Chapter 15
SYDNEY’S POV***
“I went there for a party so I decided to grab few drinks and I mistook you for someone else” I lied partially, trying not to maintain eye contact with him as he stared at me, as if trying to read my mind.
“Did he believe me?” I asked myself.
“Make me coffee” he ordered and squinted my gaze at him. “That’s Dana’s duty, why me?”I asked myself but reluctantly stood up and headed out of his office.
I noticed Dana staring at me awkwardly on my way out and I just walked away without sparing her a glance.
I didn’t know his preference, so I made the coffee warm and returned to his office in fifteen minutes time as Dana gave me a questioning look, seeing me with the cup and saucer I just walked past her, ignoring the look.
If I were in her shoes I’ll feel the same way though because it seems like I’m trying to do her job, unknown to her the devil himself gave me the order.
I reached the door to his office and opened it subconsciously without knocking only to notice someone else inside, lady precisely.
So unusual, because the Paxton I know, doesn’t interact with ladies that much.
I walked towards them and I noticed the glare she gave me like we were enemies as I walked closer to Paxton who sat like a statue as I dropped his coffee before him and walked away, still feeling the deadly glare from the lady.
I ignored her looks because I’ve gotten all sorts of looks when I was a stripper, so hers couldn’t have a slight effect on me.
“Since when?” Dana asked the moment I reached her office.
“I don’t understand” I replied curtly.
“Since when did making the boss’s coffee bocome a part of your duty?” She asked and I smiled, realizing the direction her thoughts headed.
“Darling Dana, I have no interest in your duties, Paxton ordered me to make his coffee so I couldn’t decline” I replied.
“The audacity, calling him by his name” she retorted.
“Oh! My bad” I stated before walking away.
I stepped out of the office and noticed the asshole (Jaxton) walking in that direction and I hastened my steps towards my office.
I was happy for successfully avoiding Jaxton since the awkward incident because I didn’t want to have an encounter with him, not today.
After thirty minutes, it clocked my closing time and j picked my bag and made my way out of the office of the office and the moment I reached the compound, he stood before me and I wondered if he had been stalking me.
I felt nervous all of a sudden, after running away from him all day, here he was standing before me.
AUTHOR’S POV***
Nervousness engulfed Sydney as she halted in her tracks, staring at the floor. He walked up to her staring at her as he sensed her nervousness.
He brushed the strands of hair covering her face behind her ear as he gazed at her fixing his arms in his pockets and giving off his playboy smile.
Sydney tried walking away but he obstructed her path.
“Why are you obstructing my path?” She asked, trying to keep her voice low remembering he was her boss.
He kept smiling like a jackass, licking his lips at her and she made an attempt to walk away again but he still wouldn’t let her.
“What do you want?” She asked irritatedly.
“I want to lick those milky thighs” he flirted with her as usual, staring at the slit and opening of her skirt shamelessly as she made an attempt to cover it with her bag.
“Open it for me baby” he cooed and Sydney glared daggers at him.
He made an attempt to rub her thighs and Sydney flared up.
“Get your bloody hands of me you fucking womanizer!!!!” She fired at him before pushing him away and walking off.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
“Wait, I’ll drop you off baby” he ofdered, still flirting and Sydney hastened her steps towards the company’s exit.
Jaxton hurried towards his car and stepped on the gas parked before her again.
“Just step in” he cooed but she wasn’t gonna give in.
“I’d rather board a taxi,” she said stubbornly, alighting a taxi.
He stepped down from the car hurriedly and held her waist as she tried wiggling out of his grip.
“She’s my girlfriend, she’ll use my car”he said to the the middle aged taxi driver who made an “oh!” Sound before driving away.
“What was that for!!?” She asked him angrily.
“Hop into the car or you Know what’s gonna happen, Paxton is still in the office” he said with a devilish smirk and she reluctantly stepped into the car.
Jaxton stepped into the car, Happy that his plan and threat worked out. He stepped on the gas and drove off. He reached a point and had to ask her the route to her house.
She remained silent as she stared out of the window. He asked till he got frustrated and had to halt the car’s movement.
