No Longer Lovesick After a Memory Loss

Chapter 386 Prey

Chapter 386 Prey

Strategist’s voice grew impatient, prompting Freya to turn and approach the car with its headlights on.

As Brisa watched Freya advance, anger boiled within her. “D*mn it! They used me as bait! I won’t let them get away with this!” She reached for her gun, but Inken stopped her.

Inken, who typically appeared frail, now looked determined. With the headlights casting their glow, he noticed the nearby houses in ruins and gun muzzles ominously protruding through shattered windows. Hence, he cautioned, “Brisa, let’s not act recklessly.”

Unbeknownst to Freya, a person with a silver mask stood behind the headlights, gleaming eerily. Despite her injured leg, she stared at that figure and limped forward. As she approached the car, a beautiful woman stepped out, holding a custom-made handcuff

Freya looked down as the woman began to handcuff her. These cuffs were noticeably heavier than. standard ones, and Freya could feel their weight. She also noticed small green dots on them that glowed faintly.

The woman warned, “Don’t try to escape. These cuffs are rigged to explode upon detecting excessive force.”

Freya met the woman’s gaze with unwavering determination and asked, “Are you Moonblade?”

However, the woman met Freya’s gaze with a hint of contempt. “What if I am?”

Freya pursed her lips and recalled that this woman had killed Melissa’s boyfriend, Benjamin.

Later, she was pushed into the backseat of a spacious modified jeep, seated beside a man in a silver mask. Then, Moonblade hopped into the vehicle and settled in the front passenger seat.

“Finish them off!” Strategist remarked lazily, resting his arm on the car window, and gestured with his finger.

Freya’s anxiety surged. “You promised me you’d let them go!”

In the dimly lit car, he lifted his mask and lowered his head, revealing piercing, sharp eyes. Behind that mask, a sly smile played on Jamie’s lips as he remarked, “Miss Kaufmann, why do you trust everyone so easily? That’s not good.”

After hearing this, she clenched her teeth and saw Inken collapsed in the distance. She glanced at the handcuffs on her wrists and seethed, “You’ve failed to keep your word. Since you couldn’t keep your promise, go to hell!” Without hesitation, she made a sudden move, using her considerable strength to lunge forward and loop the chain between her handcuffs around his neck.

Moonblade quickly armed herself and aimed at them.

In this confined space, Freya knew she had nowhere to hide. Hence, she hoped the handcuffs in her hands would explode, taking everyone in the car down with her. She knew that if she took out Jamie and Moonblade, it might give Brisa and Inken a chance to escape. Then, she gritted her teeth, and with Radley’s image in her mind, she pushed herself to her limits.

At that moment, Jamie struggled as the chain between her handcuffs tightened around his neck. He quickly gestured for Moonblade to hold off.

However, Freya remained resolute, her eyes cold and determined. She knew taking him out would end the crisis, even if it meant risking her life.

“Miss Kaufmann, release him!” Moonblade’s voice was cold, and she tightened her grip on her weapon. She couldn’t fathom why, even though he was being strangled, he prevented her from shooting Freya.

Despite the excruciating pain in her bleeding leg, Freya focused all her strength on the green light of the handcuffs, determined to turn it red. She closed her eyes and concentrated intensely.

Moonblade grew increasingly anxious when she noticed this. “Mr. Strategist!”

Though his face drained of color from the strangulation, Jamie remained silent.

Moonblade clenched her teeth, contemplating that she might defy his orders and shoot Freya if he persisted in his silence.

Just then, Freya’s grip on the man began to weaken, and she started experiencing double vision due to blood loss. Sensing her faltering hold and labored breathing, he grabbed her hand and forcefully pulled her forward.

Although she tried to hold on, he managed to break free. He leaned back, visible marks on his neck, and sighed, “Miss Kaufmann, it seems no matter how cautious I am with you, it’s never enough.” NôvelDrama.Org is the owner.

Following this, she struggled to remain conscious as bursts of white light blurred her vision. She gritted. her teeth but was haunted by the image of Inken collapsing.

While he observed the hatred in her eyes with amusement, he adjusted his suit collar and sat up. “Don’t worry, those darts were loaded with tranquilizers. Your strength worries me. I was afraid that if I let them go, we wouldn’t be able to leave Caltun after our departure.”

She jolted back to reality, forcing herself to stay focused by pinching the wound on her leg. Her vision sharpened, and she saw the man’s face looming close with a teasing smile. Yet, she couldn’t help but notice. the contempt in his eyes-a malicious smile as if he were toying with prey. “Jamie, what’s your game here?”

“Hmm?” Jamie played with Freya’s hair and grinned. Thave my reasons for kidnapping you, of course. Then, he chuckled before adding, “You should take a rest. Others won’t even make it here alive.”

Before she could respond, she noticed him pulling out a silver needle. Her heart raced, and before she could react, the needle was heading straight for her. As her eyes closed and she slumped into his arms, he nonchalantly disposed of the needle out the car window.

Then, Moonblade turned around and asked, “Mr. Strategist, are you okay?”

Jamie remained composed and requested, “I’m fine. Hand me the medical kit.”

A silver medical kit was promptly handed to him. Then, he used tweezers to extract the bullet lodged in Freya’s leg. Even in her unconscious state, she groaned in pain. He paused briefly, then continued the procedure with care. After dressing her wound and administering anti-inflammatory medicine, he gently returned her to her seat.

“Boss, is this woman really that important?” the driver asked.

Moonblade couldn’t help but interject, “Even if she has the book, we can continue to interrogate her when she’s conscious. We could go as far as breaking her legs until she tells us.”

Jamie’s expression turned cold. “Moonblade, you’ve been speaking out of turn lately.”

“I apologize.”

As his gaze fell upon Freya’s hands, he noticed their delicate beauty, resembling those of a pianist- flawless and perfect. He reached out and lightly pinched her fingers, feeling the calluses on her fingertips. A faint smile appeared on his lips as he envisioned these hands serving a significant purpose.

Moonblade caught a glimpse of Jamie’s actions and was taken aback. She knew he had always been. ruthless, even showing no hesitation when killing a renowned female celebrity during a mission in Mutrya. Yet, witnessing his contrasting demeanor now left her astonished.
