Chapter 65
Chapter 65
Then, she added, “Dad, that Aunt Cheryl is also a bad person! She’s always trying to get Mom in trouble and even came here a few times just to insult and hit Mom! Mom even knelt to beg her for mercy once, but she took no notice. She even pinched me that one time!”
With that, Jovie shuddered as though reliving the bad memory and finally clutched Liam’s arm. “Dad, please don’t let Mom go. They’re all bad people who will take advantage of Mom!”
A glimmer of menace flashed through Liam’s eyes.
The Stone family and Cheryl would pay the price for what they had done to Celena.
Liam could feel Jovie still trembling in his arms, so he gently stroked her hair and reassured her, “Jovie, they’re your mother’s family, and, you know Mom has been wanting to visit them for a long time now!”
Jovie pouted and said, “Well, if that’s the case, I’ll go with her so I can protect her! You’re coming too, right, Dad? We’ll protect Mom together and make sure no one dares to lay a finger on her!”
“You’re such a good girl, Jovie! Of course, I’ll be going, too. I’ll protect both you and your mother!” Liam gazed tenderly at the little girl in his arms and stroked her hair once more. Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
Jovie chuckled at this, then wrapped her arms around Liam’s neck and pressed a wet kiss onto his cheek. Then, she burst into giggles as though she could not believe what she had gotten away with.
Liam was momentarily stunned by this sudden display of affection, but soon, he was overcome with joy! He hugged Jovie tighter and pressed a few kisses of his own on her rosy cheeks.
Jovie shoved him away and whined, “Dad, you’re slobbering all over me!”
“Alright, alright. I’ll stop now!” With that, he let go of her and put her back on the window ledge, where the two of them basked in the warm afternoon sun together.
Calum, who had been standing guard outside the room, smiled when. he heard Jovie and Liam’s laughter coming out from inside the room.
Liam finally came out a while later but froze when he saw Calum grinning at him. “What are you smiling about?” he asked in puzzlement.
Calum immediately looked serious and replied, “Sir, I was just smiling because I had never heard you laugh like that before!”
Liam’s smile did not falter. Instead, he asked, “Is that so?”
“Yes, sir. You’ve never laughed so wholeheartedly before!”
Liam grinned at this, then instructed him, “I need you to help me prepare some gifts. Tomorrow is Celena’s grandfather’s birthday party, and we need to show up with something extravagant so people don’t look down on her!”
Calum nodded. “What kind of gift are you thinking of, sir?”
“I trust you! All I want is for Celena to become the center of attention tomorrow. I’m going to make sure everyone changes their mind about her! I will make sure that the Stones regret ever having done what they did to Celena in the past! I will make them get on their knees and beg her for forgiveness!”
With that, the smile disappeared from Liam’s face and was instead replaced by a cold, unmoving scowl. If it were not for Celena, he would have killed the Stones right on the spot that day. He would not have let them live even another day!
Liam sneered at the thought of this. He had gatecrashed Cheryl and Patrick’s engagement party the other day, and now the Stones were hosting yet another extravagant party for Reginald. This was the perfect opportunity for Liam to strike!
