I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 542

Chapter 542 Her Ex

The tension between the two men erupted completely, and Frank was not about to let Benjamin off easily.

He scoffed coldly, his words dripping with sarcasm, "So what if you rely on women? They are willing participants. Benjamin, you are far more pitiable. After all, Harper never loved you. Her heart belongs to her beloved ex, and she has no feelings for you. If you hadn't clung to her desperately refusing to divorce, do you think you'd still be married to her?"

Frank's words visibly darkened Benjamin's expression, the anger in his eyes unmistakable.

Although Benjamin knew Frank was deliberately provoking him, he couldn't help but wonder if Harper had confided in Frank.

He knew about Harper's ex-boyfriend and that she had married him to sever ties with her past, even sacrificing her marriage.ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

Just the thought unsettled him deeply, as he was unsure whether Harper still harbored feelings for her ex.

Nor did he know if Harper might consider divorcing him for her ex.

All these thoughts intensified his emotions. Narrowing his eyes, Benjamin responded icily, "No matter whom she thinks of, she is now me, Benjamin Martin's wife and carrying my child. What about you? You can only linger around her as a friend, which is frankly more pathetic and hypocritical."

Frank's face turned, "And how are you any better? If it weren't for Harper's grandmother, do you think she would have agreed to have your child? It's still uncertain whether she'll keep the baby after her grandmother's surgery is over."

"That's just your side of the story," Benjamin sneered, his demeanor growing stormier. He continued, "If she really didn't want the child, why didn't she terminate the pregnancy befored found out? Wouldn't that have been more certain? Why wait until I found it and start thinking about not wanting the child? Isn't that just making an enemy of me?"

After finishing, Benjamin let out a snort of derision, his expression growing darker by the moment. His gaze towards Frank became increasingly impatient as if he was on the verge of completely losing his temper.

Frank paused briefly, then began to

mislead Benjamin, saying, "That's

just your perception. You're not Harper; you can't possibly know what she's really thinking. I've known her longer than you have and understand her better! Do you really think you know her better than I do?"

"Does it matter?" Benjamin retorted. "Even if you know her well, would she distance herself from me for you? I don't think so. On the contrary, she would distance herself from you for me. That's a fact." Benjamin looked at him leisurely, a mocking smile curling his lips, leaving Frank at a loss for words.

The chill in the air didn't soften with the brief silence; instead, it grew even more tense.

The atmosphere was charged with palpable hostility and coldness as

Benjamin moved forward slowly, his lips twisted in a mocking smile.

"Frank Parker, you claim

know her

so well boast about knowing her longer, but have you ever considered? Even if you've known her for ages, she could never fall for you, let alone be with you, because someone of your status simply isn't worthy of her."

Benjamin emphasized "someone of your status," exacerbating Frank's insecurities and concerns.

Since his status was that of an adopted son in the Parker family, and because this was what Harper knew best about him, Frank wondered if Harper had told Benjamin everything.

Otherwise, Benjamin wouldn't say those things to provoke him.

Narrowing his eyes, a cold sneer formed on Frank's lips, "How do you know we haven't been together? How do you know her long-loved ex-boyfriend isn't me?"
