CHAPTER 40- I WANT TO BE YOUR MAN
CHAPTER 40- I WANT TO BE YOUR MAN
"You are more irrational than the irrational number itself.", Ryan complained. No matter how much he
refused his friend still explained, "You fancy her, bro. You are gonna make her yours. You are not doing
anything wrong... Be a man, Ryan. A MAN!" The boy made sure he stressed the last two words to
influence his mind.
Ryan grunted, his friend did have a point. He was sure he will make her his one day, there was nothing
wrong in... Personalising her for himself, right. A little body contact won't kill anybody! He massaged his
temples and said that he will look into it before hanging up. When he went back to the room the girl was
decorating the bed for them; she cleared all her stuffed toys to make space for him. The boy looked at
her arrangements and asked, "Umm... What are you doing, Cathey?"
"I am making the bed for us to sleep!" The girl straightened the irregular blankets and sat down before
continuing quizzically, "Why do you call me Cathey, Ryan?" The boy pinched her cheeks lightly, her
skin was as smooth as butter and seemed to be melting in his hands. He explained, "It's short for
Catherine, as a nickname. It is given to people we like..." The girl beamed, "You like me, Ryan?" He sat
down on the bed next to her and slowly said, "More than you can ever imagine."
"Hihi... I like you too, Ryan." Catherine made a little heart with her petite hands and smiled. Ryan's
heart welled up with warmth, he touched her chin and lifted her head a bit, saying softly, "Grow up
quickly, ok?" Before the girl could say anything the boy blinked and turned away; picking up her
storybook he waved at her, "Let's sleep, ok?"
"The beast turned back into a prince; Belle married the prince she loved and they lived happily ever
after..." Ryan dragged the story to the end in his soothing voice and turned around to watch her
sleeping. In the moonlight, she looked peaceful and angelic, out of any worries or regrets.
The boy turned around, Jack's words were still ringing in his head. She was asleep and she won't
know, it was a good opportunity for him to express his love secretly to her. The boy's lips curled up into
a smile; he slowly leaned forward towards her. His heart raced when he was inching closer to her but
he stopped midway. He smiled at her sleepy innocent face and sincerely pulled up her blankets. Ryan's
eyes were soft and pure when he corrected her hairs; in a voice that was barely audible, he started, "I
don't want to be either of the men; I just want to be your man..."
He took the stuffed toys and arranged them accordingly around her, secured two pillows lest she falls
down the bed. He took a last glance at her and murmured, "Good night, sweetheart." He took a pillow Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
and blanket for himself before making an accommodation for himself on the floor.
The boy had a hard time sleeping on the floor as he wasn't used to it, he laid there with a blanket
draped with his eyes fixated on the girl's sleeping face. He himself didn't know when he fell asleep but
when he woke up it was around two of the morning and Catherine was moving strangely on the bed.
Sweat beads covered her forehead and her breathing were escalated; Ryan yanked away his blanket
dashing towards her.
"Mom... Don't go... Please..." She mumbled in her slumber; Ryan could guess what she was dreaming
about by her panting mumbles. He patted her to consciousness, "Cathey, wake up... It's alright."
The girl woke up startled and stared at him with her teary eyes before jumping into his arms, shivering.
It turned out she saw her mom throwing her away and walking while she begged her to stop and not
leave her.
"Do you always see such nightmares?" He asked; she silently hugged her Fiona and nuzzled it close to
herself. What... Could she say about it?
Ryan poured her a glass of water before comforting her and putting her to sleep; to feel safe he sat
next to her and let her rest her head on his lap. He caresses her hairs, deep in thought.
He was worried about her; he didn't want to struggle with all these alone. He wanted to be there for her
but... He was very sure his parents won't let him stay with her. He wanted to be close to her no matter
where he was and like her man, be there when she was scared or hurt or needed him.
He took out his phone and called Jack, once he attended the call he hung up. Knowing the bro code,
he immediately came online.
"Bro, did you do it?" Was the first thing he sent. Ryan replied, "No, I will wait for her to be mine." Jack
sighed, "You won't change, man. It's a shame to be your friend."
"Cut the crap." Ryan texted before saying, "I am wondering something. Assist me."
Jack: Sure, what is it?
Ryan explained to her what she was going through and put forward his will to be with her. Jack typed, "I
understand but your dad won't let you." "I know." Ryan said before continuing, "I want to find a way...
So that I can be home yet keep her company."
Jack bubbled before his reply popped out, "That's impossible for mankind like you and me." Ryan got
impatient, "You are useless!"
"What you are asking is impossible, buddy."
"Yeah, I don't care. I will give you thirty minutes. I don't know what you do but sort out a way." Ryan
sent him before going offline.
"Dude, what the..." Jack jumped on his bed; he knew the family legacy that after Ryan successes the
business after his father he would replace his own dad being his right-hand man. He was raised to be
the second in command and that was why he was best friends with him from a young age. He had to
do what his to be Boss had to say, that was his job.
He yanked away his blanket, cursing Ryan under his breath million times he ran up to Google to find a
way out of his work.
