Falling for my Ex-Fiancee’s Best friend

Please, pick

Demelza anxiously paced back and forth in the living room back at home, clutching her phone tightly in her hand.

She had been calling Nathan repeatedly, but he wasn’t picking up.

Her mind raced with worry and fear as she desperately wanted to know the update from him. Nathan had taken Silver to the hospital to confirm her pregnancy, and Demelza couldn’t shake off the nagging thought that he might leave her for Silver if she turned out to be pregnant.Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

She dialed Nathan’s number once again, her heart pounding in her chest. The phone rang and rang, but there was no answer. Demelza’s anxiety grew with each passing second.

What if something had happened to him? What if he had decided to be with Silver instead? These thoughts consumed her, and she couldn’t bear the uncertainty any longer.

Taking a deep breath, Demelza decided to leave a voice message. She tried her best to hide her nervousness and anxiety, wanting to sound calm and collected. Pressing the record button, she spoke into the phone, her voice slightly trembling.

“Hey, Nathan. It’s me, Demelza. I’ve been trying to reach you, but you’re not picking up. I hope everything is okay. I just wanted to know how things went at the hospital with Silver. I’m sure it’s nothing, but I can’t help but worry. Could you please call me back when you get this message? I’d really appreciate it. Take care.”

She ended the message, her hand shaking slightly as she pressed the send button.

Demelza couldn’t help but feel a knot of fear in her stomach. She desperately hoped that Nathan was alright and that her fears were unfounded. All she could do now was wait for his call, hoping that he would reassure her and put her fears to rest.

The cab driver was driving through the city streets when he heard a sudden ring, causing him to jump in his seat.

His eyes darted to his own phone, only to realize it wasn’t the source of the sound. Curiosity piqued, he pulled over to the side of the road and rummaged through the clutter in the front seat, searching for the unfamiliar phone.

Finally, his hand closed around the device, and he pulled it out, examining it with a furrowed brow. It was sleek and modern, a stark contrast to the worn-out interior of his cab. His mind raced as he tried to recall his last passenger, and it struck him that he had dropped someone off at the hospital just moments ago.

Determined to return the phone to its rightful owner, he made a U-turn and headed back towards the hospital. The phone continued to ring incessantly, but he resisted the urge to answer, knowing it would be best to hand it over in person.

As he arrived at the hospital, he walked towards the nurse stand when he spotted a disheveled man named standing near the emergency, he recognized him from earlier.

Nathan’s clothes were stained, and worry etched across his face. The cab driver approached him, holding up the phone.

“Excuse me, sir,” he called out, catching Nathan’s attention. “Is this your phone?”

Nathan’s eyes widened as he fumbled for his pocket, only to realize his phone was missing. “Oh my god, yes! That’s mine!” he exclaimed, relief flooding his voice.

Handing the phone over, the man smiled warmly. “I found it in the backseat of my cab. I thought it might be yours.”

Nathan’s gratitude was evident as he thanked the man profusely. He quickly glanced at the screen and saw a dozen of missed calls from Demelza, along with a voicemail. Concern crept into his voice as he listened to the message.

“Hey, Nathan, it’s Demelza. I’ve been trying to reach you. Please call me back as soon as you can. I’m really worried about you.”

Nathan’s face paled, realizing the gravity of the situation. He quickly dialed Demelza’s number, his hands trembling slightly as he brought the phone to his ear but she was not picking up.

Meanwhile, the cab driver watched the scene unfold, a sense of satisfaction washing over him.

He had played a small part in reuniting Nathan with his phone and potentially easing Demelza’s worries.

With a contented sigh, he returned to his cab, ready to continue his journey through the bustling city streets.

As the emergency room doors swung open, the doctor emerged, his face etched with a mix of exhaustion and relief.

Nathan, who had been anxiously pacing the hospital corridor, immediately rushed towards the doctor.

“I have good news,” the doctor said, his voice filled with a hint of triumph. “She is finally stabilized and out of danger. We managed to stabilize her condition just in time.”

