Chapter 45 Have You Ever Liked Me
The middle-aged man failed to take advantage of Alicia and left dejectedly.
Alicia looked up and met Edmond's deep, captivating eyes. Unexplainably, she felt her nervousness disappear. Suddenly she felt at ease.
He caught her bewildered expression and then glanced at her slightly parted, tantalizing, cherry-like lips.
He clasped Alicia's slender waist, and the subtle scent of her shower gel mingled with his cologne.
"Why are you here?" Alicia regained her senses, looked away, and broke free of his embrace.
Edmond pulled her back, opened the freezer, and pressed his head against her shoulder, choosing his food.
From any angle, it looked like he was hugging Alicia from behind.
"Just stopping by on my way home." He deliberately spoke in a seductive tone in her ear, "What should I eat?"
Alicia shivered from the cold air of the freezer. She randomly chose a pasta similar to hers, then closed the freezer and walked to the checkout counter.
On the way to the register, she looked back at him and exposed him.
"Your villa is on Panorama Alley. This is Vanilla Street. How is this place on your way home?"
"The apartment on Vanilla Street is also my home."
"That's my apartment. I bought it. It has nothing to do with you."
"Wherever you are is my home."
God knew where Edmond had learned that sweet talk. Alicia got goosebumps from his cheesy catchphrases.
So she was not in a good mood with him now.
After they paid, the cashier used a microwave to heat up their instant noodles. They found a place outside and sat down. Once seated, they fell back into silence.
Alicia and Edmond ate their late night meal without looking at their phones. They just ate quietly, concentrating on their food and not saying a word. Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
After finishing their meal, they walked back to the apartment side by side.
On the way, they passed an old ally with broken streetlights that no one bothered to fix. It was dimly lit, creating a sense of tranquility.
Alicia unconsciously slowed her pace, waiting for Edmond to speak first.
After hesitating for a few seconds, he finally asked, "Have you ever been attracted to me?"
Alicia hadn't expected Edmond to ask such a direct question. Her head seemed to buzz for several seconds, leaving her at a loss for words.
"What about you?" Hearing her voice tremble, Alicia realized how anxious she was. She was eager to hear Edmond's answer, but also afraid of what he might say.
"The words I told you on the plane were not lies."
I think we can be together. That was what he said.
But this time Edmond did not give a direct answer because he was also afraid.
They both cherished their pride so much. It was impossible for them to admit their feelings until they were sure of each other's feelings.
She was afraid that he had never liked her, while he was also afraid that her recent change and concern for him was just him being presumptuous.
Alicia suddenly didn't know what to say.
As they walked out of their old, dimly lit ally, the bright streetlights made them instinctively put their masks back on.
He no longer pursued the question. But Alicia clearly sensed that Edmond's mood was a bit down because he didn't get an answer.
So when they went downstairs to her apartment, she took the initiative, put her hand in Edmond's pocket and held his hand.
Edmond was stunned for a moment, then he realized what was happening. Immediately, he held her hand tightly, interlocking their fingers.
Bing...
The elevator doors opened with a bang.
Eli, who couldn't sleep, saw Edmond and Alicia holding hands as he stepped out of the elevator. He felt that they were holding back some strange emotions.
He almost questioned himself and thought to himself helplessly.
'For God's sake, you're both adults. Why does holding hands make you look so shy and blush?'
When they saw Eli, both Edmond and Alicia were a little stunned.
Alicia was the first to react, pulling Edmond behind her. She smiled and greeted Eli, "What a coincidence. You didn't spend the night at Grace's?"
"Why would I spend the night there?"
"After all, she's pre..."
Suddenly, Alicia stopped herself. Realizing that she had almost said something she shouldn't have, she went a little pale.
