Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Meredith's mouth was sealed by his lips so she could not say a word. She almost felt suffocated. Even
her clothes were torn apart. A deep sense of despair surrounded her. Who could save her? What
should she do?
The door was cold and hard and the man pressed her brutally against it. She could not break free. As
she was about to be raped by him, she heard Derek's faint voice on the bed.
"Water... Give me some water..."
Meredith's eyes lit up and she shouted, "Derek is awake!"
The man stopped abruptly. He looked back at Derek and then at Meredith. A cold light flashed in his
eyes as if he was going to kill Meredith.
The people outside the corridor moved from far to near. Then the man finally bit her hard on the
shoulder, turned around, pulled open the curtains, and jumped down into the moonlight.
Meredith felt her shoulder was bit through, but she had no time to care about the wound. She quickly
picked up clothes from the ground and put them on. Then she cleaned up the rest of the things. the
Xaviers had already arrived at the door and knocked anxiously.
When Meredith opened the door, they rushed in and surrounded the bed. All the lights were turned on.
When everyone saw that Derek had really opened his eyes on the bed, they almost cried with joy.
"The young master is awake. He's finally awake!"
Violet said while wiping her tears, "Derek, you finally wake up. All these years, I've been worried to
death."
Mr. Xavier brought the doctor and gave Derek a simple examination. After confirming that everything
was fine, the doctor recommended that he still needed to go to the hospital tomorrow for further
examination, and he could rest first today. Then everyone was relieved.
Mr. Xavier walked over to Meredith and nodded, "You also have a credit that Derek could awake."
Meredith ducked her head, afraid that Mr. Xavier would notice any marks on her face, "Thank you. The
whole family had made great effort to make the miracle."
Mr. Xavier stopped looking at her and ordered in a deep voice, "Derek just woke up. Let's all go out and
let him have a good rest. We can talk about the rest tomorrow."
The Xaviers walked out one by one. Then Mr. Xavier said, "Derek, this is your wife. She's been taking
care of you for the past month. Let her stay by your side tonight." Then he also left.
Only Meredith and Derek were left in the room.
Derek had just woken up and his eyes were still blurred. He looked straight at Meredith for a long time.
Meredith remembered that he just asked for water, so she quickly fed him some water.
Derek's coldness made Meredith dare not to speak. After drinking the water, Derek said in a clearer
voice than before, "Get out."

"I don't like to be in the same room with a strange woman. Get out and sleep at the door."
Meredith gritted her teeth. "I'm your wife. We're married. What's wrong with me sleeping with you?"
"If you don't get out, I'll call them back and tell them that you're fooling around with other men behind
my back." Derek's eyes fell on her shoulder, "There are still traces of shamelessness left!"
Meredith subconsciously held the deep teeth mark on her shoulder. Even it was through her clothes,
she could still feel a burning mark on her skin like a brand iron.
Especially under Derek's direct expose, she couldn't raise her head.
In the end, she had to take out a quilt from the door and lied on the floor to sleep.
As expected, no one from the Xaviers was good.
Derek, who she used to snuggle up with to keep warm, was indeed a demon when he woke up.
Now she was even caught hold by Derek. She just felt so powerless that she was being held back
everywhere. It was really very difficult for her.
The next day, Derek went straight into the study with his grandpa after doing the examination.
"You want to divorce?" His grandfather pondered for a long time. "She hit you and went to jail. You
have all reasons to hate her, but I don't allow you to divorce now!"
Derek scowled, "She would bring disaster to our family."
"I have invited numerous doctors and tried all kinds of therapies in the past three years, but all failed.
However, the girl got married with you for two months and you recovered. Even if you hate her, you
have to admit that staying with her would be good to you."
After what happened to Derek, Mr. Xavier became more and more superstitious. As long as his family
was safe, nothing else mattered.
"I know you're still thinking about Chloe, but you were in a car accident for chasing after her. She's not
suitable for you, so don't mention her anymore."
Derek's eyes dimmed when she heard Chloe's name.
"Grandpa, that's all superstition. You shouldn't do that." Derek never believes the supernatural stuff and
continued, "I would divorce her anyway..."
"Derek! Grandpa is old. All I want is you be healthy. I cannot see you suffering all these like you have
done in the past three years anymore." Mr. Xavier cried out and his voice trembled.
"Grandpa..." Derek looked at her grandfather. His hair had turned grey completely and wrinkles had
covered his face. He must be worried so much about him all these years.
Derek sighed, "I see." He could not make his grandpa worried anymore. He should take more time to
think out a new perfect plan.
