My Twins Baby 121
Chapter 121 Xavier POV
"Well, that was a bust" I scowled, kicking at the grass and sensing my brother's eyes on me. "A complete waste of time. Heather Ramona is most definitely nowhere at this so-called club" I wrinkled my nose in disgust and glared over my shoulder while Xander nodded in
agreement.
"It could have been true though," Xander said loyally, attempting to calm me down.
I snorted. "It was false information. Just wait until I get my hands on that piece of shit that gave us the details" I mapped
I was going to wring his neck and make him sorry he had ever been born. We had wasted valuable time in tracking down what had turned out to be nothing more than a false lead. Great.
"Just calm down. It's no harm no foul" Xander said placidly "We'll just go back to the pack and check on Regan. There's nothing to worry about" he added with an exhale.
"I don't like it" I scowled. "I don't like that Heather Ramona is still out there somewhere, biding her time until we let downs our guard. Do you still have Isabelle under guard?" I asked, watching Xander's eyes turn dark at the mention of her name. "Yes" he answered darkly "and so far she hasn't made a move. I would have thought that a devoted mother would have tried at least once to steal in and see her child but so far, we've had no luck."noveldrama
He sounded repulsed by the fact Heather hadn't attempted to break in to see her own daughter. I, however, was not surprised. Heather Ramona didn't care about anyone but herself and her own survival. Isabelle in a coma was not going to be enough to lure her back. "Well, she did abandon Isabelle, so it's no surprise there. Besides, she's not stupid. She'll know it's a trap" I grumbled, as we made it to the car, the driver opening the doors and ushering us inside.
"I know you've been visiting Isabelle," I said, crossing my arms and eyeing my brother as the car took off. "What exactly is it you are hoping to see or find? You know she's not going to wake from that coma" I pointedly added.
Her fate was already set in stone. Even if Xander tried to appeal on her behalf, I could not allow him to change what we and the elders had already decreed.
He shifted on the chair. "I know, I kind of" he hesitated "I go to check on the baby" he blurted out "Make sure it's okay, talk to them" he added, glancing away, a sheepish expression on his face.
"Talk to the baby?" my mouth dropped open in shock.
Of all the things I had envisioned my brother saying, it had not been that. So, it wasn't Isabelle he was going to see, but his child. I was surprised but didn't fault him. However, it was still a sore point for Regan, so I guessed he was keeping it under wraps.
Hopefully, he and Regan would be able to work things out before the baby was born. Both of them seemed to have their own personal issues when it came to dealing with Isabelle and Xander's unborn child. I didn't want to interfere but I knew it affected me as well. I too, would be expected to treat the child as my own. Something, I hated to admit, I wasn't entirely sure I could do. It was no wonder Regan was filled with self-doubt because if I had to be honest, I was filled with the same doubts and fears. A child was innocent but that didn't change the way I felt about the whole situation.
"I thought that maybe hearing my voice would be comforting" he mumbled, glancing out the window and looking sheepish.
"I won't speak a word to Regan," I told him quietly "but eventually the subject is going to come up. Isabelle is not going to 08:46 Sat, 15 Chapter 121 85%
live Xander. Once that baby gets delivered, the merciful thing would be to let her go. Waking her up to execute her seems rather over the top" I added "and more than a little cruel considering we've used her as an incubator."
"I'm aware," he said, but there was a strange look in his eyes, "But what do I tell the child, my child, when they grow up? How can I tell them that I killed their mother and forced them into a coma to give birth to the child? It makes me sound like a monster," he said miserably.
This was clearly affecting him. Why hadn't he spoken to me earlier? I would have attempted to put his mind at ease.
"You are no monster. What Isabelle did, was monstrous. Your child will never need to know the full circumstances surrounding their birth" I said, but even as I spoke, I knew that would not be the case.
The child deserved to know the truth, about who they came from, who their mother was. I sighed in resignation.
"Never mind, that's a long way away," Xander said even though his tone was not convincing.
"Regan will be your child's mother, legally, if you were to wed her," I said, giving him a sidelong glance.
It wasn't the perfect solution but it allowed me to bring up something else I had been considering lately.
"Marry her?" he asked slowly, looking at me uncertainly.
"Why not? We've already marked her and claimed her for our Luna. Are you against having a wedding, the human custom of taking one's partner for the rest of our lives? I suspect that Regan would enjoy it and it would give the pack members something to celebrate and enjoy."
"A wedding" he murmured, a spark coming back to his eyes. "You know, that could be the very thing that's needed right now. I can already picture her in a white dress" he added and I felt my mouth go dry as an image of Regan in a wedding dress flooded my mind, while my wolf wagged his tail in excitement.
She always looked beautiful but the thought of her in a wedding dress almost brought tears to my eyes.
"See, there's always something positive to be found," I told Xander excitedly, "Now all we have to do is think of a way to propose to her."
It had to be perfect. We couldn't just half-ass it.
He looked disgruntled. "Can't we just ask her if she wants to get married?" he asked blankly "What's the big deal."
Was he serious right now? I looked at him in disbelief.
I almost hit him over the head. For being the brains between us, he wasn't coming across as very intelligent right now. I was meant to be the stupid one, not him.
"Every girl wants a romantic proposal" I explained patiently as though he was a dim-witted child, "You can't just go, hey Regan, let's get married."
It sounded so coarse, so undignified. No girl would ever accept such a miserable proposal.
He still looked bewildered. "I don't see why not."
"Because it has to be special," I told him, feeling my lower lip twitch as I began to envision hitting him again "and because girls like it when you put a lot of effort into it."
"Fine," he said rolling his eyes "We'll come up with a way to ask her that meets your damn stipulations. But you're in charge of the proposal" he mocked "seeing as I'm not the romantic twin."

"I'll say" I muttered "If I let you ask, she's bound to say no. I can't even fathom the thought of letting you be in charge now."
I couldn't risk it. He was letting all this negativity with his unborn child and Heather Ramona's absence affect him.
He looked hurt by my words. "I could be romantic you know" he protested as I shook my head at him.
"Never mind. Save it for now. We're almost back at the pack house and I want to check on Regan when we get there, make sure she's okay. It's weird but" I frowned "I can't mind-link her. We might still be too far away to reach her."
"I can't reach her either," Xander said, frowning "but I wouldn't have thought we were too far out considering where we are
now."
I began to get a sense of dread inside of me, my wolf suddenly urging us to go faster, to hurry back to the packhouse.
"Drive as fast as you can" I shouted in fear, the driver looking startled "I think something's wrong with our mate. Call father" I looked at Xander who was already messaging him "and have him check on Regan." If anybody would be able to get to her in time, it was him. We weren't far but we could already be too late.
