Love’ss 17
Chapter 17
Everyone present looked flustered. Elena’s feelings for Andrew were an open secret in the Miller family. How could Madelyn not have noticed it earlier?
As the couple had never seen eye to eye, Athena was doubtful about Madelyn’s sudden change of mind regarding the divorce. Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.
Madelyn, too, knew that she needed time to change their longtime perception. She snuggled against Athena and purred, “Grandma, I was wrong to listen to Elena and fight with Andrew. Don’t worry, that won’t happen again.”
“Mom!” As if that weren’t enough, she turned around to ask Grace for help.
Grace remained level–headed regarding Elena’s character. She had always thought Elena was a difficult woman, b
she dared not openly object to Elena because she
once saved Andrew’s life.
Swayed by Madelyn’s sweet expression, she shared her opinion, “Mom, we can trust Elena but never Amelia. God knows what she’ll turn her daughter into!”
In her eyes, Amelia, who had heartlessly dumped her own flesh and blood, was not good person.
It was a brilliant move by Grace. She shifted the blame to Amelia as it would be hard. to change Athena’s good impression of Elena in a short time.
Hearing that, Athena nodded. “Yeah. You’re right.”
She had always looked down on Amelia’s behavior. The high society of Klago City regarded Amelia as sick in the mind. How could that woman raise a normal daughter?
Besides, Athena had been fond of Madelyn since Madelyn stayed with the Millers. She wouldn’t have started to hate Madelyn had it not been for her questionable relationship with Easton and the fact she injured Andrew.
In the face of Madelyn’s change, Athena couldn’t help but take her side. Staring at Madelyn in her arms, she asked, “You said you didn’t hurt Andrew. Is that true?”
Madelyn suggested, “If you don’t believe me, you can always call that bitch over here
to confront me.”
Athena put aside her suspicion for now when she saw that Madelyn was confident enough‘ to confront Elena. However, the sight of the injured Andrew set her off again.
“Is that what Grace taught you?” She angrily tapped Madelyn on the head with a

disciplinary but loving tone.
Grace stole a glance at Andrew, but he remained stoic.
Andrew, who always struggled at explaining himself, was bound to defend Madelyn with unwavering stubbornness–a behavior that would undoubtedly incur the Millers‘ wrath. Therefore, Madelyn showed up at the Miller residence to take matters into her own hands.
She snorted after Athena scolded her. “Mom taught me well. The Garcias are the problem here!”
A look of affection flashed across Grace’s eyes. All her effort spent on Madelyn did not go to waste after all. The child even came to her defense.
Athena pinched Madelyn’s cheek in exasperation, just like what she used to do to the young Madelyn. “There’s no need for any confrontation. I’m tired after everything that happened tonight.”
Still, Athena wanted to get to the bottom of things. If she found out that Madelyn lied about Andrew’s injury, she would kick Madelyn out of the Miller family. Andrew’s well- being was where Athena and Grace drew their line.
Madelyn thoughtfully let go of Athena and shoved the velvet box into Athena’s arms. “Grandma, take good care of your belongings.”
“You little rascal,” remarked Athena, who was still very much affected by all the
events.
She hurriedly shooed Andrew and Madelyn away from the Miller residence.
When everyone left the Miller residence, Athena turned to Grace. “What do you think?
“Madelyn got into a couple of fights with Elena in the last few days. She even fired all the staff at Serenity Villa. I’ll definitely look into this matter,” Grace replied in an impassive tone.
They were aware of Elena’s feelings for Andrew, but Madelyn was unbothered by it before this. Oddly, Madelyn started to get into trouble with Elena lately, even triggering Andrew to make a move against Garcia Group.
Although Athena and Grace could not immediately draw a conclusion, they resolved to discover the truth.
On their way home to Serenity Villa, Madelyn sensed Andrew’s growing hostility. She

shot a cautious look at him. “Darling, why are you mad?”
But she knew the reason.
Andrew had barred her from visiting the Miller residence that night out of worry. After all, she had endured a lot of punishments at the Miller residence throughout their marriage. Her stubborn attitude during her visits always riled Athena up.
She could tell Andrew was genuinely furious from the look in his eyes. She held him and gently settled in his arms like a kitten.
His anger dissipated when she took the initiative to cuddle with him. She even boldly kissed him on the cheek. Blushing, she begged, “Don’t be mad at me, okay?”
He refused to budge. “Didn’t I tell you to visit Grandma tomorrow?”
“Darling, from the way you confronted Grandma and Mom tonight, would I have ended up worse if I visited them tomorrow instead of today?”
“I won’t make you suffer. He wrapped an arm around her waist. His casual comment somehow carried a weight.
She smiled sweetly at him. “I know. But Grandma and Mom will never forgive me if ! don’t face them myself.”
Athena’s and Grace’s prejudice toward Madelyn stemmed from Elena’s incitement They had been nice to Madelyn in the past.
Madelyn believed the situation would certainly take a turn for the better if they were reminded of the happier times and if her attitude softened.
“Silly girl. It’s not as simple as you think.” Hugging Madelyn, Andrew pressed his forehead against hers and remarked somberly.
Stunned, she asked, “What is it?” Was there something she wasn’t aware of?
In her past life, she had devoted most of her energy and focus to leaving Andrew. Perhaps she had missed a lot of details.
Regardless of what had happened, she was determined to stay with him.
“We’re here. Let’s get out of the car!” she reminded him.
He silently carried her out of the car. She blinked at him with curiosity, but he ignored it and kissed her on the forehead. “Just behave.”
She pouted in protest, making him smile. Her presence seemed to have cheered him
- up.
When they entered Serenity Villa, Andrew and Jason went up to the study as Andrew

was a busy man.
Madelyn’s phone buzzed when an unknown number called. She answered, “Hello?”
“Maddie.” Easton sounded disappointed.
She nearly hung up when she recognized his voice, but he quickly added, “I’m waiting for you at the entrance. I’ll come in if you don’t meet me outside.”
Huh? Hadn’t he given up?
Madelyn glanced upstairs and assumed that Andrew would remain in the study for a while. Besides, she was worried that Easton might actually barge into the house–not that she cared for Easton’s safety. But she didn’t want Andrew to get all worked up and accidentally pull his wound.
“Wait there!” She left the villa after hanging up. She hadn’t expected Easton to show. up right after she reached home.
Thinking back on his cowardly behavior at the Miller residence, she came to realize that he was more fake than Elena.
Perhaps it was Easton’s vulnerability that unraveled Andrew’s defenses in the past life.
“Maddie.” Upon seeing Madelyn, Easton tossed his cigarette onto the ground and stepped on it. Then, he tried to grab her hand with a worried expression.
She flinched. “Didn’t I tell you to call me Madelyn?”
“What’s wrong with you? Did Andrew threaten you?” Easton refused to believe that Madelyn had no feelings left for him as she was previously very eager to leave the country with him.
She rolled her eyes at Easton. “Threaten me? Oh, cut it out. Andrew and I are just flirting.”
The color drained from Easton’s face. Did she seriously describe her severe conflict with Andrew as flirting?
