Chapter 90 Being Poor Is A Waste
“This dress suits you well. It’s as if it’s tailor-made for you.”
In front of the mirror, Amanda was wearing a wine-red evening dress. The sales attendant carefully matched her handbag, and the dress fitted her wonderful figure just right.
Joleen couldn’t help but clap her hands. “This looks good.”
“Is the color too eye-catching?”
Amanda lifted the hem of her dress and turned around in front of the mirror. “Isn’t it a little too grand?”
“It must be grand and eye-catching. Otherwise, who knows about our Safe Home Real Estate?”
Amanda had no choice but to hand the card to the salesperson. “Please charge this card. I’ll change back to my clothes.”
When Amanda changed back to her clothes, the salesperson took the dress to the cashier. On the way, she said, “The clothes in our store are unique, so it’s impossible for two people to wear the same clothes. Ordinary people really can’t wear this well.”
Amanda glanced at Joleen. “I think she’s a great salesperson for our company.”
“I think so too.”
As soon as she finished speaking, the sound of argument suddenly came from the front desk.Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
“This dress is good. Let me try it on.”
“I’m sorry. Someone bought this dress and is paying the bill now.”
“So what if I just try it? Besides, it has not been paid yet!”
Amanda stopped as soon as she heard the voice.
Enemies were bound to meet on a narrow road.
“I’m really telling the truth. This customer has already bought it.”
The cashier’s words made the two women turn around. They saw Amanda and Joleen.
“Why are you here?” Lydia’s expression immediately changed.
Sherry wasn’t happy to see Amanda, but she didn’t hate Joleen. She even greeted her politely. “Joleen, you’re here too?”
Seeing Amanda, she pursed her lips disdainfully and said, “Even pheasants go shopping. What can they even find?”
Amanda frowned slightly but couldn’t be bothered to argue with her.
Her gaze directly went past them, and she asked the salesperson, “Have you charged my card?”
The salesperson was a little flustered. “Sorry, there’s something wrong with the computer. Wait a minute, it’ll be done soon.”
“Since there is a problem, it means that this dress doesn’t suit you. It has nothing to do with you. Let me try it on. Maybe after I try it on, the computer will be repaired.”
As she spoke, she swaggered to get the dress.
The salesperson could not stop her. She hurriedly came out from behind the cashier and stood in front of Lydia. “I’m really sorry. This is the dress that this customer has already ordered. Our store still has many other designs. You can choose among them with your friend.”
Lydia refused to give her the dress and said with a sullen face, “I’m a customer, and you’re just a worker. This dress belongs to the shop before someone pays the bill. I can try it on whenever I want. Do you understand?”
“I’m sorry, but this dress…”
“Ask your manager to talk to me. You don’t know any rules.”
The salesperson was a young girl, so she was at a loss for words.
Amanda couldn’t stand it anymore and said coldly, “Your goal is to make things difficult for me, so why are you making things difficult for the salesperson?”
“Oh, why am I making things difficult for her? Don’t think that I don’t know why you bought this dress,” Lydia snorted coldly and said disdainfully. “She’s all dressed up to go to the banquet. You’re a divorced woman. It’s more appropriate for you to dress properly.”
“I’m divorced, not a widower. Do you mean that you want me to wear mourning clothes?”
“What are you talking about? Are you trying to curse my brother?” Sherry’s face immediately changed.
Amanda couldn’t stand her and continued, “Also, I don’t understand. Miss Ginos said that these clothes are improper, and she wants to try them on. Is it because the clothes are improper, or is it because the person who wants to wear them is improper?”
Lydia wasn’t angry. She was in a good mood today.
“Whatever you say. You’ve already lost anyway. Instead of dressing grandly and having no one look at you, why don’t you fulfill someone else’s wish? At the wedding banquet in the future, I’ll send you an invitation to come to my wedding with Iverson.”
“Then I should thank Miss Ginos for your magnanimity?”
“You’re welcome. A wise man submits to circumstances. If you go against me, you won’t have a good ending. So I’ll take this dress.”
With that, she instructed the salesperson, “Wrap it up and charge my card.”
The salesperson was caught between two customers. “That won’t do…”
“Do you not understand what I am saying? Take my card.”
“Lydia Ginos. I didn’t say that I’m giving these clothes to you.”
When Amanda finished speaking, not only did Lydia but even Joleen, who was standing by the side, was taken aback.
Amanda attached great importance to her career and never liked to argue with other women. It was like this with her mother at home, and it was the same with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law after getting married. Most of the time, women were unreasonable, and she didn’t want to argue with them.
Joleen thought that Amanda was going to be like how she was in the past, turning the matter into a small one. She used to be too lazy to argue with others.
However, the current situation was beyond her expectations.
Lydia’s face sank. “You insist on snatching it from me?”
“I’m not snatching it from you. This dress was mine to begin with.”
“You haven’t paid for it yet. How can it be counted as yours?” Lydia said, “Ha, I understand. How about this? Name a price. I can buy this dress at three times, even four or five times the price, as long as you name the price.”
“Okay!”
Amanda flipped the card. “500, 000 dollars.”
Sherry’s complexion changed. “What? 500, 000 dollars?”
Lydia’s expression froze.
Amanda’s face was calm. “Didn’t you tell me to name a price? If you don’t have the money, don’t talk like this. Miss Ginos, do you still want to buy this dress from me?”
Lydia gritted her teeth, her face was ashen.
“The computer has been repaired.”
In the middle of the deadlock, the sound of the salesperson coming from the cashier broke the frozen atmosphere.
Amanda nodded slightly. “Then let me pay for it, thank you.”
The salesperson hurriedly nodded and carefully waved her hand toward Lydia. “Can you return the dress to me?”
Lydia clenched her dress tightly and gritted her teeth.
Just as she was about to return it, there was a sudden tearing sound, and a large crack appeared on the dress.
The salesperson exclaimed, “This…”
“Ah, I’m really sorry.” Lydia pretended to be sorry. “I accidentally hung it on my bracelet. What a coincidence.”
“What… what should we do?”
“Don’t worry. Since I ruined it, I will naturally compensate you according to the price. Anyway, no one bought it, right?”
She threw the torn dress on the cashier, crossed her arms, and said triumphantly, “Miss Jewell, you like this dress so much. Why don’t I buy it for you and sew it up? You can also wear it.”
“It’s just a dress. Why did you waste your money?”
“Waste? In the eyes of the poor, that’s a waste of money. I spend money to buy happiness. That’s called spending money.”
After that, she waved her hand and was about to leave. “Sherry, let’s go to another store. It’s very unlucky.”
Amanda stopped her. “Wait.”
“What else do you want to do?”
“You forgot to pay for it.” Amanda pointed at the dress with a calm face.
