Chapter 25 When You Got Nothing, You Got Nothing to Lose

Chapter 25 When You Got Nothing, You Got Nothing to Lose

After dinner, Isobel went in a jewelry store, picked a bracelet randomly, and went to Sunset Aegis Motel

with Eduard.

It was Ms. Sutton’s birthday, so even a rainy day couldn’t extinguish the enthusiasm of the party

attendants.

Luxury cars were parked everywhere outside of the motel. Isobel knew quite a lot of them.

The car stopped, she moved her eyes away, picked up her purse, and got out of the car.

Eduard threw the key to the doorman and asked him to park.

Isobel stopped and waited for him for a while. As soon as she wrapped her arms around Eduard's arm,

she saw an acquaintance.

It wasn’t any acquaintance but Martha's best friend, Liltie.

Liltie truly deserved her name. Her voice was soft, and she always dragged it on when she talked. It

was said that men liked it and found it lovely and gentle.

But Isobel knew that Liltie was sharp-tongued when talking to her.

Liltie dressed up tonight and held the hand of who-knows-which boyfriend. Her gaze fell on Isobel’s

body. Before she said anything, she first expressed her contempt with her eyes. She raised an eyebrow

and grunted before saying slowly, "Oh, it’s Ms. Lewis and Mr. George. I was wondering who it was. I

haven’t seen you for a few days. Ms. Lewis looks quite haggard."

Isobel glanced at her. "I was busy with work, so I don’t look as gorgeous as Ms. Moss."

She replied without much seriousness and turned to look at Eduard. Neither of them intended to

continue talking to Liltie, so they went inside.

But Liltie kept talking. She walked behind them and said, "Ms. Lewis went to work? I thought you

depended on Mr. Francis these past few years!" Her voice was neither too loud nor too low, just

enough that everyone around could hear.

Isobel saw Martha as soon as she entered the venue. She wore a golden crystal dress today. With the

lights in the venue, her dress sparkled wherever she went.

Seeing Isobel, Martha frowned and walked over. "I thought Miss Song wouldn’t be here tonight."

Isobel smiled then took out a jewelry box from her purse and handed it to her. "Ms. Sutton personally

invited me. It wouldn’t be very respectful of me if I didn’t come. Happy birthday. I just saw a bracelet

and I thought it suits you very well, Ms. Sutton."

Martha stretched out her hand without a smile. "Thank you. It is kind of you."

There were a lot of people today, so Martha had to pretend to be a good host.

Isobel let go of the jewelry box. The box fell to the ground and the bracelet fell out. It was an old

necklace from Brand D. No one present was short of money. Everyone knew whenever a brand

introduced a bracelet or necklace and had one at home.

This bracelet had been around for so long that it was no longer manufactured. But when Isobel’s box

was opened, there was even an invoice on it. Knowing that she just bought it, this was obviously a

second-hand item!

Isobel just said that this bracelet suited Martha very well, so no doubt she was suggesting that Martha

only deserved second-hand goods.

Martha also found out that Isobel was mocking her. She gritted her teeth and just as she was about to

ask Isobel what she meant, Isobel bent over and picked up the necklace. "What? Ms. Sutton does not

find the gift valuable?"

Martha grabbed the box and gritted her teeth. "How come? Thank you, Ms. Lewis."

After she finished speaking, she glanced at Eduard next to Isobel. "It seems that the rumors are true. I Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.

wonder when I’ll be attending Ms. Lewis and Mr. George’s wedding."

The smile on Isobel's face faded away a bit. "Ms. Sutton, don't worry, I will definitely invite you one

day."

Today was Martha’s birthday. Isobel made her lose face as soon as Isobel entered the venue. Martha

almost couldn’t keep her smile on when she left.

Isobel watched her back disappear into the crowd then walked to the other side.

Eduard grabbed two glasses of juice and handed her one.

"Thank you."

"Are you not afraid of Martha?"

Isobel took a sip of the juice and chuckled lightly, "I'm afraid, but you should have heard the saying that

when you got nothing, you got nothing to lose."

She was afraid that she was useless. Since Martha wouldn't let her off, she would keep Martha

company to the end.

Eduard was stunned for a moment then suddenly smiled. "Of course."

When Hamish came downstairs, he saw Eduard and Isobel. He didn’t know what they were talking

about, but they seemed to be having a good conversation.

He thought the day when Isobel slapped him. After so long, it seemed to still hurt.

He hadn't noticed before that Isobel was this courageous.
