Chapter 49
Read My Past is Just Prologue By Louisa Dillon Chapter 49 – She Was Happy with Another Man.
“I know.”
Orville resisted his disappointment and maintained the manners, “This is a gift from a friend. We are
friends, aren’t we?”
His eyes were slightly red.
Janet didn’t know how to react.
How could she say no to him again?
She sighed slightly and accepted the roses, “Of course we are friends.”
All good intentions deserve to be treated kindly.
She took a box from her bag, “I’ve got a gift for you, too. I hope you will like it.”
She gave it to Orville.
It was a small gift.
She thought, “I will buy something more precious for him.”
Orville was overwhelmed with surprise, “Of course I like it. I like anything you give to me.”
He was happy enough that she accepted his gift.
He opened it. It was a pocket watch with a sapphire surface inlaid with blue diamonds and platinum. It
was a perfect gift for
men.
His gift was an orchid brooch, wrapped in special enamel, showing a glowing iris blue color. It suited
Janet’s outfit.
Janet smiled, “Thank you for the gift. I like it. And I’m glad you like my gift.”
She felt quite relieved. She was glad they were frank with each other.
“I do!”
Orville was happy, too.
He was not afraid of challenges. He wouldn’t give up on Janet.
He liked the feeling of conquering.
He appreciated her frankness, which made him like her more.
They both enjoyed the meal. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
Orville knew Janet more.
After the meal, they walked out of the restaurant and chatted happily.
Orville said, “I’m glad you like the restaurant.”
Janet said, “Yes, I do. I would like to try other food here.”
“Nice! Actually, this is my restaurant. Next time you want to eat the food here, just let me know.”
The night breeze was cold. He took off his coat, helped Janet wear it, and opened the car door for her.
“It’s yours?”
Janet was a little surprised. She got into the car and smiled, “You treated me in your restaurant. Thank
you.”
“How about you invite me to your house to have dinner next time?”
Orville never let a chance slide away.
Janet raised her eyebrows and smiled, “If there is a chance, yes.”
“Deal!”
Orville was overjoyed.
He got into the car and started it.
They didn’t notice Nathaniel’s car was parked opposite the road.
She was so happy.
He stared at Janet.
He had never seen her so happy in the past three years.
They were intimate.
“Mr. Longfellow, is that Miss Longfellow?”
His assistant Alfred asked.
He was trying to imply that they divorced.
He was too bold.
“Yes.”
Nathaniel withdrew his gaze indifferently.
Alfred asked, “Where are we going now?”
He said he wanted to try the fish here.
“Back to the office.”
He said coldly.
Alfred sighed and restarted the car.
Janet had a great night.
