CHAPTER 33
CHAPTER 33
Chapter 33 Chapter 33 Summer Frost It’s been hours after the incident, but it won’t stop replaying in my head. Every single word from earlier kept playing in my head all over again. The sound of the knock on my door disrupted my thoughts. “Who’s there?” “Mommy,” Jack’s voice sounded from outside, and I quickly stood up from the bed and went to open the door, revealing my two boys. They hugged me warmly. “Mommy, are you still mad at us?” Jake looked up at me, his lips pouted “You’ve not spoken to us s us since you got back. You usually come to check on us whenever you return home, but you didn’t today. And you didn’t bring us home by yourself earlier. Are you still angry, mommy?” Jack looked at me and blinked his eyes innocently. “Where did you go, Mommy? Why was uncle Miguel the one that brought us home? Did you go to uncle Xander’s? I’m sorry, Mommy. It’s all my fault. I should’ve listened to Jack,” “Mommy… Please don’t be mad at us. This won’t happen again, I promise,” Jack added. “Come here,” I held their hands and led them inside the room. How could I be mad at my two handsome princes? “I’m not mad at you two. I was just a little tired and wanted to rest…” I sat them on my lap while sitting on the bed. “I came earlier to check on you, but you were sleeping, so I didn’t want to wake you up,” I ruffled their hair, and they smiled brightly- “You are not mad at us?” Jack raised his eyebrows, and I nodded. “We can still hang out with uncle…” “No, you can’t,” Jake’s face went pale with disappointment.
“He is a stranger, so you can’t hang out with him,” “Hmm,” They slowly nodded. “Come on, boys. Why don’t we have dinner together? It’s almost dinner time,” I smiled at them after I checked the time and realized it was past 7pm. “Alright, Mommy.”“ “One minute. I’ll be back,” After I changed into something comfy, I left the room with them and headed downstairs to the dining room. “Oh, you’re here, ma’am… I was about to come call you for dinner,” Chloe smiled at me as soon as she saw me. I didn’t mean to employ Chloe as my kid’s nanny and also our chef, but what would I have done when she has cooking skills? I couldn’t let that go to waste, right? Besides, she volunteered to do this for extra cash. “Thank you. Where is Miguel?” Chapter 33 “He said he was going to shower,” “Alright. Do you want to have dinner with us? You should join us,” I pulled out a chair and sat after she helped the kids on their various chairs. “No, ma’am. I will eat in my…” “I insist,” “Alright, ma’am,” She slowly nodded her head shyly. Chloe pulled out a chair after she served our food, and we began eating together. “So, tell me, where do you think we should go tomorrow? I want to hang out with my sweet boys over the weekend,” “How about the amusement park?” Jack suggested with a bright smile on his face. “That’s for kids,” Jake rolled his eyes, and I almost choked on my food. “What are you? Aren’t you a kid?” I looked at him and rolled my eyes. “Mom, that’s harsh,” Jake pouted, and I chuckled. “Why don’t you suggest a place then?”
“Let’s go to the movies. We could watch cartoons while munching on popcorn. After the movies, we can go to the restaurant, then take a walk along the beach while licking ice cream, and finally to the museum,” I was amazed by how matured my boy is becoming. They are both special and intelligent in their own ways. “How about that, Jack? Do you agree?’ I turned to Jack to hear his opinion because I didn’t want to make him feel like his opinion didn’t matter. “Hove the suggestions, but I still want to go to the amusement park,” He pouted his lips cutely, and I smiled. “This is what we are going to do. We can’t do everything in one day because you need to study and do your homework, so here is how we are going to go about it…” I paused, then drank some water, and continued, “Tomorrow, we are going to the amusement park in the morning by 10am. Two hours there, and we’ll head to the movies after. We’ll go to the restaurant, and be back home by 4pm or 5pm at most. We can do the rest on Sunday,” “Perfect! So, what are we going to wear?” Jake asked excitedly. “I’ll decide on that tonight and first thing tomorrow morning, will let you know,” “You’ll be coming with us, Chloe, “I turned to Chloe, and she quickly nodded. “Alright, ma’am,” We were finally done eating, and I asked them to go up to their room and study after getting some rest. “No, ma’am. I will clear the table,” Chloe quickly sna tched the plate I had just picked up from the dining table. “You must be tired after you made the food. You should get some rest. I will clear the table,” I gently reached for the plate, but she shook her head. “No, ma’am. I can’t…” “I’m not asking you to hand me the plate, Chloe. This is an order from your boss,” I demanded, and she hesitated before she handed the plate to me, “Go to the kid’s room and guide them on their studies,” I patted her shoulder and smiled ather.
