Chapter 19 Farrah Has An Apprentice.

arrah headed to the design department’s main office. She’d just sat down at her desk when Natasha assed by and dumped a pile of documents before her, surprising her. She said, “Thank you, Ms. Gray!”

ut when she turned to look at N

atasha, the latter was already gone.

arrah picked up the documents and looked around the office, finding that the atmosphere wasn’t the ame as yesterday. No one was making fun of her–it seemed like they’d forgotten about what had appened yesterday and were wholly focused on their work

o, Farrah started reading the documents. They included an introduction to the establishment of the esign department and its importance. There was also a summary of the department’s achievements and list of the award–winning products they’d designed.

owever, something had gone wrong over the past two years. Perhaps the industry was getting more ompetitive, or the general public’s tastes had changed–Prestige Group hadn’t designed anything articularly eye–catching recently. This meant the pressure was on the design department

he documents also included brief descriptions of each designer. After reading through everything. arrah couldn’t help feeling that they were all better than she’d expected, despite knowing there had to be

any talents in a company like Prestige Group.

ne portion of the documents mentioned the “Enduring Moments” jewelry line, which would be launched : the end of the year. It was Adrian’s priority. The jewelry line would focus on necklaces with earrings to omplement them.

here were only four short months to go until the launch, which meant the design department had to ɔme up with drafts for the designs within a month. Then, the designs would be compared before the hal selection.

explained why the atmosphere in the office was different from yesterday’s–everyone was making use f every second they had to draft their designs.

ecause the launch was so crucial to Adrian, no one in the design department dared to be half–hearted. ven Natasha and Marie joined in on the jewelry designs, hoping to provide designs that would meet drian’s expectations and prove the department’s capabilities.

ree employees had been removed from the design department that day and transferred to branch mpanies. Rumor had it that the company would continue to retrench staff, too. Everyone was on edge Je to the possibility of significant personnel adjustments.

irrah had just finished reading the documents when she received a message on Twitter. She checked it id was pleasantly surprised to see it was from Mr. Moonlight.

> asked, “How have you been lately, O Mighty One?”

irrah smiled and typed out a reply, telling him that she’d gotten a job in design. He was happy for her id wrote, “With your talent, you should’ve joined the industry ages ago. Which company has had the ›nor of hiring you?”

he didn’t go into detail. She wanted to maintain a low profile since she was still an intern and not exactly

  1. r. Moonlight said, “Do you remember your suggestions for my last design? They inspired me, and the ghth and final draft I created won an award.”

irrah was happy for him; they chatted a bit more. She and Mr. Moonlight had been online pen pals for a

long time but had never met in person. They’d met on Twitter and happened to both like designing. After some interactions, they realized they had the same views.

Mr. Moonlight was also a designer. Over the years, he’d gotten into the habit of showing her his work whenever he was at a bottleneck.

She would give him some of her opinions and suggestions. Because they didn’t know each other in real life, she had nothing holding her back and would be blunt.

Each time, Mr. Moonlight would be inspired to approach the design from a different angle. So, he’d jokingly started calling her his mentor and addressing her as “O Mighty One“.

The CEO’s office was on the 22nd floor. Germaine approached the floor–to–ceiling windows while holding a folder. She waited for Adrian to end his call.

Then, she said, “Mr. Locke, the personnel adjustments are already–proceeding per your instructions. Mr. Jordan is on a business trip, but it seems he’s booked a flight for Monday and is returning prematurely.”

Adrian tucked his hands in his pockets, his voice a little cold as he said, “Aren’t there any other flights? With his temper, he would probably want nothing more than to appear before me right now.”

His expression carried a hint of amusement, which was rare. Germaine didn’t dare comment on the matter. She could practically taste the tension in 1

n the air.
