Chapter 1080: This Is Fate

Lisa took a deep breath and whispered, "He's not just anyone, he's your cousin."

"Are you trying to give me away?" Jo persistently looked at Lisa.

Meeting Jo's gaze, Lisa suddenly felt a tightening in her chest. She had intended to explain, but her

words took an unexpected turn. "Jo, don't you want your dad? Don't you want your family?"

With teary eyes, Jo gazed at Lisa. "But I want you more."

Lisa had words of persuasion on her lips, but they remained unsaid.

After staring at Jo without speaking for a while, Lisa finally came to her senses and led Jo away from This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.

D-king Castle.

After Lisa left, Aunt Alice informed Zane, "Mr. Lawrence, she's gone."

Zane acknowledged with a sound and went into the bedroom.

Upon entering the room, Zane found Yanis awake, propped up on the bed lost in thought.

Hearing his footsteps, Yanis looked at Zane.

Zane sat down by the bedside and asked, "Still feeling uncomfortable?"

Yanis shook her head and softly inquired, "Did someone come to the house just now?"

Realizing that Yanis must have heard something, Zane decided not to hide it. "Lisa came with Jo."

Curious, Yanis asked, "What did she want?"

Zane hadn't told Yanis about Lisa's request before. So, hesitating for a few seconds, he finally

explained, "She wanted Jo to stay with me rather than Uncle Dylan."

Yanis was taken aback by Zane's words. "Why would she want Jo to stay with you instead of Uncle

Dylan?"

Zane explained in a low voice, "If Jo stays with Uncle Dylan, Lisa might have a hard time seeing him in

the future. It could lead to conflicts. But if Jo stays with me, she knows she can see him whenever she

wants. She knows I won't stand in the way."

Just like Lisa had said, out of respect for Lucia, Zane wouldn't prevent the mother and son from seeing

each other.

After listening to Zane, Yanis fell silent for a while before asking, "Did you refuse?"

Zane nodded but didn't elaborate. He changed the subject. "Would you like something to eat?"

Yanis shook her head. "I'm not hungry. I want some water."

Zane acknowledged and got up to get Yanis some water.

"You're not going to the office today?"

Zane placed the glass of water on the side table and replied, "I told Albi I won't be going to the office

today."

Yanis didn't say anything more and simply nodded. "Then stay at home."

Yanis lay on Zane's lap for a while before dozing off again. She slept until noon this time.

When Yanis woke up, she found herself alone in the room. She got up, freshened up a bit, and headed

downstairs.

Downstairs, Yanis didn't spot Zane. She was about to call out when she saw three figures in the

kitchen. She approached the kitchen door.

Standing at the entrance for a while, Yanis finally called out, "Zane."

Upon hearing Yanis's voice, Zane turned around. Seeing her standing there, he walked over. "Awake?

Feeling any discomfort?"

Yanis shook her head and then asked, "What are you guys doing?"

"Mr. Lawrence wanted to make some small snacks for you, so he's learning from us," Aunt Alice

chimed in.

Observing Zane covered in flour, even on his face, Yanis couldn't help but chuckle. She raised her

hand and wiped the flour off his face. "How did you know I wanted snacks?"

Zane replied, "Just guessed."

Initially, Zane had planned to call Olivia to have her make the snacks and deliver them. But he decided

to give it a shot himself. He asked Olivia for the recipe and had Aunt Alice and Aunt Gloria help out.

After Olivia detailed the steps over the phone, Zane and the aunts got to work.

"Is it almost done?" Yanis asked.

Zane responded, "Almost. Why don't you have a seat?"

Yanis acknowledged and turned to the living room.

Zane spent nearly forty-five minutes in the kitchen before emerging.

Yanis was in the living room, video chatting with Bonnie. "Mles caught a cold again? Are you

mistreating him?"

Bonnie complained, "I'd like to, but he doesn't give me a chance."

Seeing Bonnie's tired eyes, Yanis teased, "Are you alone at the hospital?"

Bonnie fell silent for a moment before saying, "Lawyer Phillips is here too."

Upon hearing this, Yanis straightened up. "He's been there the whole time?"

Bonnie responded, "I was driving to the hospital last night and coincidentally bumped into him, as he

was bringing a friend to the hospital."

Yanis laughed. "That's fate."

Bonnie rolled her eyes at Yanis. "You don't look well. Your complexion is off."

Yanis reassured her, "Didn't sleep well last night. Nothing serious."

"With you like that, I hope you didn't do anything too extraordinary last night."

Yanis was momentarily speechless. "What are you thinking?"

Bonnie chuckled. "Mles is fine. Don't worry. He'll be able to go home after the IV drip."

Yanis responded, "Take good care of him, and take care of yourself too."

"I will. You too."

Ending the call, Yanis looked at Zane. "Are you done?"

Zane acknowledged, "Mles is sick?"

Yanis put down her phone. "Just a cold."

Zane suggested, "Maybe you should hire a nanny. She's not cut out for childcare."

Yanis smiled at Zane's comment. "If you say that in front of Bonnie, she'll definitely get mad."

"Can't I speak the truth?"

Yanis replied in a hushed tone, "It's not that Bonnie isn't suitable, it's just that she's been busy lately

and, coupled with some personal matters, she's a bit worn out."

Zane listened to Yanis's explanation without saying much.

Just then, the doorbell rang.

Zane glanced at the door and got up to answer it.

The visitor was Antonio, holding a small box.

"Brother-in-law." Antonio, nervous, greeted Zane.

Zane nodded and looked at the box in his hands. "Looking for your sister?"

Antonio nodded. "Is she home?"

Zane stepped aside, letting Antonio in. "She's inside."

Antonio changed his shoes at the entrance and followed Zane inside, looking somewhat uneasy.

Seeing Antonio enter, Yanis was surprised. "Why are you here?"
