Chapter 85
Chapter 85 Engaged
Although she knew it was unnecessary, Gwen instinctively turned toward the source of the voice.
It was her old acquaintances–Jake and Sienna.
She began to wonder whether Bellmont City was too small.
Sienna held Jake’s hand as they entered the store. Their appearance as a couple suddenly caused Gwen’s heart to sink, and an indescribable bitterness washed over her as if time had frozen in that moment.
Just moments ago, she had learned of their engagement, and now she saw them choosing wedding rings…
In their three years of marriage, the only gift Jake had given her was that wedding ring, which she had to measure in secret while he was asleep because he wouldn’t even bother with the size.
And now, he was personally at a jewelry store choosing a wedding ring with Sienna.
Gwen felt as if she had been slapped in the face–slapped by her own foolish past! This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
A heavy weight settled on her shoulder as Ryan appeared behind her. He struggled to lift the blue diamond ring with his hand wrapped in bandages. Casually, he asked, “How’s my taste?”
She immediately pulled herself out of her disappointment, took the ring, and smiled faintly. “Not bad. You chose the ring I designed.”
“Of course! We have a connection. How about I give it to you now?” He turned to face her. His handsome face was flawless, and his tall figure blocked Jake and Sienna behind him
She shook her head and refused, “No way! I don’t want to see how it gets twisted online later.”
But he wore a playful grin as he knelt on one knee and held out the blue diamond ring. “My princess, will you wear it for me?”
The staff couldn’t help but scream as they excitedly grabbed each other’s hands.
Was Simon planning to propose? He was using a design that Gwen had created herself! Even if they didn’t get paid for today, it was worth it–what a shocking event!
Ryan’s playful, affectionate gaze met Gwen’s, leaving her with no way to respond. She could only feign. anger and gives shoulder a light pat. “Enough of that! Get up already!”
The staff was even more shocked. Did Gwen just turn down Simon’s proposal?
They admired her proud demeanor.
The store featured transparent floor–to–ceiling windows, and media reporters trailing Ryan furiously snapped pictures when they spotted the scene. They quickly rushed into the store for interviews.
“Simon, are you and Ms. Lawson about to get married?
Ryan shrugged. “As everyone can see, Ms. Lawson rejected me. I have to put in more effort.”
The
porters laughed and asked, “Is it because you both experienced a near–death car accident that you’re so certain about her?”
Ryan said with a smirk, “Let’s keep our lips sealed; we need to give the media room to speculate.”
The atmosphere was harmonious, free from any tension between the stars and reporters. His handling of the media was skillful–he gave them something to write about without committing to anything too definitive–perfect public relations.
“Simon, you must let us know if there is any good newal
“Right, we want the inside scoop.”
“Absolutely. Can my princess and I continue picking out rings?”
Ryan flashed a charming smile, indicating it was time for them to leave.
The media reporters cooperatively exited.
Sienna watched the envious glances directed at Gwen, and her fingernails dug painfully into her palm.
With a cunning smile on her lips, she said to Jake, “Jake, look at Ms. Lawson–she’s got the scion of Savant Group wrapped around her finger, and now the superstar Simon is publicly proposing to her. She really is quite popular with the guys!”
Jake’s expression darkened, and his anger flashed uncontrollably in his eyes.
His engagement to Sienna was merely a response to Anthony’s pressure. Did Gwen intend to get married too?
She was involved with so many men. Had she really changed? Had she become a fickle woman?
An inexplicable impulse drove him to step forward.
“You already have Henry. Why are you getting mixed up with him?”
“Why are you so annoying? Do you have to follow us around like a fly? What does it have to do with you?” Ryan pushed Jake’s shoulder in annoyance.
The tension between the men was palpable.
Ryan remained unfazed by his injury, ready to fight one–handed if necessary. He had never gotten a chance to hit Jake when he and Gwen were married, and he hadn’t forgotten that grudge. Just because they were divorced didn’t mean he wouldn’t take the chance now.
Gwen slowly set down the accessories, her gaze drifting over mockingly. “Who are you to question me, Mr. Hall?”
