Chapter 64 Who’s Following Her?
Early in the morning
Amanda contacted the renovation company to officially renovate the office building.
“In addition to the wall renovation, there is almost no need to make any big changes. The office on this floor is newly installed, and many of them can be used directly.”
“How long will it take?”
“Very fast. The soft decoration will be over in a week.”
While Amanda was talking to the workers about the venue renovation, a familiar male voice came from the door.
“Amanda.”
“Patrick?” Seeing that Patrick had arrived, Amanda immediately told the workers to go ahead and greet him. “Why are you here?”
Patrick was wearing a suit and held a briefcase. He said gently, “I had a case appointment with a client nearby. I came by to have a look. How’s your renovation going?”
“It went pretty smoothly, thanks to the renovation company Joleen recommended to me. It’s very reliable.”
Patrick’s eyes flickered. “Joleen introduced you?”
“Yes, although she has been away on a business trip all the time, she still cares a lot about her friends. When she heard that I wanted to start my own company, she immediately introduced the decoration team to me. There are even some people in the finance and legal aspects of the company. She said that she could recommend them later.”
“Amanda, I think you should think about it.”
“What’s wrong?”
“I just feel that you’re too familiar with Joleen. The person she recommended isn’t easy for you to manage. If you need it, I have a friend who is a headhunter. As for the legal system, I understand it even more. I can help you with the company’s legal affairs for free.”
“Makes sense,” Amanda nodded thoughtfully and said. “But according to what you said, I can’t accept your help. You’re my friend like Joleen, aren’t you?”
Startled, Patrick immediately explained, “That’s not the same.”
Amanda smiled and didn’t continue the topic. “All right, let’s not talk about this. Patrick, it’s rare for you to come here. I’ll treat you to a cup of coffee.”
Patrick’s expression eased up. “Sure.”
There was a coffee shop downstairs. Amanda and Patrick ordered two cups of coffee and sat down.Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
“When I saw the news before, I was worried about you. I didn’t expect you to solve it so soon. Did Halley make things difficult for you?”
“No,” Amanda shook her head and said, “he and Olinka plotted this together. They shot themselves in the foot. How could they have the nerve to make things difficult for me again?”
“But I heard that the project you talked about was canceled. I’m afraid that Halley is still angry.”
“He can only swallow his anger. He deserves it.”
As soon as she said, “he deserves it,” Amanda calmly took a coffee. The calmness and apathy in her eyes showed that she didn’t care about it at all.
Patrick was delighted. “It looks like you don’t intend to meddle in the affairs of the Halley anymore. I’m relieved with that.”
“When I sell all the shares of Sean Group in my hands, it will have nothing to do with them.”
“If you need any help, call me at any time.”
“Of course,” Amanda said with a smile. “The shares will be notarized if they are sold. When the time comes, I have to trouble you.”
“I can’t wait to you trouble me.”
Patrick glanced at his watch. “Amanda. I’m free tonight. If you’re free, let’s have dinner together.”
Amanda readily agreed. “Sure.”
The veil of night descended.
After the meeting, Iverson returned to his office.
As soon as he put the phone on the table, an anonymous text message popped up, only one photo.
“Boss, this is today’s meeting minutes; you…” Before Jamie could finish his sentence, he noticed that Iverson didn’t look pleased. “Boss, what’s wrong?”
Iverson put down his phone and saw a picture on the screen.
Jamie leaned over to look curiously and saw two people eating in a western restaurant in the photo. One was Amanda, and the other was the lawyer who had helped Amanda file a lawsuit, Patrick.
“Isn’t that Miss Jewell and Mr. Dolley?”
As soon as Jamie finished speaking, he realized something was wrong with the atmosphere. He quickly shut his mouth and carefully observed Iverson’s expression. “Boss, they’re just having a meal together. Maybe Miss Jewell has something important to discuss with Mr. Dolley.”
How dare he lay his hands on the woman that his boss fancied? This person really had an exaggerated opinion of his abilities.
Jamie broke out in a cold sweat. Iverson had never been known for his emotions, and it was rare for him to see such a serious expression on his face. He only thought Amanda’s dinner with another man alone had made him unhappy.
Iverson asked, “Tell me, Who sent me the message?”
Jamie was slightly taken aback.
Iverson added, “Investigate carefully. Find out who cares so much about Amanda.”
Jamie returned to his senses when he saw his boss’s slightly sunken expression. “Yes, I’ll get someone to investigate as soon as possible.”
“Doing it now.”
“Ah?” Jamie was taken aback for a second before saying, “Yes, I’ll go now.”
The office door slammed shut, and the entire room fell silent.
Iverson picked up his phone again and studied the photo carefully.
From the shooting angle, the person who took the photo was sitting in the corner of this western restaurant, not far from Amanda’s table. He just happened to be under cover of a load-bearing wall, causing a blind spot to block his sight.
Someone was following Amanda.
At this time, Amanda and Patrick were having dinner in a Western restaurant, so they didn’t notice that someone had taken a photo of them and sent it to Iverson.
In the corner of the restaurant, a waiter was suddenly called over.
“Pay the bill.”
“You haven’t eaten so much yet. Do you want to pack it up?”
“No need.”
After paying the bill, the customer glanced meaningfully at Amanda’s table and left in a hurry.
By the time Jamie arrived, a table in the corner had already been overturned.
Jamie’s voice came from the phone, reporting the situation. “Boss, I saw the surveillance video an hour ago from the photo sent in the restaurant. There is a corner not covered by the surveillance video, and I haven’t found anyone yet.”
Sitting in his office, Iverson pondered for a moment before replying, “Forget it if you can’t find anything.”
Since he was following her, he must have a purpose. If he didn’t reach his goal, it would happen again next time.
“Tell the property guards in the office building to visit her story more often soon.”
“Yes, boss. Shall I pick you up now and take you home?”
“Don’t worry. Come back after having a meal in the restaurant.”
Jamie was dumbfounded once again.
After hanging up the phone, Iverson stood up from the leather sofa, turned around, and walked to the French window. He put one hand in his suit pocket and looked down at the night view downstairs, but his eyes were still far away.
“Who could the person be and had followed Amanda and taken the photo for him to see?”
“Was it Lydia?”
On the other side, Amanda and Patrick had just finished eating. They were preparing to leave when they ran into an acquaintance.
