The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday

Chapter 67

"Fine, it's not your fault," Kieran said softly, patting Eloise on the head. "I'll have Jarrett drive you home."

Eloise's heart skipped a beat when she realized Kieran wouldn't take her home himself. But she knew she couldn't push her luck, so all she could do was lower her head and say, "As long as you're not mad at me, that's all that matters, Kieran... I can't lose you." After saying that, Eloise followed Jarrett to the car.

Meanwhile, Freya was about to head home when Kieran pulled her aside against a wall as she turned the corner.

"You!"

Freya instinctively wanted to resist, but Kieran grabbed her arm and said coldly, "Freya, you seem in quite the rush to leave."

"Mr. Sutton, shouldn't you be comforting Ms. Harwood instead of bothering with me?"

Freya frowned, wanting nothing to do with Kieran.

Seeing this, Kieran let go of Freya, his voice cold as he said, "Freya, are you disappointed we couldn't cancel our engagement?" Kieran didn't miss the dissatisfaction in Freya's eyes.

ét

Freya snorted, "Mr. Sutton, aren't you stating the obvious? Failing to break off the engagement means I can't, legitimately become a lady of the Beckett family, and yes, that's infuriating. So, I'd appreciate it if you would keep your distance to avoid further irritation."

Listening to Freya, Kieran couldn't help but laugh, "Freya, do you think Ronan wants to marry you? Don't be naive! If it wasn't for the fact you're engaged to me, do you think he'd give you the time of day?"

Freya raised an eyebrow. "I get what

you're trying to say, Mr. Sutton.

Ronan is only after me to get under your skin and annoy you. But... I won't buy into that. After all, Ronan and don't need anyone else's commentary on our relationship." Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

Hearing Freya refer to him as 'anyone else,' Kieran felt anger surging in his chest. "That's a pity. You're still engaged to the heir of the Sutton family, and you can't marry into the Beckett family!"

"Mr. Sutton, if you came here just to say that, please step aside. I don't have the time to waste with you." Freya attempted to walk past Kieran.

But Kieran warned, "Freya, stay away from Ronan. Remember your current status."

"Status? What status?" Freya pretended to be confused, "Mr. Sutton, I don't understand. "Even though we haven't officially broken off our engagement, you do your thing and I'll do mine. That's pretty standard in our circle, right? Eventually, we'll call it off. There's no

rush."

Then, deliberately getting closer to Kieran, Freya teased, "Mr. Sutton, or did you harbor feelings for me, hence the reluctance to see me with Ronan? Otherwise, why go through all the trouble to have Audrey stop the breakup?" At that, Kieran's expression darkened. "Freya, don't flatter yourself!"

"It was a joke, Mr. Sutton. Don't take it to heart." Freya laughed, which fueled Kieran's anger.

Watching Freya walk away nonchalantly, Kieran clenched his fists tighter. He intended to see Freya defeated, but she had gotten under his skin once again!
