Loved You Once But He's My Forever (Chloe)

Chapter 507 Escape!

The next morning, I was woken up by the piercing sound of a helicopter.

Sergio was no longer in the room. I threw off the blanket and got out of bed, spotting the couple not far away boarding the helicopter and leaving.

This island had its signals blocked, so there was no route to the outside world. On most days, apart from him, I didn't even see anyone else.

Trying to call for help under his watchful eyes was nearly impossible.

As I watched my belly grow larger by the day, I couldn't help but wonder how anxious Carter must be out there.

Toward the later stages, nights became a torment for me. As the baby grew, it pressed against my organs, causing frequent acid reflux that burned my esophagus painfully.

Sergio would make soups and porridge for me, spoon-feeding me bit by bit.

When I couldn't sleep at night, he hardly rested either.

Whenever I needed to go to the bathroom, he would stand guard outside the door, worried that something might happen to me with my big belly.

"Just one more month. Hang in there," he said, helping me back onto the bed.

Forget one month-every day, every second was pure torture.

Lying down was uncomfortable. Sitting for too long made me ache all over, and I couldn't walk far without hurting my back and waist.

In a hoarse voice, I said to him, "You haven't been resting well either these days. Go to sleep. I'll be fine on my own."

He noticed the burn in my esophagus caused by stomach acid and looked at me with a pained expression. "Does it still hurt? Don't worry, I'm here with you."

Hurt? It was far beyond that. My entire body felt uncomfortable.

Although my face hadn't grown rounder and my limbs remained slender, my internal organs were being squeezed unbearably.

When the little ones pressed their hands and feet against my belly, I could already see the faint outlines clearly.

That was my only comfort.

"Yeah, it's a bit uncomfortable."

He let out a sigh. "If you're really struggling, I can contact a doctor for an evaluation. If everything checks out, you can have a C-section and deliver the babies early."

"No."

I refused immediately. How could I be so selfish?

When the time comes naturally, the babies should stay in the womb to absorb nutrients. While modern medical technology can keep premature babies born at eight months alive, I was carrying twins. Twins are smaller than single babies, and even if I'm suffering, it's worth it for them to grow healthy and strong. But...

How is their father doing now? Does he miss us, just as I'm thinking about him?

Sergio was good to me, but my heart was already filled with someone else. There was no space left for him.

For the sake of the children, I could only tread carefully around him.

Just a little over a month left, and I would finally meet my babies.

All the previous plans had fallen apart. I could barely walk at this point, so I couldn't think of anything else except safely delivering my children and figuring out what to do next.

That night, I felt restless, perhaps from the constant discomfort.

Even the sea seemed unusually uneasy tonight-the wind had picked up.

The glass was streaked with slanting rain, and a cold gust blew in through the balcony window, sending a chill through me.

Before I could get up, Sergio had already shut the window.

"Looks like there's going to be a thunderstorm tonight. Do you need noise-canceling headphones?" "No, I'm fine."

I got up, cradling my belly as I paced around the room. Nights like this made me feel uneasy.

At this moment, someone knocked on the door. "Boss, there's something that requires your attention." There were quite a few people on this island, from cooks to cleaners, logistics staff, doctors, and bodyguards.

Occasionally, when I took walks along the shoreline, I'd see security personnel patrolling.

However, they'd been strictly ordered not to interact with me.

For someone to disturb Sergio at this hour, it was clear the matter was serious.

Sergio helped me sit down on the edge of the bed. "Rest for now. I'll be back soon. Take care of yourself." "Alright."

He left in a hurry, and as I heard the door close, my heart began racing even faster.

What could require his attention in the middle of the night?

After all, my safety was deeply tied to Sergio.

That couple had clearly shown intent to harm me. Could they have decided to act tonight?

At this moment, I felt like a fish on a chopping block, completely helpless. Heavily pregnant, there was nowhere I could run.

The babies...

I thought of the message left on the note. The Ligendzas had always coveted the Boltons' fortune, and I was carrying the Boltons' grandchildren.

