Chapter 1288
Pearl saw that he was starting to give in and felt relieved.
Once the other reporters had left, Pearl noticed that he hadn't made any move to leave either. She walked over to him.
"Excuse me, if I read correctly, you're from Exclusive Memory, right?"
The reporter, thinking he was quite well-known, puffed up his chest a bit. "So?"
Pearl frowned. "Do you know which company owns Exclusive Memory?"
"Of course I do."
"Then why would you dare to confront me?"
The reporter stood his ground. "When did I confront you? I just asked a few questions. You didn't even answer, did you?"
"Just a few questions? Your hostility is quite clear." Pearl scoffed, disgusted by the man's attitude.
"So, you're blaming me now?"
Pearl shook her head. "No, I'm not interested in that."Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
Thinking Pearl was backing down, the reporter softened slightly. "Exclusive Memory is part of a large group, so I'm sure you're smart enough not to make things hard for me."
Listening to his naive reasoning, Pearl smirked. "I think you misunderstood my point." "What do you mean then?"
"Your editor is Finnegan Fox, right?"
The reporter, trying to make sense of the connection, nodded hesitantly. "Yes, and?"
"Do you know he's a friend of mine?"
The reporter looked shocked. "How could you be friends? You two don't seem to have anything in common."
"You're just a junior reporter. How would you know who your editor is friends with?"
The reporter, now nervous, thought that even if Pearl knew Finnegan, she couldn't possibly get him fired. "But what does that have to do with this? Are you trying to get me fired? There are laws against that, you know."
Pearl couldn't help but laugh.
"Why are you laughing?" The reporter was getting irritated.
Too tired to argue, Pearl stared into his eyes with a calm but stern look. "Getting you fired is the least of your worries. I'm going to make it impossible for you to keep working here." Before the reporter could respond, Pearl gestured to someone. A man approached and took hold of the reporter's arms.
The bodyguard restrained him, and compared to his own size, the reporter looked tiny and helpless.
"What are you doing?" the reporter exclaimed.
Pearl glanced at the bodyguard, who knew exactly what to do next, then watched as he raised his hand and slapped the man.
"How could you hit me? Do you know I can press charges?"
Pearl ignored his protests and leaned in closer.
