Chapter 56 Only Chance
Chapter 56 Only Chance
The scarred man was also flung into the door due to the momentum. He reached out and hit the driver.
Meanwhile, Mia had loosened the ropes of Luz's hands as well. This was their final chance.
"Stop the car!"
When the van was about to pass through the exit, it was stopped by the armed police who were Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
guarding by the side of the road.
Luz's heart sped up, but before she could do anything, she and Mia was pulled into the arms of the two
men sitting between them.
"Be good and don't move, or you'll be in trouble." As he spoke, his mouth, which stank of cigarette
smoke, pressed down against hers.
Luz's mind went blank for a moment, and her stomach churned. She almost threw up the snacks and
drinks she had at the KTV.
"What's the matter, sir?"
The man with the scar calmly rolled down the window and tried to put on a normal smile. Just below the
window, he held a small black pistol, ready to shoot.
"Just a normal check. Open the doors."
After saying that, the policeman came over and put his hand on the door, signalling him to get out of
the car so that they could check the van.
"What do we do, boss?" The driver lowered his voice. He was visibly nervous and scared.
"Grab your weapons and fight!" The scarred man snapped. Gunshots were fired immediately.
The disgusting smell right in front of Luz's nose finally disappeared. Instinctively, she grabbed Mia's
hand and said, "Run, now!"
Even though gun safety was not good in the US, it was still the first time she had heard gunshots in
person. Her face was pale from fear, especially after she saw the policeman who had stopped the car
just now lying on the ground, a bloody hole in his arm still spouting blood.
"They have guns. Requesting for support!"
The sudden gunfight plunged the entire tollbooth into chaos. Every policeman stationed there took out
their guns with a nervous expression.
This was not a drill. They could get shot anytime.
"Drive straight through."
The scarred man shot down the policeman who had stopped them and immediately ordered his men.
Luz was just about to open the door to escape when the van lurched forward, throwing her back into
the backseat. Her back hit against something hard, and she frowned from the pain. Once the van gets
through the toll, they were done for.
The police on duty also realized their intention and immediately started placing down spikes on the
ground. The spikes pierced through the tyres and the van stopped, black smoke emitting from the
engine.
"Boss, we've had a puncture."
"Get out of the car and fight! The boss's men are nearby. He will definitely come to help us." The man
with the scar kicked the door open and rushed out with a gun in his hand.
The sound of shooting rang in her ears. Mia pulled her up and asked, "Are you okay?"
"My waist hurts. Mia, are we going to die here?"
Luz glanced at the drug dealers who had gotten out of the van in a panic. It was a lie to say that she
was not afraid. If they got out of the car now, they would probably be shot.
"Don't talk nonsense. Someone will definitely save us."
Mia was also scared to death in her heart, but she forced herself to calm down. God, she had never
been in a relationship. It would be such a shame to die like this.
The man, who had almost made her sick, was shot in the chest and fell to the ground with blood. Luz
swallowed hard and somehow had the courage to bend down and take his pistol.
"Mia, do you still remember that I wanted to be an actor when I was in high school?"
As she spoke, her lips trembled against each other. Her hands were the same. This was the first time
she had encountered drug deals, been kidnapped, was involved in a gunfight and held a gun.
Mia didn't know if she should give her a thumbs-up now. She quickly lowered her head and tried to find
something that she could use for self-defence. Finally, she found a dagger under the seat. The two
women looked at each other with pale faces. Today might be the most terrifying day of their lives.
After several gunshots, the man with the scar looked more anxious. Two of his three men had fallen to
the ground. If it went on like this, none of them would be able to escape.
"What are you waiting for? Get those two women!"
The man also reacted in an instant and reached out to grab Luz.
Almost subconsciously, she pulled the trigger of the pistol. With a bang, the man's arm was bleeding.
She wasn't doing much better either. The recoil almost pushed her to the ground and sprained her
already painful waist further. She doubled over in pain.
"B*tch, how dare you shoot me!"
The man covered his bleeding arm and kicked her.
"Luz!"
Mia wanted to help, but the scarred man held a gun to her temple.
"I really underestimated you two!"
Not only did they manage to untie the ropes on their body, but they had also gotten their hands on a
gun and a dagger. He pressed the gun to Mia's temple and shouted at the surrounding police, "We
have hostages! If you shoot us, we'll kill them!"
"Let the hostages go."
When the lead policeman saw that they had hostages, he hesitated. They had been following these
drug dealers for a long time now, investigating them and following trails. They were planning to take in
the entire syndicate in this capture, but unfortunately, the drug dealers had managed to get ahold of
hostages. And their hostages were not regular citizens either.
"Do you really think we are fools? If we let these two women go, we won't even have a chance to
survive. Now, evacuate all the police and let us go, or I will immediately kill them."
The scarred man and his accomplice grabbed Luz and Mia and threatened them. The leading
policeman could only reluctantly signal his men to retreat.
"I'd advise you to release the hostages. As long as you cooperate with the investigations, you may be
able to get pardoned!"
"Nonsense. I really hate you pretentious police!"
The man with the scar spat on the ground, but he glanced at the car not far away. The nervousness in
his eyes turned into a proud evil smirk. "As long as you let us leave here safely, I will let them go!"
The arrogance in his tone showed that he clearly thought of his hostages as a get-out-of-jail-free card.
"Okay, we'll let you leave, but you must let the hostage go!"
The leading policeman thought for a moment. They had more police standing guard nearby. Once the
hostages were safe, they can capture the drug dealers without further hindrance.
"Don't worry, as long as we leave safely, we will let them go."
After the man with the scar finished speaking, he pushed them to the car nearby.
Luz and Mia were women, and they were both injured, so they couldn't resist at all. They could only let
themselves be pushed into the car parked by the roadside.
