TRUE GIRLFRIEND
“How could you just leave that man without permission?” Kimberly asked when they had arrived at the apartment.
Nicholas didn’t answer, choosing instead to open the jacket that enveloped his muscular body and toss it casually onto the sofa. He then sat down and directed his gaze to Kimberly, who was still standing not far from him.
“Sit down,” Nicholas requested with a gentle expression while tapping the surface of the sofa lightly.
“I want to go inside and rest,” Kimberly replied.
“I said sit down.”
“But I-”
“Sit down quickly! Do I have to call you Mrs. Alistair before you obey?” Nicholas ordered with emphasis this time. His eyes sparkled sharply.
Reluctantly, Kimberly complied with Nicholas’s command to sit down. She took several deep breaths, squeezing her fingers to release the tension that was building up. She was quite sure that Nicholas was angry now.
“What’s the matter with you?” Kimberly spoke softly, not wanting to provoke Nicholas’s emotions.
“I didn’t like you talking to Julio,” Nicholas replied with a flat expression. His gaze clearly showed his disapproval.
Kimberly raised one eyebrow. “Why? Is something wrong? Besides, I just had a casual conversation.”
“Anyway, I don’t like it!” he sharply retorted.
Kimberly paused briefly, her face full of questions. “Why? State your reasons, Nick!”
Nicholas grunted in annoyance at Kimberly’s question. “Don’t pretend to forget, Kimberly Rayder. Soon you will be engaged to me, and perhaps soon after that, you will be my wife. I don’t like my woman getting close, let alone involved with other men.”

Kimberly took a deep breath and then stared intently at Nicholas’s handsome face. “You speak as if we are two lovers madly in love, Nick. But in reality, it seems I’m the only one who likes you.”
She got up from her seat, leaving Nicholas still in his position.
“Kimberly, I’m not finished talking,” Nicholas followed Kimberly’s steps. He even burst into her room without knocking on the door first.
“I want to rest, Nick,” Kimberly replied a bit irritated. She chose to sit down and focused on the dressing table in front of her, removing the makeup from her face.
Nicholas growled in frustration. “Listen to me. Do I have to kiss you first for you to listen?”
Kimberly’s eyes widened sharply at Nicholas, who was now sitting on her bed. “You pervert!” Kimberly exclaimed in annoyance.
“What did you say? Pervert? I’m not a pervert, Kimmy.” Nicholas protested. “You should be thankful to me.”
Kimberly’s brow furrowed. “What for? Thankful for what?”
“Thankful because I’m willing to help you get better at kissing. You were really bad and stiff when trying to match my kisses. You-”
“Nicholas, stop!” Kimberly yelled. “Stop this pointless conversation!” Kimberly covered her ears. She didn’t want to hear any more of Nicholas’s embarrassing complaints.
Meanwhile, Nicholas chuckled at Kimberly, who now had a flushed face. He felt satisfied every time he saw her unable to react, just like now.
Nicholas got up from his seat and approached Kimberly, who was still sitting in front of the dressing table. His hand reached out to caress Kimberly’s long hair, which covered her slender neck.
“I just want to clarify our relationship, Kimmy.”
Kimberly stared at the reflection of Nicholas in the mirror. “You mean? Don’t speak in riddles, Nick.”
Nicholas lowered his body, resting his chin on Kimberly’s shoulder.
“From now on, right this moment, your status is my true girlfriend. There’s no more pretending between us.” Nicholas whispered in Kimberly’s ear.
Kimberly tensed up. She blinked several times while processing the words of the man behind her. “Are you saying we’re officially a couple? Just like that?” Kimberly asked to confirm.
Nicholas grinned. “Yes, Mrs. Alistair.” In the next moment, he gave Kimberly’s cheek a brief kiss. Then, he got up and left, leaving Kimberly frozen in her seat.