The more I thought about it, the more uneasy I felt.

If it wasn't the Ligendzas, then there was only one other possibility that could make Sergio this tense- Carter had found us!

But which was it? There was no way I could sleep now.

Sergio came back quickly. I looked up at him. "What happened?"

"Coco, I'm afraid we need to leave here immediately. It's no longer safe."

"Are we exposed?"

"Yes... the person I should've addressed as 'Grandma' has made her move. Her target is you. If you fall into her hands, the consequences will be unimaginable. Coco, come with me."

I was only wearing a simple cotton pajama set, but Sergio threw a down jacket over my shoulders.

"Grab anything important. You have

five minutes to pack. The weather

makes flying a helicopter too risky-we'll have to leave by boat.

The sea conditions aren't great, but

we have no choice."

"Alright."

He quickly got to work preparing. After all, I was heavily pregnant, and it wasn't as simple as just leaving at a moment's notice.

He didn't know yet where he'd take me, but we needed to bring water, food, and warm clothes for the journey.

A wave of panic surged in my heart. For a moment, I didn't even know what to pack. I opened the wardrobe and haphazardly shoved a few things into a bag.

In my rush, I accidentally grabbed a small crossbody bag and stuffed it in.

The rabbit keychain attached to it hit the bottom of the bag with a loud "thump." I wasn't sure what material it was made of.

There was no time to think about it. I quickly grabbed some spare clothes and carefully made my way downstairs, cradling my belly.

"Slow down. Don't hurt yourself."

Outside, a bodyguard held an umbrella to shield me from the wind and rain, but the downpour was so heavy that raindrops still splattered onto me.

Sergio held onto my waist, worried I might slip.

After just a few steps, he bent down and scooped me up into his arms. "Coco, I'm sorry, but this is the only way."

His strides quickened significantly. Judging by his urgency, it was clear that whoever was coming wasn't holding back.

By the time we reached the shore, our pursuers would already be there.

Fortunately, I had always been light, and even with my pregnancy weight, it was mostly in my belly. Sergio carried me effortlessly, striding onto the speedboat with ease.

Compared to the other completely exposed boats, this one at least offered some shelter from the wind. Without considering the stormy conditions, the driver slammed on the throttle and sped off as fast as the boat could go.

The vast ocean was pitch black, with only the faint glow from the boat's lights illuminating the raging storm outside, making it all the more terrifying.

Cold rain mixed with crashing waves

struck the boat relentlessly, and

every surge of the waves made it

feel like the sea could swallow us at

any moment. Unconsciously, 10

clutched tightly onto Sergio's sleeve.

"Why is your grandmother doing this? Is she after my children?"

"Yes. She's insane."

"What kind of insanity?"

"Love turned into hate. She's determined to destroy everything that belonged to Mr. Bolton. If she can't have it, she'll ruin it."

I didn't fully understand the depth of the situation. "So, you're saying your grandmother had feelings for Mr. Bolton?"

Sergio's demeanor was restrained,

clearly reluctant to comment further

ine

on the matter. He merely responded lightly, "That's a story from their generation. I never thought she'd lose her mind to this extent-still unwilling to let go even today Planning this ambush during such extreme weather... she clearly wants to trap us with no escape. Coco, please forgive me..."

I knew he was doing everything he could to protect me. I couldn't blame him for any of this.

"It's okay. We'll make it out of this."

The speedboat swayed violently with the waves as though riding a rollercoaster, soaring high one moment and crashing down the next. Each jolt made my heart tighten.

Sergio gripped my hand firmly, trying to soothe me, his presence a steady anchor in the chaos.noveldrama

In this life-or-death situation, it seemed my babies could sense the danger as well. They were unusually

still, not even the slightest movement.

Normally, they'd give me a kick or two when I got up to use the bathroom, but now... silence.

I gently placed a hand on my belly, silently praying. It's going to be okay. It has to be...

Suddenly, the distant sound of helicopter rotors pierced through the storm.
