Chapter 59 Epilogue

Three months later

I LAZILY draped my arm around Iris’ shoulder as our group drove through the endless wide road.

It was a beautiful day.

We thought we could have a little adventure as we were headed to one of the Frost mansions.

The sky was clear, and the sun was striking hot, yet nobody cared. We were on a road trip again with the family I cared about and the love of my life.

“How much longer to your place?” Lois asked.

“A few more hours.” He looked and smiled tightly at her in the passenger seat.

Frost finally found peace when we found his father’s group last month, and we got information that Mr. Hugo Frost did not make it.

Yesterday, he admitted that he was falling for Lois, and I threw him an odd look because I knew it before he even realized it. On the other hand, Lois didn’t fall for his charm, and now he was scowling at the road ahead of us.

I gave him the advice to be patient, but the word patience didn’t seem to exist in his vocabulary, and he said we almost died because of patience.

Iris and I were great. She figured out that her pendant was actually a key to her mother’s unique and tricky safe box where she kept her jewelry, including their wedding bands and engagement ring, old photos, and some documents. She took it with us, safe in her backpack whenever we went.

“What?”

I smiled down at her. “Just admiring how beautiful you are.”

“Not again.” She leaned closer and whispered, “hold your horses, Angeleno.”

“So, you eventually fell for Angeleno, huh?”

“When you don’t have much to choose from. You know.” She pursed her lips. “You can’t be picky.”

“Is that so? Hmm. But this Angeleno has brought you to nirvana and back and is gifted in that area. If I recall correctly, did you say I won’t fit in your mouth?”

Dust of pink blossomed on her cheeks. “You’re so dirty.”

When we excused ourselves for a bathroom break and refilled our tank after long hours of drive, we ended up fucking each other. We still had hot sex anywhere we got a chance-what I meant when I said we got a chance-one time Gael caught us at the back of the gas station, humping. We laughed our asses out when Gael left.

“I need a room on my own, Templeton.” Gael was on a diet, and I thought it worked perfectly on him without insulin. He got a supply from the CDC clinic, but he managed not to inject himself anymore, and he seemed happy with his new prosthetic.

“Got plenty. I can give you a whole house if you want. I hope they weren’t charred down, but we could still go to our other properties. If you want a view of the beach, there’s one in Malibu. The Hamptons is the best, though.”

“I need to find a job,” Darick mumbled. I understood why he was eager to get a life on his own. “Now computers are back to life. Gotta do something better.”

Most cities were starting to build again with the new government. Now, they didn’t have to be afraid of the virus anymore.

We hoped New York was an excellent place to start our new lives.

“I already missed Doc.” Dr. Hull stayed with the CDC to help since they needed more doctors and medical staff.

“Me too,” Iris seconded.

“I bet no one wants an extravagant wedding, right? I can work in agriculture, I guess.” Iris was able to get a good night’s sleep. She was ecstatic these past months and helped out by giving vaccines to everyone. I also went to different areas out of State to distribute vaccines.

“We’ll figure it out.”

Iris tilted her head and smiled. “Yup. We’re in this together.” She fist-bumped into mine.

“How about you plan a wedding for us first?” I ran my thumb on her pink cheek.

Iris was getting more beautiful every day. She had her curves in all the right places, and even her tits were more luscious than ever. That was why I couldn’t keep my hands off of her. Who could blame me? I was just a man madly in love with her, and I couldn’t wait to marry her.

“That’s the best thing you ever said for these past few days, son,” Gael agreed, almost with a snort.

“Oh, my God! It’s been years since I attended a wedding!” Lois gushed, shifting from her seat to join us.

As if on cue, Frost stopped the car.

I got out and took Iris’ hand with me. Her blue eyes widened, remained speechless as I knelt down on bended knee.

“What do you say, twig?” Asking her about marriage was not random. “I have been meaning to ask you this, Iris. I didn’t want you to freak out because we’d just been together for a few months, but I couldn’t wait any longer for you to be my wife. Besides, we almost lost each other in the freaking virus. And life was too short to wait for the right time when the right time was just always been there all along.”

I fished out the ring from my pocket. I couldn’t even find a box. I took the ring off the dead woman during our scavenging. I knew one day I could put it to good use.

“The first time our eyes met, you just blew me away. It always reminds me of my hope and faith. The moment you threatened my junk, I knew that time that either you would be stuck with me or I’d die alone because there’s nothing I would want to be than to be with you. Blue Iris Clayton, will you marry me?”

“I love you, Colton!” She launched into me and ended up on the hot asphalt.

“Is that a yes?” I laughed as I wrapped my arms around her. “I should change my name to Colton Danger when we get married.”

A single tear rolled down her cheek. She bit her lip and nodded. “I’d love to be your wife, Colton Danger.”

The moment the word wife came from her lips, I captured them and kissed her with all my wildly beating heart.

“Glad that I threatened you that night. I love you, Blue Iris.”
