Chapter 153
Chapter 153
“Sherry, I can’t tell you on the phone,” her mother said after some thought, expecting Sheridan to give up. It wouldn’t be right to travel right after a coronation, so she knew that Sheridan would not make the journey.
“Then you don’t need it,” Sheridan retorted, not hiding how upset she was about her mother’s hesitation to tell her everything.
The middle–aged woman felt helpless, knowing how stubborn her last child could be. At this point, she could not even ask about how the bracelet got to Sheridan until she confirms it’s the exact thing she’s looking for.
“It’s very urgent, Sherry. Even if Arnold holds it, all the problems we are facing would stop.”
Thinking through her mother’s words on the phone, Sheridan was faintly getting the understanding that the bracelet had a connection to the Moonshine Pack and must have been a family treasure.
As such, her curiosity could not be satisfied until she knew the details of it.
“Why don’t you send Arnold to come and get it? We could have finished talking by the time he gets here, but without an explanation, I’m not letting it go.”
Her mother had no intention of hiding it from her, except that it was a long story.
“Alright. When I was younger, my mother told me a story before giving me the bracelet. She said she had a cousin, and they were close, just like you and Goldie.”
Sheridan could only briefly remember her grandparents as they passed away when she was little. It was a war that took them.
“When she met my father, her cousin liked him too, and though she was my father’s destined mate, he equally liked her cousin.”
“Irrespective of the bond, he told her to prove her love for him by going to fetch the dew drops pearl bracelet in the mountains. Her cousin reached it before her but was caught in a trap.”
“Knowing that she wouldn’t make it, she gave the bracelet to my mother, telling her to never lose it. She said the bracelet had powers that would help her, but if she loses it, she would never be able to have a child.”
“My mother made the promise, and her cousin died after three days. The bracelet had been with her and was well–kept until she gave it to me when I was very young, and I kept it well.”
“After giving birth to all eight of you, your father threw a party for me when you arrived, and I wore the bracelet at the party.”
“A lot of people attended, but in the middle of the party, the bracelet disappeared. Someone said it fell, and they saw a middle–aged woman pick it up. We never found her, and that was how I lost it. My mom said that if I could not find it, then none of my sons would be able to procreate.”
The understanding settled in as her mother finished the narration on the phone, and Sheridan asked curiously.
“Is that why my brothers never had children until recently?” Her brothers found their mates early on before Sheridan even left for the human world, but upon her return, she found no nieces or nephews. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
“Yes, but Daisy is a miracle baby. Her presence changed a lot of things even without the bracelet, and I don’t know if the emerald bracelet she wore had stronger powers than the pearl bracelet, but the fact remains that it was only during her stay that your sisters–in–law got pregnant.”
“After she left, all my seven daughters–in–law fell sick, and the doctor said they might lose the baby. Your father has also been sick, and things have
never been the same.”
Sheridan was amazed by the revelation but knew that Athena had stored up Daisy’s powers in that bracelet. When she turns eighteen, she would be able to operate without it.
Who knew that “post
sistence on taking the bracelet to Daisy would break a curse? Sadly, things were falling apart because of Daisy’s absence.
“Daisy is the one who snatched the bracelet from Charlotte, and Nick told me later that Tom said he gave the bracelet to Charlotte, but it was a gift from his grandmother to be given to the woman he loved.”
Her mother quickly understood who the thief was. “Then his grandmother must have been the woman who stole it. Your brother, Arnold, is on his way to pick it up.”
“Alright,” Sheridan agreed this time. How she wished she could meet him halfway, but she knew that Nick would not allow it. Besides, her mother said that the moment Arnold touches it, things would begin to fall into place for them.
Sheridan went back to Nick and Daisy. Squatting before them, she spoke gently to Daisy.
“Young lady, the bracelet you snatched fro
belongs
your grandmother, and she needs it. Can I have it, please?”
Her question equally caught Alpha Nick’s attention as he
her, “were you not the one eager to return the bracelet?”
“I would have lost my unborn nieces, nephews, and my dad if I did.”
“What are you talking about?” Alpha Nick asked, and Sheridan narrated everything to him.
Shock was an understatement, but there was also admiration for the fact that the little girl took what rightfully belonged to her family.
“Sweetie, you heard your mother. You just saved your maternal lineage and yet–to–be–born cousins.”
Daisy beamed and held out her hand holding the bracelet. Sheridan smiled and took it from her. A few hours later, Arnold arrived.
“Sherry, Alpha Nick, we are very sorry for our inability to make it.”
Alpha Nick brushed it off and replied, “you had urgent matters to attend to. I would have done the same, and besides, everything went well.
“Wonderful, and how is my sweet little niece doing and Goldie?” Arnold asked tiredly. He even had dark circles under his eyes, making Sheridan disturbed.
“Arnold, why don’t you spend the night? Mom said everything would be fine as soon as you hold the bracelet. You can hold it while sleeping, or we can get someone to drive you back.”
Arnold thought for a while and requested the most important thing. “Let me hold the bracelet. If things indeed get better, then I would stay the night.”
“Sure,” Sheridan held out the bracelet to him, and as soon as he touched it, he froze.
