Chapter 63
“Have you heard? Ms. Lewis, who disappeared for more than ten years, has come back!”
“Which Ms. Lewis?”
“Who else but Ms. Layla Lewis of the Lewis family! She’s been found!”
Two maids whispered excitedly as they hid in the garden.
“What do you mean? Hasn’t Ms. Lewis already married Mr. Jensen? If Ms. Lewis has returned, then who is Mrs. Jensen?”
The other maid snorted, glanced around to ensure no one was listening, and then spoke in a hushed tone. “You’re new here, so it’s normal you don’t know. Once, after Mr. Jensen had drunk too much, I overheard him saying he missed Ms. Layla Lewis. The woman he married wasn’t Ms. Layla Lewis but Ms. Jenna Lewis from the Lewis family!”
“What?!”
This decade–old secret sent shivers down the maid’s spine, leaving her speechless with shock.
“Wasn’t it Ms. Jenna Lewis who disappeared? Wasn’t it said that Ms. Jenna Lewis ran away from home because she was unhappy with her family’s favoritism toward Ms. Layla Lewis? So, what’s really going on now?!”
The new maid was utterly confused, a reaction anyone would have upon hearing such surprising news.
“So, the only conclusion is that Ms. Jenna Lewis was lying! Who knows what kind of scandalous things happened behind closed doors!”
“Just now, I overheard Mr. Jensen outside his door saying that Ms. Layla Lewis has returned. The woman in his room isn’t Mrs. Jensen but Ms. Layla Lewis of the Lewis family!”
The girl sat down on a bench, feeling overwhelmed. “My goodness! If this news gets out, it’ll shock the entire country! This is going to be quite the spectacle.”
“No wonder. Mrs. Jensen just said she had to go on a business trip for a while, and now she’s back so soon. Turns out, it wasn’t her who came back. When she does return, she’ll probably have no way to explain herself.”
“Hmph, I always suspected she wasn’t the real Ms. Layla Lewis. I heard Ms. Layla Lewis was very kind and never scolded the servants, but Mrs. Jensen? When does she not scold us?”
“You’re right. Let’s hope Ms. Layla Lewis becomes Mr. Jensen’s wife. I support that.”
Meanwhile, Scott was holding a cup of coffee in a castle–like villa.
The warm coffee had gone cold as he was lost in thought.
Scott’s mind was occupied with the conversation he had with Bob. Bob had said, “Ms. Lewis‘ issue is psychological. Actually, there’s a way to help her recover, which is,to make her forget the memories she doesn’t want to face.

“Specifically, to forget the person most important to her in those memories.
“It sounds simple, but since Ms. Lewis is still in a coma, we can’t get her consent.
“What if she doesn’t want to forget those memories? What then?”
As Scott thought of Layla’s most important person, his expression darkened further. He wondered, ‘Could it be that Layla had found someone she loved during her time away? Someone who could cause her such pain must have been deeply loved by her.”
He felt dejected. Just then, a flicker of determination crossed Scott’s eyes, and he picked up his phone to call Bob.
Half an hour later, Bob arrived at Jensen Villa with a backpack.
“Mr. Jensen, have you made up your mind?” he asked. Bob was actually still uncertain. After all, erasing the memory of Layla’s most important person was no small matter.
Scott’s expression was grim as he looked at Bob. “If I called you over, it means I’ve made my decision. What’s there to discuss?”
Bob paused and looked visibly frightened. “I dare not. But since this involves Ms. Lewis‘ memories, shouldn’t we ask for her opinion?”
He anxiously thought, ‘I’m caught between Mr. Jensen and Ms. Lewis of the Lewis family. As a doctor, I can’t afford to offend either.‘
Scott retorted, “Can she answer your question in her current state?! Nothing is more important than life itself. Regardless of who that person in her memory is, all I want is for her to live. That person’s identity is irrelevant!
“Let her forget that person completely. Anyone who can cause her such pain isn’t worth remembering! Begin the procedure now. From this moment on, she doesn’t need someone in her world who only brings her sorrow. I’ll take good care of her!”
Scott was resolute. He thought, ‘All Layla needs to remember is that she is the seventh heiress of the Lewis family, and she is my Layla.
Bob hesitated before replying, “Alright, okay, Mr. Jensen. I’ll do as you say!”
“She must still be in Aerionia. Let’s have someone watch all the exit points from the country, then we’ll continue the search!” Dominick was not familiar with the area, so he knew this task was best left to Ethan.
Ethan replied, “I’m on it. I’ve already started making arrangements.
As long as she’s still in Aerionia, I’m sure I can find her!”
Ethan’s expression hardened as he surveyed Willowcroft Tower. “I feel like burning this place to the ground.” NôvelDrama.Org © content.
Dominick leaned against the car and glanced over at Ethan. “Why?”
Ethan’s eyes narrowed slightly, as if recalling something.
He said, “That day, I was supposed to come here with Layla. I should have been with her.”

Ethan’s voice trailed off, as if it were drifting in from far away.
“Jenna invited Layla to come here. I should have accompanied Layla, but I had a terrible headache that day, so I let her come alone.” His guilt was palpable in every word.
Upon seeing Ethan blaming himself, Dominick patted his shoulder and assured him, “This isn’t your fault. It’s been so long. Dwelling on it won’t change anything.
“Jenna is in my custody now. Once we find Lola, I won’t let her off easily.”
Dominick’s tone was laced with barely concealed fury.
“You can stay here for now. I’ll take you home for a bit and introduce you to my family,” Ethan said. He had already accepted Dominick in his heart, so he felt it was time to introduce him to his family.
The weather was exceptionally fine today, with sunlight streaming through the floor–to–ceiling windows, gradually illuminating the
room.
At that moment, Lola’s fingers twitched on the bed, and she slowly opened her eyes.
Scott had been by her bedside for two whole days. Upon seeing Lola move, he stood up excitedly. “Are you awake?”
Lola opened and then closed her eyes again, waiting until she adjusted to the glaring sunlight before reopening them.
Her eyes were as mesmerizing as the galaxies as they shone with pure light, looking clear and unblemished.
“Scott?” she whispered.
Upon hearing her call him so intimately, Scott’s heart melted and his eyes reddened as they welled up with tears.
“Yes, I’m here,” he replied, his voice trembling uncontrollably. Upon hearing Layla call him like that after more than a decade, Scott felt as if a lifetime had passed.
Scott thought this feeling was the most beautiful in the world.
are you crying? What’s wrong? Are you ups
Lola looked at him bewilderedly. “Scott, why about something?”
Little did she know, Bob had not only made her forget her most important person, but Scott had also harbored a secret of his own.
