Ella’s eyes flashed with anger as she turned to face Evan “You’ll pay for this, Evan!” she spat, her voice venomous. “You have no right to kidnap me!”
Evan chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement. “Oh, but I do,” he said, his voice dripping with confidence. “I have every right to your body, at least for the next two years. You see, you’re carrying something precious, something that belongs to me.”
–
Ella’s eyes narrowed, her gaze piercing. “I think you’re forgetting that it’s my baby too,” she hissed. Evan’s smile grew wider, his sarcasm palpable. “Oh, I know exactly where your child is in your belly, where I can keep an eye on it. And as for your body… well, that’s mine too, for the next two years at least.” As they argued, Evan’s gaze drifted to her belly, his hand reaching out to touch it. Ella’s eyes blazed with fury, her voice low and deadly. “Don’t touch me, Evan.
Their eyes locked in a fierce stare–down, the tension between them crackling like electricity.
Evan’s hand hovered over her belly, his eyes filled with curiosity. “For a second, I thought your belly was swollen, but it’s just your cheap dress,” he said, his voice dripping with disdain. “You’re still flat.”
As his hand made contact with her skin, Ella’s eyes flashed with anger. She jerked away, her voice low and deadly. “Don’t touch me!”
Their eyes met, and for a moment, they stared into each other’s souls. The feeling was familiar, like they were transported back to 5 years earlier. Ella’s eyes were still the same deep brown, while Evan’s piercing blue eyes seemed to drown her in their intensity. The attraction between them was palpable, but Ella pulled away, her determination evident.
“You’re still the same,” Evan mumbled, his voice filled with a mix of wonder and frustration.
“Of course I’m still the same,” Ella spat, her voice venomous. “I still hate you, and I’ll never fall for your words again.”
Evan’s eyes never left hers, his gaze burning with intensity. “I don’t care if you like me or hate me, Ella. But you will stay here with me, where you belong.”
Ella’s heart raced with fear, but she pretended to be confident, her voice steady. “I won’t stay with you, Evan. I won’t be a prisoner in your mansion. Don’t force me to call the authorities. I don’t want to create a
scene.
Evan exhaled sharply, knowing that Ella was equally adamant. This was the thing about them – even in college, they were equally compatible, but also equally stubborn. Their egos and self–respect always got in the way, refusing to back down. The air was thick with tension, their eyes locked in a silent standoff. As the car turned into the grand premises, Ella’s eyes widened with a mix of nostalgia and unease. The familiar sight of the mansion and its sprawling gardens brought back memories of happier times, when she would often visit and spend time with Evan’s parents. They had been like a second family to her, and she had cherished those moments.
But now, as she gazed out at the lush gardens and fountains, her heart felt heavy with sorrow. She had wanted to reach out to Evan after his parents‘ passing, but didn’t know how he would receive her condolences. And now, it seemed like a sensitive topic that he didn’t want to discuss.
The car came to a stop in front of the mansion, and Evan stepped out, walking around to her side of the door. His eyes avoided hers, and his expression was stoic, revealing nothing of his emotions. The staff stood by, their faces expressionless, as if trained to maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Evan opened the door and offered her his hand, his gesture polite but distant. “Let’s go inside, Ella,” he said, his voice low and neutral.
Evan refused to step out of the car, his eyes fixed on hers with a firm determination. “You have to stay here, Ella. It’s final. Don’t create a scene in front of the staff members. They all know you.”