“Fucking tell me the route to take or we’re going round about this city” he threatened as he stepped on the gas and kept driving.
She didn’t want to waste much time as she was already drained from the day’s work so she had no option but to tell him the route to take and he smiled again for successfully making her adhere to his request.
They reached her apartment and he was surprised at how little it was, starring at it from the outside. She hopped down and uttered a “thank you” and he was surprised.
“Don’t mention baby” he flirted before waving her goodbye.
She walked happily into her apartment as she stared at his car which was already in notion.
She noticed she was developing a bit if fondness for Jaxton undermining the incident she witnessed at the office.
Weeks went by and the month came to an end as Sydney received her first pay and was joyous because it was a good pay, compared to her peanut earnings as a stripper.
The next month began and Sydney’s previous salary motivated her to work harder the next month as she did her work diligently.
Paxton declared that she should make his coffee henceforth and Dana was unhappy about it but had no choice. Sydney who didn’t want the job, saw it as an additional workload but couldn’t decline an order from her boss.
On a fateful morning, Sydney made his coffee as usual and placed the saucer on his desk while he was working before heading out of his office, ignoring the deadly stare from Dana.
She returned to her office to continue her work.
She did her work diligently and wholeheartedly. Three hours later, she received a call from Paxton’s office and she hurried there immediately.
From the tone of his voice, it seemed she was in trouble.
She reached his office and hurried in without Dana’s consent as she reached the front of his desk and stood.
“Sir, you calle…..” her statement was cut short as he lifted the glass of cold coffee and spilled it on her
Sydney was surprised and confused.
“Sir what have I done to deserve this?” She asked.
“How dare you serve me cold coffee!!!” He yelled, slamming the cup against his desk as it shattered into countless shards
“I served the coffee hot sir, it went cold while you were….”
“Get out and make another!!!” He barked at her as she ran out of his office like a frightened bunny.
She stepped out and hurried to make him another coffee, this time around, making sure of using boiled water. She wondered why he acted that way just because of his own mistake because she remembered vividly, making the coffee with hot water. It obviously went cold while he was working.
She was angry but could do nothing because he was her boss. She picked the glass of coffee, placed it on the saucer and made her way towards his office. She walked angrily with hurried steps and bumped into a guy who was on his phone, sending the cup she held flying.
“I’m so so sorry” he apologized.
“You asshole!!!!!” She yelled angrily before realizing she used too harsh words and it was just a mistake.
“I’m sorry also, it’s fine” she added before walking back to make another coffee.
“Today’s not just my day” she muttered sadly as she made another coffee and took it to him.
“Sir, here is the coffee, and I’m sorry for the first mistake” she apologized professionally though she wasn’t wrong at first.
After dropping the coffee on his desk, she made her way out of his office and returned to her duties.
The day went well till it was lunchtime and she stepped out to the cafeteria for lunch. She gazed at the parking lot and noticed a car being parked in.
She kept walking till someone stepped down from the car and locked gaze with her.
It was the woman from Paxton’s office who gave her a deadly glare when she served him coffee.
She looked away and walked towards her direction.
Sydney reached the cafe and took a seat while making her orders. Her orders were served and she began eating peacefully.
She finished her meal and left the cafe after footing the bills.
She walked towards the company’s building only to feel a splash of chilled water on her back.
She gazed back at met with a pair of unremorseful eyes.
Sydney glared daggers at her as she felt the chills of the water on her sipping through her sleeve.
“Was that a mistake or a purposeful act?” Sydney asked, trying to convince herself it was a mistake.
“Are you that daft?, Cheap slut?” She asked disdainfully.
The word slut resounded in Sydney’s ears as she tried to contend with the anger brewing From within her.
“I will take anything but an insult from you, do you know me from anywhere? Have we met beforehand?” Sydney was forced to ask.
“I don’t need decades or centuries to know that you’re an inexpensive gold digger trying your best to seduce my darling Paxton” she fired at the already furious Sydney.
“Are you kidding me!!?” Sydney retorted, confusingly realizing that the whole drama was all about Paxton.
“Inasmuch as I have no affair with my boss, he can’t have anything to do with an old cargo like you” Sydney fired at her.
