Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Five years had gone by in the blink of an eye.
A large group of fans gathered around the VIP passage of Hallsbay’s international airport. “Angeline! Angeline! We love you!” Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
These fans shrieked while holding up placards printed with Angeline’s name and photos.
As the cheers continued, a tall, slender woman with exquisite makeup emerged. She came out of the VIP passage wearing a cap and a pair of shades. Though she did not utter a word, everyone knew she was the A-list celebrity Angeline Sorelle.
Just a simple wave of her hand sent the crowd into a frenzy.
Angeline had just entered the minivan when her assistant approached and asked, “Where are we going now, Angie?”
Angeline took off her shades, revealing a pair of mesmerizing eyes. She answered with a cold smirk, “Let’s go to the Sorelle residence. I heard it’s the old man’s birthday today.”
“All right!”
The minivan headed north and arrived at the Sorelle residence before lunchtime.
The entrance of the residence was adorned with a red carpet. Many well-wishers, too, arrived to attend the birthday celebration.
Angeline alighted from the car and took a sidelong glance at the familiar building.
She had finally returned to the Sorelle residence after half a decade.
The elegant Angeline charmed the guests with her star-like personality. She instantly became the center of attention when she entered the house.
A number of guests gasped in shock as they recognized her. “Isn’t she Angeline, the second daughter of the Sorelle family?”
Another person echoed, “I thought she was kicked out of the house because of that incident five years ago?”
Of all the guests, only one person gazed steadily at Angeline. The man was tall and had a chiseled face. His expression darkened by a little the moment Angeline stepped into the residence.
Angeline? I can’t believe she’s back.
Angeline heard the murmurs from the crowd but gave them the cold shoulder. Ignoring the man’s gaze, she entered the house and saw a group of people surrounding an elderly man.
She greeted him from afar, saying, “Hello, Grandpa.”
All the guests turned around and looked at her. Wilfred’s face became gloomy when he saw her from a distance, even though he had been beaming from ear to ear just seconds ago.
Angeline walked up to him with a gift.
“What are you doing here, Angeline?” A young woman stopped her from advancing. Despite the gentle look on her face, she balled her fists in anxiety. Evidently, she did not expect Angeline to appear unannounced that day.
She also could not believe Angeline had become an A-lister in merely five years and dared to return to the Sorelle family.
The young woman intentionally added fuel to the fire by saying in an aloof voice, “You’re no longer a part of the Sorelle family, remember? We don’t welcome you here.”
Angeline looked up at her with a scowl.
The young woman was none other than her biological older sister—Joseline Sorelle.
After taking a deep breath to suppress her grievance, Angeline lifted the corners of her lips into a faint smile and responded, “Joseline, I heard you’re engaged. I hope it’s not too late for me to congratulate you.”
She turned her attention to the man standing behind Joseline and gave him a warm, polite smile. It was the same courteous attitude she had shown him when they first met years ago.
Yet, this time, there was an obvious look of disgust in his eyes.
Had the incident five years ago not happened, he would now be holding her hand instead of Joseline’s.
“Angeline! Stop trying to change the subject!” Joseline could not help but panic as she feared that Hanson Yiurk still had feelings for her sister. “You don’t belong here. Please leave right now!”
“I’m a part of the Sorelle family. Why can’t I come back to celebrate Grandpa’s eightieth birthday?”
The sharp glare in Angeline’s eyes caused Joseline to shudder.
“You’ve been kicked out of the Sorelle family!” Joseline steeled herself and insinuated, “Have you forgotten how you brought shame to the family five years ago?”
The smile on Angeline’s face instantly vanished. She responded by giving Joseline a murderous glare. How dare she mention that incident in front of me. Does she still think I’m that helpless girl who didn’t know how to retaliate?
“Of course not. Well, I guess you’re right. I didn’t come to celebrate his birthday. I’m only here to verify some rumors I heard recently.”
