They had initially thought Anthony was a man of integrity, but it turned out he wasn’t much better than anyone else.

“Wow, he tried to cheat and got caught, but now he wants to back out? If no one had noticed, Gwen would’ve been blamed for nothing.”
“Forcing her to admit she was a mistress? That’s seriously low.”
“Even though we’re entertainment reporters, we don’t just write nonsense. Looks like Mr. Charles had lost his mind!”
“He talks all high and mighty, but it’s all worthless!”
Anthony’s temples throbbed as the whispers around him grew nastier by the second.
“Here is it!” With great reluctance, Anthony pried the ring from his finger. At first, he seemed ready to slam it on the table, but then, unable to part with it so roughly, he gently placed it in Gwen’s hand.
“You better hold onto it carefully. I’ll be coming to get it in a few days,” Anthony warned threateningly. “We’ll see about that when the time comes,” Gwen glanced at Judy, tilting her head slightly to signal they were ready to leave.
“Ms. Lawson, please wait. Let me find a proper box to keep the ring safe,” the waiter said, secretly enjoying the drama. Her admiration for Gwen was clear
“There’s no need for that. Do you have a plastic bag? That will do. It’s just something you put in your hand. Why be so careful?” Gwen’s nonchalant attitude shocked the room once again.
This was a priceless artifact, practically a national treasure, something Anthony had treated like his most precious possession. Yet, Gwen just tossed it into a plastic bag.
Anthony’s heart ached as he listened, but with the ring now out of his hands, he had no choice but to suppress his rage. He stormed out, visibly fuming, slamming his fists into his chair on his way out.
“Mr. Charles, don’t forget Sienna still owes me an apology–on her knees!” Gwen called after him right before he disappeared.
Anthony quickened his pace after hearing that.
Judy chuckled with satisfaction. “What a shame Sienna didn’t show up. If she had, we could’ve wrapped this up with her kneeling, and I could’ve gotten it all on tape.”
Gwen smiled. “There’s plenty of time for that. No rush.
“How are you so good at gambling, anyway?” Judy asked. She was genuinely curious for once.
“Well, back then, Ryan and I used to sneak off to the casinos. We’d stay there for months at a time, soaking it all in. After that, it was hard not to pick up some real skills. Ryan’s even better than me at cheating. I’ll have to get him to show you his tricks one day.”
Judy nodded, her professional Instincts already conjuring up a juicy headline–Superstar secretly a gambling king?
The thought of it topping the charts crossed her mind, but she knew better. She’d never spill the Lawson family’s secrets. Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
The two of them chatted and laughed as they stepped outside.
Jake stood by his car, tall and commanding. His custom–tailored sult emphasized his strong build, while his strikingly handsome face carried that untouchable air of elegance and aloofness.
Judy couldn’t help but think, “Well, if we’re talking looks, it’s no wonder women in Bellmont City go crazy
over Jake”
But Jake had nothing more than good looks. Living with someone like him could drive anyone mad. He wasn’t exactly husband material.
However, Gwen acted as if he weren’t even there. Her eyes scanned the area for her car.
Jake couldn’t help but stare at her. The color of her outfit tonight was unlike anything he’d seen her wear before, drawing him in. She looked like a dark, ethereal beauty.
The soft and yellow light at the entrance cast a gentle glow on her flawless shoulders, highlighting the smooth sheen of her skin.
Gwen stood there, laughing and chatting with someone. Every smile and glance stirred something deep within Jake.
“Where’s the ring?” Jake asked as he walked up to her.
Gwen glanced at him, her brow arching in mockery. “Wow, how obedient. Sent over to fetch something the minute you’re told?”
“You don’t need it. I’m willing to pay market value. Will a check do? Jake’s cold gaze remained fixed on “her. He hadn’t wanted to get involved, but Anthony had pressured him, using Joshua to force his hand.
Jake had no choice but to come.
“So, just because he sent you, you think I’m just going to hand it over?” Gwen lifted her chin, her posture elegant and icy, exuding even more of that untouchable grace.
“Getting ten billion out of nowhere isn’t a bad deal. Consider it compensation for our marriage,” Jake said. “Have you lost your mind?” Gwen shot him a disgusted look. ‘I won that ring. If you want to buy it, that’s fine, but not as compensation for our marriage. Are you trying to disgust me?”
Jake was at a loss for words, realizing how thoughtless his comment had been. Even though their relationship had ended long ago, he couldn’t help but bring up their marriage whenever he was around Gwen.
He felt that he had fallen into disgrace.
