Ecstacy of the Heart

Chapter 10 Thank You

Chapter 10 Thank You

Alexander had long slender legs which enabled him to take long strides while walking. Allison had to

jog just to catch up with him.

The two of them entered a restaurant serving homemade food and the employees there seemed to

recognize Alexander. At the sight of him, they immediately led him deep into the restaurant.

After settling down in a private suite, there were waiters on standby to serve them. Foods were served

one after another very quickly, as if everything was pre-planned. They could almost start eating the

moment they arrived. NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.

Allison once again marveled at how great Alexander was.

The suite was enveloped in silence. Alexander seemed like he had urgent matters at work to attend to

as he was seen studying the tablet PC given to him by Bernard.

The suite was beyond spacious and there were way too many dishes on the table. With only the two of

them savoring the food, it seemed like a waste.

However, when she thought about Alexander’s status, this type of grandeur was probably his norm.

Allison lifted the tea cup in front of her and took a sip. She then raised her head and thanked

Alexander, “I want to thank you about that ordeal just now.”

Her voice was very tiny as if she was afraid her sudden words would disturb him.

Alexander seemed not to hear her as he continued with his job.

Allison stopped talking at this point although her gratitude was genuine.

The truth was that although she tried to muster some courage to face Anna and put on a strong stance,

deep down she was actually frightened.

Not only she was afraid that Anna and Julius would combine their strength and beat her up, she was

even more afraid of her past coming back to haunt her.

Two years ago, what had happened was exactly a replica of today’s fiasco. The two of them had

humiliated her in the same way.

The one guy who she thought would love her enough was siding with another woman as they joined

hands to throw nasty words at her.

They had described the days she had spent with Julius as those of suffering and misery.

At such thoughts, Allison was suddenly overcome with emotions as her eyes began to sting and her

nose invariably became reddened.

Her innocent expectations towards love were completely destroyed by Julius and Anna just like that.

At this point, Allison was completely immersed in her emotions. She didn’t notice that Alexander was

already staring at her.

After a few seconds of scrutiny, Alexander called out lightly with furrowed brows, “Allison.”

That cold and crisp voice of his penetrated her eardrums and it made her shudder, effectively snapping

her out of her reverie. She snapped her head upwards and met Alexander’s indifferent gaze.

Only then did Allison realize that she had been acting inappropriately. She wiped away her tears as she

apologized, “I’m sorry, I…” She didn’t mean for this to happen.

“Remember, you are my wife. You don’t need to apologize to anyone.”

Before Allison could finish her sentence, Alexander interrupted her, “You also don’t need to be afraid of

anyone.”

Alexander’s expression was as cold as ever, and his tone was infused with a mild anger for some

reason.

Allison was slightly taken aback with how he was talking to her. She could only press her lips into a line

and nodded mechanically.

She was wondering whether she had embarrassed him in some way of other.

It was indeed a shameful thing to do to involve in a shouting match with Anna.

“I…” I learnt my lesson.

After a brief silence, Allison began to think of some words of apology, but the moment she locked gaze

with Alexander, she found herself unable to utter any words. She could only sit there obediently with

her back straightened like a student who had committed some mistake and was waiting for a

reprimand.

At the sight of her, Alexander gradually eased the tension on his face, and his tone also became soft.

“Let’s eat.”

After their meal, Alexander headed straight back to his company, and Allison no longer had any mood

to do any kind of shopping after what had transpired.

Bernard then sent her back home.

While on the way, Bernard sensed that Allison was upset about something, so he decided to try to

comfort her.

“Missus, if something similar happen again, do not hesitate to call me. I will be there as fast as I can.”

“I never expect something like that to happen at all. It seems that I have incurred his wrath. What do

you think? Do you think that I have embarrassed him?”

Allison could recall vividly how angry Alexander had appeared to be when they were having the meal.

After all, hitting someone in public wasn’t a behavior someone of culture would exactly do.

Bernard at first didn’t understand what Allison was talking about, but after a second he replied with

revelation, “Missus, how could Mr. Parker be angry with you? At most, he would be angry with me.”

“What do you mean?”

“Missus, you shall not be fooled by his cool exterior. He is secretly protecting you in the dark. He has

sent someone to buy off the Aniston Corporation as we speak now.”

When Allison heard this, she recalled the conversation between him and Anna.

She thought he was just spouting some words for effect. She didn’t expect that he would really do it.

Her mood suddenly brightened up.

Bernard continued with his rage rising steadily, “Missus, Mr. Parker is angry because he is afraid of you

getting the short end of the stick. He is an extremely protective person.”

“Really?” Allison couldn’t fully believe what she had just heard, but her mood was considerably better.

She had affirmed that Alexander was only cold on the outside.

Seeing that Allison finally broke into grin, Bernard’s heart started to race nervously at the prospect of

revealing too much about Mr. Parker. He wasn’t sure how Mr. Parker would react if he had known about

this.

In the end, if his words could help with Mr. Parker’s well-being and his newly-wed life, he would accept

any kind of punishment for his words.
