Caroline leaned casually against the second-floor railing, gazing down at Elizabeth with an air of superiority.

Her demeanor, her posture-this was the confidence of a true mistress of the house.

Elizabeth was livid. "Who are you calling a dog?"

"Who else could it be?" Caroline replied, a faint smirk on her lips.

"Caroline, I see you've gotten bolder after a few days apart," Elizabeth snarled through gritted teeth. "Do

you really think I can't deal with you now?"

Caroline and Elizabeth had clashed for years.

Elizabeth, the biological daughter, had always targeted Caroline.

Anything Caroline liked, Elizabeth wanted.

Any mistake made, Elizabeth pinned it on Caroline.

Elizabeth took the good; Caroline bore the bad.

Over the years, Caroline endured endless bullying and suffering under the Brooks family's roof. Even when she left and married into the Ellison family, they squeezed her for every last ounce of value. Caroline had tolerated it all, calling it repayment for their care.

But selling her first time to a stranger? That was something she could never forgive.

"Say what you came to say." Caroline's tone was sharp. "If not, there's the door."

"How dare you talk to me like that!" Elizabeth barked. "Fine, I'll make you regret this!"

Elizabeth had always lorded over Caroline. How could she stand being put down now?

Seizing the opportunity to flaunt her power, she charged up the stairs, hand outstretched to grab Caroline's hair.

"Who's the dog now? Who's spewing nonsense? You think being Mrs. Ellison makes you untouchable? That seat won't be yours for long. it's mine!"

Caroline sidestepped smoothly. "What's your problem? Acting crazy out of nowhere."

This was David's home, not hers, yet Elizabeth dared to barge in, yelling and trying to pick a fight?

"Hah! I'll hit you wherever I want, at home or anywhere else! All the times you upset me? I'll pay them back now, Caroline, you'll always be beneath me!"

Elizabeth missed her first grab and immediately switched tactics, swinging her hand toward Caroline's face.

Caroline reacted swiftly, catching her wrist mid-air. "Elizabeth, did you forget your rabies shot?"

"What did you just say?" Elizabeth shrieked. "I can't win gainst your mouth, but I'll tear it apart!" Elizabeth raised her other hand, aiming to slap Caroline.

But Caroline had had enough. Twisting Elizabeth's wrist in one fluid motion, she shoved her forcefully. "Ah!"

Elizabeth tumbled to the ground in a heap, arms and legs flailing.

"You... You dared to fight back?" Elizabeth gasped, pointing an accusatory finger. "Fine, you're finally showing your true colors now that you're out of the Brooks family!"

Caroline's voice was cold and firm. "Elizabeth, I'm no longer the girl you could bully at will. And I don't owe your family anything anymore."

Elizabeth was seething. She had come here to flaunt her power, but instead, Caroline had humiliated her. She couldn't let it go.

"Caroline, I'll fight you to the end!"

Elizabeth scrambled to her feet and lunged at Caroline

Caroline didn't budge. She waited until Elizabeth was almost upon her, then casually stepped aside. Bang!

Elizabeth crashed headlong into the wall, stars bursting before her eyes.

Caroline shrugged. "How stupid."

Just then, David's cold voice rang out from the entrance below.

"The only stupid one here, Caroline, is you."