10:13 Wed, 12 Jun Chapter 33 “Alright, ma’am. Call me if there’s anything I need to do here,” “I will,” She finally left, and I proceeded to clearing the table. After I was done clearing the table, I did the dishes in order to reduce the stress for Chloe tomorrow morning. I was almost done rinsing the last plate in the sink when I heard the doorbell ring “Who is that at the door by this time of the night?” I glanced at the wall clock and squinted my eyebrows because I wasn’t expecting anyone, and at this odd hour. The doorbell rang for the second time minutes later while I was trying to get rid of the apron I had been wearing. After I took off the apron, I headed to the entrance door. My heart missed a beat when I peeped through the hole and saw that it was Xander. “Why is he here?” I mumbled as I pulled away from the door. Again, the doorbell rang, and I finally opened the door for him. “What do you want?” I closed the door after he walked inside, then turned and faced him with my hands crossed on my chest. “Uhm…. I’m sorry about what happened earlier today. I wouldn’t have allowed Ella to do that to you if I knew she was going to…” “It’s almost 9pm. Is that why you are here by this time of the night or could it be that you didn’t check the time before you came here?” I threw myself on the couch and crossed my legs confidently. “I didn’t want the day to pass by without apologizing to you…” “So you chose to show up at my house at this odd hour of the night?” I stood up and tucked my hair behind my ear. “Who does that?” Deep inside me, a part of me was super excited to see him even though I wasn’t supposed to feel that way. “Uhm… I’m sorry about that. About your dress…” He hold out the shopping bag he had been holding since he walked inside. “It’s a replacement for your dress Ella ruined. I’m really sorry about today,” He apologized yet again while holding out the dress to me.
“I told you that if you have enough money to throw around…” “Buy myself and my daughter some manners and a ‘mind your business and steer clear off your path’ pill. I still remember that,” He smiled at me, revealing his white set of teeth. oney with me after I bought the dress, so you should not worry about being short of money to buy the manner and pill,” “I still have some money I huffed unbelievably. “Still, I don’t…” “I’m sorry, but I can’t take it back. You can trash it if you don’t like it,” He gently dropped it on the centre table and smiled at me. “Have a lovely night’s rest. Good night,” He turned to leave. “I guess you were not sterile after all,” if I knew when those words were about to leave my mouth, I would’ve done everything to hold them back, but I wasn’t just in the right time to He paused. For another fifteen to twenty seconds, he stood there, motionless. I guess he wasn’t expecting the question the same way I wasn’t expecting that from myself. 10:13 Wed, 12 Jun Chapter 33 “We are even now, I think,” I shrugged, trying to hide the fact that I was heartbroken. He finally turned to me with a confused and guilty expression written all over him, “Your daughter is bold and protective. I like that about her,” I couldn’t help but admit it because that was the da mn truth. “Ella is not my biological daughter,” The look on his face when he said that somewhat looked like it was hard for him to admit it. “She is my cousin’s daughter. Her Mom died, and her dad, who is my cousin, left the country to further his education, so I took her in. She only recognises me as her dad since she grew up with me.” My heart lit up in excitement I couldn’t explain, but what mattered at that moment was the fact that
Xander didn’t have a child with another woman. “Good night,” He finally left, and I breathed out as tas a small smile formed on my lips. “I think I’m crazy,” I muttered as I picked up the dress and danced toward the staircase…Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
