Divorce LONG 231
At that moment, Julia seemed to remember something and said, “Isn’t Harry’s company hiring right now? I’m sure they have a position that would suit her. I’ll call Harry later and ask.”
Franklin smiled upon hearing this and replied, “Alright.”
Jane knew who Harry was. She had heard that he and Franklin had grown up together and were childhood friends, and that he greatly admired Julia.
Whenever Julia had encountered any issues in the past, Harry would always be there to help.
Hearing this, Jane didn’t plan to rely on others, but just as she was about to speak, Lauren immediately chimed in with gratitude, “Thank you, Julia. I’ll leave this matter to you.”
Julia smiled and replied, “It’s no trouble.”
After that, Franklin and Julia didn’t continue discussing Jane’s matter. They sat together, speaking in low voices, clearly enjoying each other’s company as though they had endless topics to talk about. Their ease and chemistry were evident.
Seeing their strong bond, Jane couldn’t help but think about how today, on her own, she had gone shopping alone.
She glanced over at Sophia and asked, “Do you know… when will they get divorced?”
Sophia took a moment to process, then realized that “they” referred to Maggie and Franklin. She curled her lips and replied, “My brother–in–law said it’ll be soon, but the property division is a bit tricky.
He doesn’t want Maggie to keep using the financial issue to meddle in his and my sister’s relationship, so he wants to settle the financial matters first before finalizing the divorce.”
Jane felt relieved upon hearing that Maggie would be receiving some of the assets.
She had heard rumors that Franklin despised Maggie, and she had thought that during the divorce, Franklin might not even give her a share of the property.
As Sophia spoke about the property division, her tone shifted, and she seemed to become somewhat irritated. She let out a huff before adding,
“If it weren’t for my brother–in–law worrying that if he didn’t give that woman some assets, she’d go cry to

Old Madam Brown and cause trouble, he wouldn’t have given her a single thing!
He just wants to get it over with so that she doesn’t keep bringing up money every time she wants to interfere with him and my sister.”
Jane nodded slightly, not quite sure how to respond. She hesitated, then asked, “So… she only gets a small part of the property?”
Sophia sneered, “It’s not much. I mean, it’s a lot for someone like her, but in the grand scheme of things, it’s nothing.
My brother–in–law made sure to give her a little something so that it looks like he didn’t take everything. But it’s all just for show. There’s nothing really substantial in it.”
Jane understood. Given Franklin’s wealth, it was clear that what Maggie received was just a fraction of what he had. However, to people like Sophia and her sister, it was still a considerable amount.
For them, it probably felt like a significant loss, as the money that should have stayed within their family was now going to someone they resented.
At this point, Sophia remembered what Julia had said earlier about Jane potentially working at Harry’s
company.
She shot a pointed glance at Jane and said, “If you go work at Harry’s company, make sure you keep an eye on him. Don’t let any other women get close to him, got it?”
Jane had heard from Lauren that Sophia had a crush on Franklin’s friend, who also happened to be from an elite family in the city. However, that person seemed to have no interest in Sophia. noveldrama
Upon hearing Sophia’s request, Jane didn’t know how to respond. She replied cautiously, “Well… it’s not settled yet. I might not even get the job at the Becker Group.”
Sophia scoffed, “You don’t know? Once my sister makes the call, Harry will definitely agree. Don’t worry
about it.”
Jane could only nod, feeling a bit overwhelmed. “Okay…”
As Franklin had other matters to attend to, he got ready to leave. The Brown family and the Green family all sent him off together, showing great respect.
Once Franklin was gone, Lauren continued to push for Jane to settle down in the city. After his departure, Lauren once again brought up the matter of asking Harry for help with Jane’s job search.
