When fate plays its hand

Chapter 0089

Deep down, Calvin blamed Sam for his lack of reservations. Two friends were fighting over the same woman, but it was Sam who revealed his cards first. Just what was going to happen?

Sam waved his hand nonchalantly. “You don’t need to give me advice. I’ll find out for myself whether it’s enjoyable if forced or not.”

After Miranda left the café, she went to the mall and bought a new scarf and a wool coat. Then, she went to the supermarket to buy groceries.

By the time she left, the sky was already dark. In the winter, the sun set very early. She couldn’t help but quicken her pace on her way home.

It was already pitch black outside when she reached the duplex lobby.

Suddenly, a silhouette rushed out from a dark corner. Thinking that it was a neighborhood thug, Miranda felt chills run down her spine, and the hairs on her body stand up.

However, when she saw that it was none other than Hansel, she let out a sigh of relief. Nonetheless, she couldn’t stop herself from frowning when she saw him stumbling around drunkenly.

Hansel had been waiting there for some time. His nose was already red from the cold.

Intoxicated, he grabbed Miranda’s hand. “Mimi…”

“Let go.” Miranda pulled away uncomfortably.

At some point, she stopped being able to accept his touch.

“I won’t let go unless you come back to me, alright?”

Miranda didn’t know where this madness had come from. “You’re drunk.”

“Mimi… I mean what I said…”

That was the second time a man had said that to her.

Hansel continued, “You asked me before if you would become the mistress. Now, I want to tell you that I’ve broken up with Ingrid. If you come back, I’ll pretend that the thing with Sam never happened.

“I apologize for crossing the line with my words yesterday. You can yell at me or hit me if you want…”

It was getting late, and there weren’t many pedestrians around anymore. According to the weather forecast, today was the coldest day this winter, and they should keep themselves warm.Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

Miranda hadn’t felt anything earlier, but now, she felt chills down her back. Even her breaths felt cold.

“I’m sorry,” she said, looking down. Her eyelashes trembled slightly. “We can’t go back to the way we were before.”

The stubborn and tough Hansel had finally bowed his head and yielded, but she didn’t want him anymore.

“With your stomach issues, you should drink less.” With that, she pulled her hand away and left.

Drink less…

She still cared about him!

Hansel’s eyes lit up. Just like before, she advised him to reduce his alcohol consumption. Did this mean that he still had a chance?

Thinking about this, he chased after her. Clutching her arm, he yanked her into his embrace. “Mimi, you still care about me, don’t you? Can we start afresh?”

As soon as he said that, he kissed her urgently.

Miranda’s eyes widened. She shoved him away and wiped her mouth in disgust. “Don’t touch me!”

Hansel froze. Miranda’s repulsion and loathing gaze felt like knives to his skin. Even though he was drunk, he suddenly felt cold.

Miranda said, “Actually, I’ve known all along that during our relationship, you cheated on me with more than one woman! Did you think you hid it well?

“Unfortunately, there’s no better detective than a woman in a relationship. Did you really think I never noticed the evidence that you didn’t manage to clean up?”

The first time she found a clue was when he had just returned from a business trip. While clearing out his suitcase, she found the corner of a condom packet. It was smaller than her fingernail, but she could immediately tell that it wasn’t the type that they usually used.
