Chapter 56
Chapter 56
Kaley had been hiding upstairs all morning, and Izabella, after watching TV for a while, also came upstairs to rest
Izabella was hoping that those two slaps would teach Kaley a lesson, but Kaley was the type who loved stirring up trouble.
Having been wronged yesterday, who knew what lies she might cook up today to make herself look innocent.
Izabella returned to her room and frowned upon the wedding photo hanging on the wall. She glanced at it, and her eyes finally rested on a chair on the balcony.
Without any hesitation, she picked up the chair and smashed it against the wedding photo on the wall. There was a deafening crash, but the photo didn't break.
Izabella dropped the chair, grabbed the frame, and forcefully ripped the photo off the wall, tossing it onto the floor.
She couldn't understand what kind of glass the frame had been used, since it didn't break even after she smashed it this hard.
Izabella, with all her anger, stepped on Brett's face in the photo, stomping and smashing the glass until cracks spread all around it.
Her heart ached, as she threw the photo against the wall, and it finally shattered. NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
Her mouth twisted into a bitter smile, and tears filled her eyes.
Her relationship with Brett was like this broken photo, even if they tried to fix it, it would never be the same again.
Suddenly, Izabella had a severe coughing fit, spasming and feeling a sharp pain in her stomach. Not only did she cough out tears but also blood.
She had been discharged from the hospital for half a month and it had been a while since she coughed up blood. She went to clean her bloodstained hands, and even brushed her teeth to make them spotless.
After taking her medication and drinking some warm water, her stomach felt better. She realized her remaining meds wouldn't last many days.
With the money she had left, soon, she couldn't even afford her medications or treatment.
Gastric cancer required regular check-ups. Brett didn't want her going to Presley's hospital, but Izabella was afraid their secret would be revealed if she went to a different hospital.
She threw the medications back in the drawer and wrapped herself in a blanket to take a nap.
Brett came home early, waking her up with the sound of his parking. She sat up, only catching a glimpse of a hurried figure downstairs.
Izabella opened the door and leaned against the wall to find out what was happening. She had an inkling that something was wrong...
Kaley's door wasn't locked, and it was easily pushed open. Kaley lay on the bed, an empty bottle of sleeping pills beside her.
She was already unconscious. A panicked Brett called out her name a few times and got no response, so he lifted her, and hurried to the hospital.
Throughout the entire process, Izabella watched coldly from the sidelines.
With Kaley's sickly skin, the slap marks stood out clearly.
As Brett carried Kaley past Izabella, he left an icy glare at her. "If something happens to Kaley, I'll make you pay!" he snarled.
Izabella watched Brett's retreating figure, muttering silently, "I'm waiting."
Kaley was ambitious and wouldn't die so easily. Sending Brett a message and counting on him to save her life in time? That was the kind of thing Kaley would do.
Committing suicide with sleeping pills was slow. If she truly wanted to die, she'd choose another method like jumping off a building, just like what her father had done before.
Kaley had taken the sleeping pills an hour ago. As she was sent to the hospital in the nick of time, she woke up after getting her stomach pumped, only to look at Brett with teary eyes.
Brett was helpless when women cried. "Did Izabella say anything to you?" he asked. At this question, Kaley started crying even harder.
