Chapter 30: Adrian Peterson
Chapter 30: Adrian Peterson
I looked around, observing the people around me and how elegant and wealthy they were. I smiled. I once dreamt of being in this spot, and now I'm already here.
"Ms Stewart, how lovely you are tonight." A woman in her 50s offered her hand to me, and I willingly accepted it.
Before, people didn't recognize me because I wasn't the same as them. But now, they were talking about how successful I was and how I changed a lot.
"Thank you, Mrs. Victoria. You look stunning tonight, too." I smiled broadly, and she slightly beat me on my shoulder and smiled.
She's Mrs. Victoria, I am one of her investors. Though we don't see her often, we have a good relationship.
She's wearing a black dress designed for her age. I was invited to this party, and I was about to reject it when Sabrina begged me to attend. Not a close friend of mine but a friend in the business industry.
I just wore a red fitted dress enough to show some of my skin. I was the only one wearing this colour because Sabrina told me to wear it.
"Ms. Stewart, it's nice to see you here!" Mr. Chu greeted me, and I did the same.
He is a well-known successful business owner and one of our investors. In those five years of working in the business industry, I've met a lot of class people. One of them is Mr. Chu. He was the first who invested in our company and supported us.
"Mr. Chu! It's my pleasure to meet you. How have you been?" I asked him, and he offered me a glass of drink, which I accepted.
"Great as always. I've been very busy, you know, in my business. You look gorgeous as always," he said, which made me chuckle.
He compliments me too much.
"Thank you. You look great tonight, Mr. Chu. Oh, wait! Where is Mrs. Chu?" I asked him, and he looked at the other side and told me where she was.
She was talking to Travis and Stacy. I'm surprised they are here, too. I went back to Mr. Chu and excused myself for a while.
I sit on the available chair while drinking champagne.
"Jasmine?" I smirked when I heard her voice. I was expecting her to see me. I turned around and looked at her, giving me weird looks, like she wasn't expecting to see me here, and she looked surprised. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
I can read her expression; she hated seeing me here.
"Ms. Froster, I didn't expect you to be here either." I smiled broadly. I can read her mind.
"What a surprise," she looked pissed and forced herself to smile. That made me enjoy watching her hate me.
Marcus couldn't stop looking at me, which made me feel irritated, and I could see that Stacy noticed it. But I acted like I didn't know anything.
"A friend invited me here, so I came," I chuckled while she looked pissed. I wanted to laugh because of her face. She's been looking at my outfit and even if she didn't tell me I know I was stunned tonight.
"Oh, really? This party is only for those who were born rich, and besides, I thought you were busy handling my wedding plan 'cause that's what only you should do," she said as if insulting me on that point. I laughed at her, and she knotted her forehead. I won't let you make fun of me, Stacy. Not anymore.
'You seem to have forgotten that
my world doesn't only turn to work with your wedding. I also have my personal business. And besides, you know nothing about it. So why waste time meddling in my life? Just focus on your own business and stop minding mine. Will you?" I smirk and put down my drink to have another
one.
A stupid thought flashed through my mind. I looked at Travis, who couldn't even dare to look away. I flipped my hair and slowly drank the Champagne my hand was placed on my shoulder.
I saw how he gulped and looked away while Stacy greeted her teeth, grabbed Travis's hand, and pulled him away from me.
I laughed, watching her feel threatened in my presence, and I had a bright idea.
I'm waking to look around when I bump into someone, and my drink is poured into his suit.
"I'm sorry I didn't see you. " I said in an anxious voice. I grabbed a tissue from the table and wiped it on his tuxedo on the left side of his suit.
"It's okay, Ms. " He said while he was trying to wipe it using his handkerchief. I distanced myself, bowed to him, and apologized.
I became careless at that moment. When I looked at him, he was staring at me like he had seen a ghost.
"Are you okay, sir?" I waved my hand in front of his face to make sure that he's alright, but he didn't even dare to blink.
I touched his shoulder and asked him if he was okay for the second time. That made him clear his throat and smile at me.
"I'm sorry I was careless and didn't
see you coming, by the way. This is
the first time I've seen you. I'm Paul Adrian Paul Peterson. And you are?” He extended his hand, and I е
accepted it as an apology forwhat I had done.
He looks friendly, or should I say womanizer, in my opinion. I already know a guy like him. That's only based on my own experience, and I hate to say that I'm judging him, but based on her appearance, he really looks like one of them.
"Jasmine, Jasmine Stewart. I'm sorry for what I did, Mr. Peterson. I didn't see you coming. I'll just pay for your suit." I offered him, but he just shook his head.
He playfully smiled, and I knew there was something wrong with his smile.
"Date me as compensation. How about that, Ms. Stewart?"
