Mafia Kings: Valentino: Chapter 119

As soon as I said I raped her, Don Vicari sprang to his feet and pulled his gun.

He wasn’t fast enough, though.

Lars was already on his feet, his gun out and pointed at Vicari before the motherfucker could aim at me.

“STOP!” Lars roared.

From there, it was a chain reaction.

Rocco, his brothers-in-law, and the foot soldiers were on their feet, reaching for their guns.

At the same time, Dario, Adriano, Niccolo, and Roberto leapt up and pulled their pistols –

And behind me, Massimo dropped his cane and pulled his.

They all aimed at Vicari –

And Rocco and the foot soldiers aimed at my family –

While the 91-year-old woman stayed seated and looked around in bewilderment.

Dario and Adriano shielded Alessandra and Bianca with their bodies.

Roberto did the same with Mei-ling –

But Rachel pulled a fuckin’ Glock out of nowhere, stood shoulder to shoulder with Lars, and aimed at Don Vicari’s head.

All of Don Vicari’s daughters ducked down and covered their children’s heads as the babies and toddlers started screaming.

And the priest?

He was down on all fours, cowering behind the altar.

The chapel was full of shouts and screams –

Like Hell.

Again, all my fucking fault.

All of it.

Don Vicari pointed his pistol at me and screamed in rage, “I’M GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU – ”

“You do, and I swear to God I’ll send you to hell!” Adriano shouted.

“LET THE WOMEN AND CHILDREN OUT!” Lars roared.

“LET THEM GO!” Dario shouted in agreement.

That made Don Vicari pause.

He kept his gun on me, but he looked down at his crying daughters and his screaming grandchildren.

I doubted he felt any real love for them –

But they were his.

And nobody fucked with his property.

Vicari glared at Dario. “Agreed. Let them go, and we settle this afterwards.”

“Agreed,” Dario said.

“GO,” Vicari snapped.

His daughters grabbed their children and ran out of the chapel as fast as they could.

But none of the women on my brother’s side moved.

“You’re not going to send your women out?” Vicari asked Dario.

“Go,” Dario whispered to Alessandra.

“No,” she said.

He looked angry. “Alessandra – ”

“My place is here with you.”

“You are carrying our child – ”

“I said, NO.”

“If she’s staying, I’m staying,” Bianca said.

Mei-ling’s only response was to hold on tighter to Roberto.

“Rachel?” Lars asked.

“Hell no,” she replied coldly as she stared over the barrel of her gun.

Behind me, Massimo yelled, “Lucia – get out!”

“FUCK no!” she shouted back.

“So be it,” Vicari snarled. “Your brother has dishonored my daughter – and thus me and my family. Not only has he broken his oath to marry her, but he raped her. You heard him; he confessed to it. He has insulted me personally, and my retribution for his actions will be – ”

“No,” said a quiet voice behind me.

It was Isabella.

I looked over at her in surprise.

She was shaking – her entire body was trembling –

But she stepped forward and said in an even louder voice, “NO.”

Don Vicari stared at her in shock and anger. “What did you just say to me?”

“Valentino’s lying,” she said.

Oh shit –

Is she gonna do what I THINK she’s gonna do?!

“Isabella – ” I whispered harshly –

“Why would he lie?” Don Vicari snarled.

“Because he’s protecting me,” Isabella said. “I’m gay, Papa. I’m in love with another woman – and he knows you’d kill me if you found out.”

There was deathly silence in the room –

And then Don Vicari pointed his gun at his daughter.

“WHO?!” he shouted.

Isabella stared him down. “No one you – ”

“Me,” Ludavica said as she stepped forward and grabbed Isabella’s hand.

Isabella looked at her –

And burst into tears.

“No – ” she pleaded –

“Yes,” Ludavica said, smiling at her through her tears. “Yes.”

Don Vicari was shaking with rage.

“How long?” he demanded.

Isabella squeezed Ludavica’s hand, then looked at her father. “Since I was 18.”

He stared at her.

“Six years?” he whispered. Then his voice rose to a shout. “Six YEARS you’ve defiled my house?! Six YEARS you committed this infamia under my roof?! I – ”

“STOP!” another voice screamed.

Everyone in the chapel looked over –

To Isabella’s great-grandmother, who was struggling to her feet.noveldrama

“STOP!” she repeated. “Put your guns away. I have something to say.”

Don Vicari stared at her. So did Rocco and the foot soldiers.

“I SAID, PUT YOUR GUNS AWAY!” she roared.

“But – Nonna,” he said, gesturing with his head towards Dario, “he’ll kill us.”

She looked over at Dario. “Don Rosolini! Do you give me your word that neither you nor any of your men – or women – will harm my son or any of his men until after I have had my say?”

“I swear on the soul of my unborn child,” Dario answered.

The old lady looked at Vicari with steely eyes. “Put your guns away. Now.”

Don Vicari looked around helplessly…

And then he slowly holstered his gun.

“Do it,” he ordered Rocco and his men.

They all looked at each other in bewilderment –

“DO IT,” Vicari shouted.

They all holstered their guns.

Dario put his away. “Everyone with me, do the same.”

Massimo, Niccolo, and Roberto hesitantly put away their pistols.

Adriano and Lars held out the longest, but when Dario glared at them, they complied.

The last holdout was Rachel.

“Babe,” Lars whispered.

“You gotta be kidding me,” she whispered back.

“Babe,” Lars said more insistently.

Rachel grumbled… then put away the Glock.

“Good,” the old lady said. “Good.”
