Mistake With The Alpha Chapter 18
Jaylen's POV
I stopped by the cafe to get myself a coffee when I heard some maids talk.
"Sam hasn't resumed work yet" she said to the one standing beside her.
"Yes. I think she's running more lapses than usual today. Did she offend the Alpha more?" She asked.
"How am I to know but it still baffled me what she could have done to warrant the Alpha's anger. She's such a calm girl" the maid said with pity.
"Even the calm sometimes falls into a trap. Who knows what happened?".
"But I do pity her. She hates to run, and now she's getting it as a punishment," she said.
I couldn't wait to listen to their conversation again. I looked at my wristwatch. She should have stopped running over two hours ago. I didn't believe that she would still be there since she was always eager to finish her fifty lapses. I couldn't help but to go check on her.
"I'm doing this because I don't want people to think that I'm a wicked alpha," I said to myself.
Truely, when I got there I saw her still running. I even noticed that her legs were already shaking. I called her three times but she wouldn't hear me. Everyone was looking at her. Then I talked with a powerful voice that she couldn't resist. She stopped and looked at me. Then her legs gave in and she fell. I wanted to run to help her but my pride as an Alpha wouldn't let me. So I stood there and watched her.
I wasn't happy with her at all. I felt like shouting at her but I knew it would reveal my concern. After I scolded her and left without looking back to see if I stood up or not.
I was almost at my office when my conscience wouldn't let me rest. I know I needed to see if her legs were fine. As I was heading back, I saw my Gemma bearing her in his hands. Then I knew I messed up.
I wasn't happy at the way I saw him carry her. Even my wolf was angry which I didn't know why. He wouldn't even put her down with the way I spoke with him. I just watched him as he took her to the clinic.
I blamed all these on those on the field. I thought if they had helped her to call the carrier my Gemma wouldn't have reasons to bear her in his hands. I walked angrily to the field.
"Gather" I said with my alpha voice.
Everyone ran close to me in a hurry leaving whatever they were doing. With the way I was boiling, they knew they were so dead.Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
"I thought I trained you better than to treat one of your own like an outcast. How dare you act heartless in my pack. How dare you leave someone so helpless and not try to help. So if she was dying, you would have just let her die?"
My anger was rising and they were all shaking. Everywhere was so silent.
"I'm so disappointed in you all. If you treat your own like this, how will you treat a visitor?"
None of them uttered a word. Not even an apology. They know they are so dead if they dare to open their mouths while I'm still talking.
"Now for your heartless attitude, you warriors that's present here, will go to the pack farmland and till it for two weeks without no one's help and if I dare to hear anything about misconduct from our farmers, just know that you are so dead. Did I make myself clear?" "Yes, Alpha," they chorused.
"As for those of you still in training, I'll spare you for today. If this repeats itself again, you'll all work in the sewage," I said. "Now to the farm," I ordered, then turned to leave.
I didn't do this because of Sam, but I did it to discipline my members. I don't want enmity between them.
I walked back to my office, still feeling guilty about not being there to watch over the poor girl. I know she wasn't running on her own accord. They must have said something to provoke her that she was lost in her pain and kept on running. I don't know what might have happened if I didn't get there to stop her.
