KING ELIJAH

CHAPTER 29

I placed the little things I brought with me in the boot of the car, closing it and then turning to mom who stood beside me. It took me right days to finally come to a decision that I wanted to be with Elijah.

“Are you sure about this?” Mom asked and I nodded, offering her a smile. “Yes mom” I answered giving her a hug and inhaling her scent.

Dad was standing at the porch watching the interaction between his family. I sighed when I saw the sad look on his face and decided to go up to him. We haven’t spoken to each other since the study room incident that occurred eight days ago.

He looked surprised that I was coming up to him and composed himself. “Dad,” I said giving him a small smile.

“Look Celeste, I’m sorry for everything” he mumbled looking down. I placed my hand on his shoulder and he looked at me while I offered him a smile.

“I know,” I whispered and he smiled. “But you need to tell mom. She has the right to know what you did” I muttered and his smile turned into a frown.

“I know, i-just- I just need more time” He stammered and I nodded in understanding.

“Okay” I said before giving him a little squeeze on the shoulder and walking towards the car.

Simone started the car and I waved my parents a goodbye one last time.

“I’m sorry for making you drive me to the palace when you have Alpha shits to do” I mumbled to Simone as well drive through the pack grounds. This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .

“It’s no problem sis” Simone said and offered me a smile before focusing on driving.

“Thanks” I sighed then placed my head on the window.

I was nervous about returning to the Palace, thoughts of what ifs’ made it’s way to my head and almost demanding me I make Simone turn the car back but I had to be strong.

After a few hours of driving, the magical wall that was only visible to mythical and magical beings appeared. My heart started beating fast because I knew that in about thirty minutes, I would be seeing Elijah again.

“Relax sis, you’re also making me nervous” Simone chuckled when he saw me rubbing my sweaty palms on my skirt.

“Sorry” I murmured with a nervous chuckle and take in a deep breath.

I would be seeing Elijah again. Even though it has only been two weeks I miss him- I just want to be in his arms once again.

The palace finally came in view and we crossed the bridge and then parked the car.

“Do you need help taking that?” My brother asked and I shook my head. “No thank, I got it” I answered giving him a thumbs up.

As I took the bag out of the boot, a maid, Ruth-approached me, “Malady, please give me your bags. I would take them to you chambers” She mumbled.

She seem happy to see me back in the palace and when I looked around, all the other workers also seem happy.

Okay-what the hell is going on?

Without noticing, she already took the bags from my hand and was already walking to the big wooden door that was opened. I looked at Simone and he shrugged and I did the same.

“You should get going before it gets late, thanks for the ride” I said to Simone and he raised a brow.

“So you won’t tell me to say? Maybe offer me a cup of coffee?” He asked and I could hear the humor and sarcasm in his tone.

“No. Now fuck off” I told him and he laughed, holding his tummy as he did and I couldn’t help but smile.

He pulled me in for a hug, patting my head like I was a child. “Take care of yourself, and my niece took” He mumbled pulling away.

“Will do” I said with a grin and he got into his car.

I waited till his car was no longer in sight- also stalling and when I could no longer see his black car, I sighed then turned around and entered the walls of the palace.

As I walk down the hall, a familiar face of the King’s Curia Regis was also coming my way and I prayed that he ignores me.

“Ah! I see you are back” He lamented and I cussed under my breath.

Goddess, this man was annoying I thought when he stopped in front of me.

Wait-his voice, it sounds familiar. Was it not the same voice I heard in the woods that night? The same man who threatened my father with a secret of his that he knew?

“It was you” I rasped pointing at him. “W-what?” He asked with a frown on his aging face.

“It was you with my father in the woods that night” I said and his eyes widen. I am right! No wonder the voice sounded so familiar.

“I don’t know what you are talking about” He mumbled clearing his throat and composing himself-pretending like he doesn’t know what I’m talking about.

“Don’t play dumb,” I muttered folding my arms across my chest.

“Did Elijah send you to do it?” I asked him narrowing my eyes at him-waiting for him to deny it.

“No, no.. He didn’t. I did it on my own” He sighed and I crunched my brows together. “Why?” I asked and he sighed again.

“I am the Kings adviser. He was going crazy without you in the palace, it was hell here and I had to do something to bring you back”

“By threatening my father?” I asked with a scoff.

“I-” “Did you know what I passed through?” I asked again cutting him off while taking a feet towards him and he took one back.

“Well I had to do something!” He defended, “not like you were going to come back to the palace if I asked nicely.”

Well, he was right. I wouldn’t have come if he did asked but that doesn’t give him the right to do what he did!

“But you should have tried” I hissed before walking past him. I stopped when something came to my mind and turned around to still see him in the same spot.

“Were you the one who killed Natasha?” I asked and he looked up at me. “What-No, why the hell would I do that?” He asked and I believed him, he seems innocent.

“Never mind” I mumbled continuing my walk to Elijah’s room.

When I got to the north wing, I pushed the door to his room open and saw that it was empty. My bags were placed next to the closet and I sat down on the bed waiting for him to arrive.

I did not expect to fall asleep but I did and when I checked the time, I had slept for about fifty minutes. I went into the bathroom and eased myself before deciding to take my bath.

I realized that I did not bring a change of cloth with me to the bathroom and silently cussed for forgetting. I wrapped a white towel around my chest, my wet black hair clinging to the back of my neck.

When I opened the door and got in the room, the other side of the door opened and my eyes widen as I held on to the towel.

An exhausted looking Elijah appeared and when he looked up, his eyes widen.

“Celeste?”