A wave of relief washed over Nathan, and he let out a sigh of gratitude. “Thank you, doctor. Thank you so much. Can I see her now?”

“Certainly, she’s resting in the recovery room. Just remember, she needs plenty of rest and care,” the doctor advised.

Nathan nodded, his mind already racing with plans to ensure Silver’s recovery. “I’ll be right back,” he said, as he left the hospital and hailed a passing cab and quickly made his way home.

Upon arriving at their small apartment, Nathan found Demelza waiting anxiously by the door. Her eyes were red and puffy, a clear sign that she had been crying. As soon as she saw him, she rushed forward, her voice filled with a mix of relief and frustration.

“Nathan, where have you been? I’ve been so worried! You can’t just leave me like that!” she exclaimed, her words tumbling out in a rush.

Nathan tried to calm her down, placing his hands on her shoulders. “Demelza, please, just listen to me. Silver was in the emergency room. She was in critical condition, but she’s stable now. I had to be there for her.”

Demelza’s eyes narrowed, her frustration evident. “Always Silver, you’re putting her before me. I can’t believe you would leave me like that, Nathan. I thought we were in this together.”

Nathan’s frustration began to rise, his voice tinged with exasperation. “Demelza, you know how Silver is to me. She is pregnant and she needs me. I can’t just abandon her.”

Demelza shook her head, her anger boiling over. “I can’t believe you’re choosing her over me. I can’t do this!” With that, she stormed out of the house, leaving Nathan standing there, feeling a mix of frustration and sadness.

He sank onto the couch, his head in his hands, wondering how to bridge the gap between his love for and his relationship with Demelza.

Nathan stood up from the couch, his heart pounding in his chest as he watched Demelza storm out of the room, anger radiating from her every step.

Without a second thought, he ran after her, desperate to catch up and make things right.

“Demelza, wait!” he called out, his voice filled with urgency. “Please, let’s talk about this!”

She turned around, her eyes blazing with fury. “No, Nathan! I can’t deal with this right now. Just leave me alone!”

Nathan’s brows furrowed, his concern evident. “But we can’t just ignore what happened. We need to talk it out, and find a solution.”

Demelza shook her head, her voice laced with frustration. “I can’t do this anymore, Nathan. I can’t keep pretending everything is fine when it’s not. I need some time alone to think.”

He reached out to touch her arm, his voice pleading. “Please, Demelza, don’t shut me out. We can work through this together.”

She pulled away, her eyes filled with tears. “I need space, Nathan. I need to figure out what I want, what’s best for both of us. Just give me that, please.”

Nathan sighed, defeated. “Alright, I’ll give you the space you need. But promise me you’ll come back, that we’ll talk about this when you’re ready.”

Demelza nodded, her voice softening. “I promise, Nathan. I just need some time to blow off some steam, clear my head.”

As she stormed off, Nathan watched her retreating figure, a mix of worry and sadness in his eyes. He knew he had to respect her wishes, even if it tore him apart inside.

Back at home, Nathan found himself deep in thought, the weight of the situation pressing down on him. He needed to clear his mind, to wash away the hospital stench and the lingering scent of Silver’s blood. With a determined sigh, he decided to take a shower.

The water cascaded over him, washing away the physical remnants of the day’s events.

As the steam filled the bathroom, Nathan closed his eyes, allowing the warmth to soothe his troubled mind. He let the water wash away his worries, if only for a moment, as he tried to find some semblance of peace amidst the chaos.

In the solitude of the shower, Nathan couldn’t help but replay the argument with Demelza over and over in his mind. He wondered if he had said the right things, if he had pushed her further away instead of bringing her closer. Doubt gnawed at him, but he knew he had to trust in their love, in their ability to overcome any obstacle.

As he stepped out of the shower, feeling refreshed and renewed, Nathan made a silent vow to himself. He would give Demelza the space she needed, but he would also fight for their relationship. He would do whatever it took to mend the cracks that had formed between them, to rebuild the trust and love they once shared.

With a newfound determination, Nathan wrapped a towel around his waist and walked back into the world, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
