Go Away, I’m a Billionairess Now By Evie Cole Chapter 63 Are You Threatening Me?
At six o’clock in the evening, when it was time to get off, Jimena knocked on the door and came in to remind Samara, “Ms. Novak, the dinner is at six thirty.”
Hearing Jimena’s voice, Samara looked up at her and rubbed her temples slightly. “I got it.”
It would at least take twenty minutes to get to the hotel even without traffic.
Samara turned off the computer. She then picked up her bag and left the office.
Jimena was waiting for her at the door. “Ms. Novak, do you want me to call the driver?”
Samara glanced at Jimena and said, “There’s no need. Let’s get there directly.”
If she really needed to drink at dinner, she could just get a designated driver.
“Alright, Ms. Novak.”
The two of them got to the parking lot on the first floor. Seeing that Jimena followed her over, Samara paused and said, “Drive your own car, Jimena.”
It would be inconvenient if she needed to send Jimena home after drinking.
Jimena was surprised and then walked to her own car.
On the way, Jimena reported to Samara in detail about the representative of the villagers over the phone.
People who would join the dinner tonight included the mayor of Ellisburg, Trent Harper, and the council leader, Luca
Rylance.
According to Jimena’s investigation, Trent took the lead to agree on the compensation for demolition. However, it was also he who tore up the contract first. The mayor was obviously not simple. He knew what he was doing and how to make the best option for his own benefit.
Samara smiled and said, “He is smart.”
She liked to negotiate with smart people.
Jimena, who was on the other end of the line, responded and then introduced Luca’s situation. “Luca seemed to have followed others to sign the demolition compensation contract and then scraped it as well. But in fact, it was Luca who asked Trent to scrape the contract a month ago.”
Samara said, “Well, that’s interesting.”
The red light lit up. Samara roughly understood what was going on as she said, “Great, I see the whole picture now. See you later, Jimena.”
“Sure, Ms. Novak. See you later.”
“See you.”
The traffic was light today. In less than twenty–five minutes, Samara’s car arrived at the entrance of the hotel.
When Samara and Jimena arrived at the door of the private room, there were still two minutes before the appointed
time.
The waiter pushed the door open, and Samara walked inside.
“Mr. Harper, Mr. Rylance, I’m Samara Novak, the manager of Elephant Group. Mr. Silva had an emergency to deal
with, so he sent me over to have a meeting with you on his behalf. I’m sorry for being late. There was a traffic jam
when I came here. I’m sorry.”
Hearing Samara’s words, Trent and Luca had their expressions changed. Trent was somewhat dissatisfied. Luca, on the other hand, did not show any displeasure on his face. Instead, he smiled and led Samara into the seat.
After sitting down, Trent and Luca exchanged a look with each other. Trent’s expression returned to normal. “Don’t be so formal, Ms. Novak. We agreed to meet at six thirty. You are not late at all, Ms. Novak. We arrived too early.”
Samara smiled and said, “Mr. Rylance, Mr. Rylance, you must be hungry. Let’s order first.”
Trent and Luca were about the same age. Both of them were in their late forties. Before Jimena came here, she already knew that they were big on alcohol.
Samara ordered a bottle of Chateau Lafite first. When the wine was served, she toasted, “Mr. Rylance and Mr. Rylance, sorry to keep you waiting. I’ll be drinking up this glass of wine as my apology.”
As she spoke, Samara drank it all in one gulp.
The mellow and fragrant wine slipped through her throat. A few glasses of wine wouldn’t make Samara get
drunk.
The dishes were served quickly. Samara listened to them and barely spoke. When Trent and Luca toasted her, she
would toast them back.
Soon, they almost finished all the dishes and the two bottles of Chateau Lafite. Trent and Luca became anxious since Samara didn’t plan to start the conversation. “Ms. Novak, just tell us. Will your company meet our requirements? If the answer is yes, we could settle the contract right away. After all, it will do no good for your company if we delay it for a long time.”
It sounded more like a threat, but Samara did not buy it at all. She looked at Trent and smiled, “Mr. Harper, I know what you mean, but I have something to show you first.”
As she spoke, Samara tilted her head and glanced at Jimena. Jimena handed over the plan that had been prepared. before they arrived.
Samara glanced at the two of them and said lightly, “Ellisburg is indeed an inner–city garrison. If the villagers refuse to move out, it will be a great obstacle to our land planning. But after several discussions, we found that this problem is solvable. We understand that the villagers didn’t want to leave their homes and move out. We also didn’t want to see this happen as well. So, we made a new plan to avoid damaging Ellisburg. If the villagers insist on staying, we will start
the plan B.”
As soon as Samara finished speaking, Trent and Luca instantly exchanged a look with each other. Trent, who was a little drunk after a few glasses of wine, slammed the table and stood up, “Ms. Novak, are you threatening me?”
