Divorce 212
Yvette gasped, not just her, everyone in the room was staring at the big screen in shock.
Although this Blood Amber is valuable, it's really not an extraordinary item. With some careful searching, it's not too hard to find. In this setting, it can't be considered a rare gem, especially when compared to other items. Yet the price... it's simply outrageous. After the previous silence, the whole hall started buzzing with discussions about the Blood Amber. "Is the Sanchez family nuts? They're pricing this Blood Amber at 33 million, thats daylight robbery!"
"Sure, we're here for a charity auction, and we're willing to give to charity, but we're not here to be fools throwing our money away!" "Exactly. The Sanchez family must think we're a bunch of idiots to be fooled so easily!"
Even Xavier widened his eyes in surprise. Yvette, pretending to be considerate, said, "Xavier, 33 million is just too much. I bet even Hunter didn't set the price that high."
Xavier slightly furrowed his brow. He also didn't expect the Blood Amber to be sold at such a high price.
Across the table, Irene watched Hunter with a tense expression. If it had been the day before when she found out that Yasmine set the price at 33 million, she might have thought she was crazy.
But now, she suddenly understood Yasmine's intentions.
Especially after the earlier setback. If the painting hadn't been revealed, she might not have panicked so much. Morgan buying the painting of God was a kind gesture to Hunter, so there was a good chance Hunter would buy the Blood Amber.
The auctioneer began introducing, "The origin of this piece of Blood Amber is not insignificant. This Blood Amber rosary beads has a history of hundreds of years, having been worn by several priests of the Crystal Church..."
Hunter raised the wine cup by his side, took a sip, and then placed it back down.
Irene said in a moderate voice, "Ms. Sanchez, is this Blood Amber rosary beads really worth that much money?"
Yasmine smiled lightly and said, "Ms. White, perhaps you haven't noticed yet."Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
"Notice what?" Irene was puzzled.
Yasmine spoke again, "Listen."
The auctioneer's voice came gently to their ears, "On the surface, the rosary beads don't seem to have any highlights. As we bring the camera closer, the surface of the Blood Amber is densely carved with the Bible in Greek. Such carving technique, truly remarkable skill."
As the camera zoomed in, everyone saw that the surface of the Blood Amber was indeed engraved with the Bible. Irene stopped talking, what she said earlier felt foolish, and the worst part was that Hunter heard it all clearly.
"Starting bid is 33 million," said the auctioneer. No one raised a paddle; the entire venue was silent while Yasmine relaxedly savored her wine. This wine was Hunter's private stash, Cuvée de Lumiere.
Hunter suddenly asked, "Ms. Sanchez, do you like this wine?"
Yasmine nodded slightly, "This Cuvée de Lumière smells like a gentle spring breeze, yet it tastes like the coolness of snow. Mr.
Ellis, did you use Riesling for the touch?"
"Yes," Hunter raised a sign, "33 million." He said it so casually as if he were talking about what's for dinner tonight.
The auctioneer paused for a few seconds. The hall was silent, and in that silence, his voice was particularly bright, "33 million once!
33 million twice! 33 million three times!"
Hunter smiled at Yasmine, "Nothing, I just like rosary beads."
"It's my honor to suit your taste." Yasmine nodded in acknowledgment.
Irene looked down in anger, striving to control her emotions. She knew Hunter was right next to her, and some things couldn't be done excessively. Hunter had really spent 33 million to buy the Blood Amber, and even if it were carved with the Bible, it wouldn't sell for such a high price-it had nearly doubled.
Yasmine guessed that the reason Hunter was so straightforward was probably because of the matter with the God painting.
After all the items in the charity auction were sold, the meal began. Hunter, not fond of such occasions, had already left. Irene bit her lips and stared at Yasmine, feeling that the rosary beads couldn't be Morgan's doing. She spoke coldly, "Ms. Sanchez, you're really something, choosing auction items that fit Hunter's tastes so well." Yasmine didn't hold back, "I think so too. Looks like Ms. White should really learn from me."
Irene's grip on her knife and fork tightened suddenly, and she looked at Yasmine with a stern face, "Ms. Sanchez, don't celebrate too early." Impressing Hunter doesn't mean she has secured the land; there's still a chance for her. Halfway through the meal, a man suddenly appeared and approached Yasmine and Mr. Sanchez, speaking respectfully, "Ms.
Sanchez, Mr. Sanchez, Mr. Ellis requests your presence."
Everyone present noticed the scene. Irene felt a tightening in her chest. Why did Hunter want to meet them alone? Yonas glanced at Yasmine's back with a complicated expression.
In the lounge on the second floor, Hunter sat on the sofa resting his eyes. Yasmine and Morgan walked up to him, "Hunter?"
Hunter slowly opened his eyes, "Sit." Skipping the pleasantries, he went straight to the point, "I know you've put a lot of effort into the Emerald Isle issue. Developing a flight route is a good opportunity for the island." Morgan got straight to the point, "Two weeks ago, there were rumors that you were going to sell the land on Emerald Isle. Is that true?" "False." Hunter's tone was serious.
Yasmine and Morgan exchanged a glance, surprised to find out that it was actually false? This fake news had fooled everyone in Soucrity.
"It's true that I want to sell the land, but the news about the route is fake," Hunter said leisurely.
Yasmine held back her shock. This was even more startling than the matter of Emerald Isle.
"Why is it like this?" Yasmine asked.
Hunter continued, "The route isn't near Emerald Isle; it's near Crescent Isle, closer to the Inter-Island Bridge."
"How could it be Crescent Isle?" Morgan murmured to himself. He had never heard this news before. Crescent Isle, like Emerald Isle, was surrounded by the sea and perfect for building a resort.
Morgan smiled wryly. They had put all their effort into buying Emerald Isle, along with all those people downstairs. So who spread the news initially? And why did everyone believe it?
Hunter smiled at Yasmine, "What made you think of buying that painting?" He had observed it clearly earlier; it was this girl who had Morgan bid for it.
Yasmine said seriously, "Mr. Ellis, even though I'm not a Christian, I understand that a portrait of God is sacred and must not be desecrated. You, a believer, respect God the most."
"Such a simple truth, yet some people just don't get it." Hunter's gaze turned dark for a moment. "In a month, the Land Bureau will hold a land auction, and Crescent Isle is one of the lots. However, the shipping route info won't be released at the same time. I am not going to tell anyone else about this, consider it my thanks for the portrait of God." Hunter slowly closed his eyes. Yasmine and Morgan wisely went downstairs, not expecting that even though Blood Amber didn't acquire the plot of land, they gained crucial intel.
