Lenora and Zachary Chapter 522
Chapter 522 Forced Marriage
In the director's office of Fuller Group, the secretary's internal line rang through. "Mr. Fuller, Mr. Wilson has arrived in the reception room. Are you free now?"
Zachary glanced at his wristwatch and the schedule beside him, nonchalantly stating, "I have a meeting in ten minutes. Let him wait."
"All right."
After hanging up the phone, the secretary brewed two cups of coffee. With a professional smile on her face, she walked into the reception room, placing the coffee unhurriedly before Bjorn and Avril. In fluent Uprian, she said, "Mr. Wilson, please enjoy your coffee. Mr. Fuller is in a meeting. Please wait here for a moment."
Bjorn casually glanced at the coffee on the table, maintaining a calm demeanor. Hmph! You little rascal.
Avril then said sarcastically, "It's quite something that Mr. Charlton, as busy as he is, still manages to find time to meet us."noveldrama
The secretary continued to smile, feigning ignorance. "I'll step out now. If you two need anything, just call for me."
Avril asked, "How much longer will the meeting last?"
"I'm not certain about that, but once the meeting concludes, Mr. Fuller will surely come to meet the two of you immediately."
Avril wanted to say something more, but Bjorn waved at the secretary. "Leave us."
The secretary, feeling as though pardoned, quickly stepped out of the reception room.
Avril voiced his frustration, saying, "Sir, he's definitely leaving us hanging on purpose. Why are we still sitting here?"
Zachary dared to disregard them so blatantly because they were in Jacaster.
Avril thought Zachary was merely kicking them when they were down.
If it had been in Fairlake, had Zachary dared to act this way, he would have shown him a thing or two.
Bjorn was unperturbed. He took a sip of his coffee and said, "That's exactly the reaction he's aiming for. If you really leave like this, you'll be playing right into his hands." Bjorn was there for Carol's sake.
Zachary was well aware that he had come for Carol, expressing his stance in this manner. He was saying that he wouldn't agree to let Harrietta return to Fairlake with him.
If Bjorn were to leave just like that, it would be equivalent to forfeiting the opportunity to negotiate.
"In my opinion, we shouldn't have sent Ms. Carol back yesterday. Instead, we should've sent her straight to the airport. What could Charlton do then?"
"Do you think I haven't considered that? Carol and Isla don't share a mother-daughter bond. Carol relies more on her father, Charlton. If we forcefully take her away, she will resent us. I hope Carol can truly accept Meredith and me," Bjorn replied. Moreover, if he were to secretly take Carol away, Zachary could also use the same method to take her back.
Amid the constant tug of war, only Carol would end up getting hurt.
"So, are we just going to sit here and wait?"
"Patience."
Bjorn was calm and composed, casually picking up a magazine to flip through. "You still need more practice." Avril scratched the back of his head, silently taking a sip of his coffee.
"By the way, has Caesare been informed yet?"
"I've already informed him." Avril rose from his seat and moved toward the window. "I'll make another call to check."
He dialed a number, had a brief exchange, and then returned to his seat on the couch. "They said that Caesare has already taken the girl away," he reported.
"Okay." Bjorn nodded, leaning back and closing his eyes to rest.
The duo waited.
Avril glanced at his watch, his heart filled with frustration.
Twenty minutes later, the secretary walked in, holding a tray. She took away the two cups of coffee, then returned with them freshly brewed. ""Enjoy your coffee," she said.
"How much longer will Mr. Fuller's meeting last?" Avril couldn't help but ask.
The secretary offered a small smile. "It should be soon now. Please wait a bit longer. Once the meeting concludes, Mr. Fuller will be right over." Her words seemed redundant.
Avril was feeling restless, and he couldn't sit still. He ended up rising to pace around.
Unknowingly, another twenty minutes had slipped by.
The secretary came in again to serve them fresh coffee.
The secretary saw Avril open his mouth and assumed he was going to inquire about the meeting time. To her surprise, he asked, "Where is the restroom?" "Over here. Please follow me."
The secretary's lips twitched slightly, and she was struggling to suppress a laugh.
After some thought, Bjorn called Harrietta on her wristwatch.
At that time, Harrietta was taking a break between classes. She found a quiet corner to answer the call. "Hello? Granddad?"
"Hey, Carol! What are you up to?"
"I was playing on the seesaw with my classmates."
"I'm missing you. Do you also miss me?"
"I miss you too, Granddad," Harrietta uttered sweetly.
"Sweetheart, I truly wish I could see you every day. It's such a shame, though. Your father wouldn't allow you to stay with me in Fairlake for a while."
"Don't worry, Granddad. Visit me again when you come to Jacaster next time," said Harrietta.
Bjorn then grumbled, "I'm currently in Fuller Group's director's office. I want to discuss it with your father,, but he doesn't want to see me. He's making things difficult for us. Carol, since you also miss me, you surely want to go to Fairlake with me. It must be your father making decisions on his own. Hmph!"
Harrietta felt a moment of unease. "Granddad, my daddy is just worried about me." "Don't worry. I will convince your father. Just wait. You'll be going to Fairlake with me." "Huh? Granddad, I-"
"It's settled, then. I'm going to meet your father now." Bjorn ended the call abruptly.
Harrietta listened to the busy tone on the other end of the line. What if Granddad really manages to convince Daddy?
The meeting had finally come to an end.
The secretary once again entered the reception room. "Mr. Wilson, Mr. Fuller's meeting has concluded. He requests your presence in his office."
"All right."
Bjorn thought back to Harrietta's response over the phone, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. He picked up his intricately carved walking stick and followed the secretary toward Zachary's office.
When Bjorn entered, Zachary was standing with his back to the door, in front of the massive floor-to-ceiling window, as if he had just finished a phone call.
He was dressed in a simple shirt and trousers, all in black, giving off an air of deep restraint. A black belt was fastened around his waist. Viewed from behind, his figure appeared even more upright, with broad shoulders tapering down to a narrow
waist.
Upon hearing the sound, he turned around, casually placing his phone on the office desk. He gave a light smile, gesturing toward the couch in the reception area. He then walked over, saying, "My apologies for the wait. Please, have a seat." The language used was Clusian.
Bjorn sharply glanced at the young man standing before him. As he settled down on the couch, he said in Uprian, "Thankfully, the secretary explained that you were busy, Mr. Fuller. Otherwise, I might have thought I wasn't welcome here!" Before coming to Jacaster, Bjorn had already watched some of Zachary's videos online.
To be fair, he was quite handsome and had a certain degree of capability. It was no wonder he occupied such a prominent place in Isla's thoughts.
Bjorn would be quite satisfied if Zachary were to be his son-in-law.
However, Bjorn had a particular distaste for Zachary, and he hardly ever treated Zachary with any kindness.
With a serene smile, Zachary uttered in Clusian, "I apologize if my hospitality has been lacking. May I ask why you're seeking me out, Sir? Is it about your daughter, or is it about Hattie?"
Hmph! He's still putting on an act! Bjorn was certain Zachary knew the reason for the visit.
"A few days ago, I unexpectedly learned that my daughter, Isla, had a child five years ago, and you are the father. I'm now aware of the circumstances. Isla has made grave mistake because of her affection for you. So, I must ask you this. Are you willing to be with Isla?" Bjorn asked.
"Sir, you already know the answer to that question." Zachary chuckled, "My wife and I are deeply in love, and she is already carrying our child."
"Since you're about to have another child, Carol staying here will only cause inconveniences. I intend to take her back to Fairlake," Bjorn firmly stated his purpose.
What do you think?