Ella rolled her eyes and scoffed, “As if I care,” She pushed his hand away and stepped out of the car, her long legs stumbling on her own feet. She swayed sideways, about to fall, but Evan’s quick reflexes caught her, his grip tightening around her waist.
Their bodies collided, their eyes locking in a intense stare. Ella’s hands planted on his shoulders, her breathing rapid. Evan’s concern was palpable as he asked, “Are you alright?”
Ella quickly composed herself, pushing away from his body. She stood straight, adjusting her dress, her eyes flicking down to the fabric. She had specially designed it for her modeling shoot, and now she wondered if it made her look fat. The thought vanished as she glared at Evan, her defiance evident. “I’m fine.”
Evan’s eyes narrowed, his voice firm. “Come inside, Ella.”
But Ella ignored his outstretched hand, climbing the stairs and entering the mansion on her own. Her eyes widened in wonder, realizing that nothing had changed. The interior was still opulent, with crystal chandeliers and velvet drapes. They passed through a grand hallway lined with priceless artwork, into a spacious living room where a fire crackled in the hearth, casting a warm glow.
“Please, sit, Evan pointed to a massive couch, and Ella sat down, waiting for the staff to leave them alone. Evan ordered, “Prepare a nice meal for Miss Ella, something suitable for a pregnant woman. Consult the head chef and dietician.”
elloticed a change in Evan’s demeanor, his tone now authoritative and commanding, a far cry from the charming and caring person she once knew. “Why are you talking to Martha like that?” she asked, her voice laced with disapproval.
“She’s your help, not your slave!” Ella lashed out, her voice stern.
Evan turned to her, his eyes flashing with anger. “Are you going to tell me how to treat my staff? You just keep going.”
But as he looked at Ella, his expression softened. He realized that his anger had intensified over the years. The food arrived, and they sat in the grand dining room, Ella’s eyes fixed on the plate in front of her. Evan sat across from her, his gaze gentle. “Ella, why aren’t you eating? Do you want something else?” Ella’s eyes blazed with anger. I don’t want to eat anything. I want to go back home.”
Evan’s expression remained calm. “We will discuss this thoroughly, but first, you need to eat something. Knowing you, I know you must not have eaten properly since morning. If not for me, at least keep up your strength for the baby.”
His eyes were filled with a gentle expression, and for a moment, Ella saw the Evan she once knew. Ella’s eyes narrowed, but she couldn’t deny the concern in Evan’s voice. She began to eat, feeling a bit nervous under his gaze. The vegetable pancake was surprisingly delicious and healthy, and the fresh juice was a perfect complement. The sugar–free pancakes were loaded with mango toppings, and she couldn’t help but enjoy the taste.
As she ate, the tension in the room was palpable. Evan waited patiently, his eyes fixed on her, and with
bite she took, he seemed to relax a little more. There was a subtle spark of attraction between them, unacknowledged but undeniable.

Ella felt his gaze on her, and her heart fluttered. As she finished eating, Evan smiled slightly. “Thank you for eating. I know you’re not happy with the circumstances, but I promise to make it easier for you.”
Just then, Teresa, the maid, entered the room, holding a small white bottle in her hand. “Sir, I brought the prenatal vitamins you requested,” she said, her eyes fixed on Ella’s belly.
Teresa explained, “The doctor says you need to take this fluid instantly. It contains folic acid, calcium, and all the essential nutrients for the early stages of pregnancy.
Ella frowned, looking at Evan warily. I’m not taking this now.”
Evan stood up, his expression gentle, and walked closer to her. “Please, do it.” He held out the glass, his hand brushing against hers. “Just take a sip, it’s flavored with vanilla, your favorite.”

this in years, not since his parents were alive. She watched as Ella took the glass from him, a small smile on her face. “This is delicious, I can have it by myself,” Ella said, taking a sip.
Evan nodded, his eyes fixed on Ella’s lips. He spotted a small white droplet of liquid at the corner of her mouth and instinctively wiped it away with his thumb, his fingers touching her lips.
A spark of electricity ran through her body, and Evan felt a surge of nervousness, quickly standing up and moving away from her, sitting in the chair opposite.
The awkwardness in the room was palpable, and Teresa couldn’t help but walk away, trying to stifle a laugh. She hurried to the kitchen, excitement in her voice.
“Ella’s back! I’m sure boss will recover now. I always knew she would be back in his life. Now wait and see how things change!” she exclaimed, her words echoing through the hallway as the staff looked on, intrigued.
