“Harvey, you can’t be around here. If your mother sees you, you’ll put Lily in danger,” Rebecca said, still on the phone with Cassie, wanting her to hear that her initiative was a mistake.

“It’s no different from you leaving Lily with your psychopath of a husband. I don’t understand why you would repeat the same mistake, Harvey retorted coldly.

Rebecca felt her blood boil. “Repeat the same mistake, you say? If it weren’t for you and your inability to keep our family together, I would never have made this stupid mistake! How dare you blame me after everything you and your family have done to me and Lily! Just go away, Harvey, you’re not needed anymore-”

“And you, Cavie, I won’t be attending the meeting with Becky Brushes today. I’m very disappointed in you, Rebecca said, ending the call and gripping her phone tightly.

She glared at Harvey and turned back towards the condo, but Harvey suddenly grabbed her hand,

“We need to talk! Harvey snapped, pulling Rebecca into the bookstore next to the condo and cornering her in the farthest aisle.,

Rebecca yanked her hand free from Harvey’s grip. “What are you trying to do?” she hived angrily, standing on tiptoe to peek outside, worried someone might have followed them.

Harvey let out a long sigh and removed the mask covering his face, revealing his handsome, charismatic features that male Rebecca’s heart momentarily skip a beat. “I don’t have time for this. There’s nothing to talk about, Rebecca said, trying to push past. Harvey, but he blocked her path.

“Pecky, I can’t do this anymore, Harvey said, his voice unusually frustrated.

Rebecca frowned, confused. “I don’t understand what you mean”

Harvey sighed deeply. Listen, I still have to play my role in Victoria and Alicia’s game, at least until I find a way to free my mother-

“Yeah, take your time. If you’re so great and can handle everything on your own, then go ahead. Haven’t 1 told you, since you refused to involve me and Lily, there’s nothing left between us, Rebecca interrupted coldly.

Harvey rubbed his face in desperation. “Becky, give me six months. Please, go somewhere far away with Lily. You can consider one of the countries in Asia, and I promise I’ll follow you as soon as I’m done with Victoria”

Rebecca looked at him doubtfully, but Harvey suddenly grabbed her hand and held it tightly.

“None of us want anything bad to happen to Lily. I’ve already had Max investigate Sean’s background, and there’s something you need to know,” Harvey said.

Rebecca swallowed, unprepared for anything Harvey might say, especially since Max’s investigations were usually spot–on.

“You knew about Maggie Parker and her baby, right?”

Rebecca nodded, “Beatrice, yeah, why?”

“They had an accident that night while trying to escape from Sean. There’s something you need to see,” Harvey said, releasing Rebecca’s hand to take his phone out of his jeans pocket.

“Here’s a photo of Maggie’s autopsy that was hidden from the public,” Harvey said, showing Rebecca the screen of his phone.

“Oh God…”

Rebecca instantly felt weak. On the screen, she could see images of Maggie Parker’s face and body, covered in bruises, as if she had been brutally beaten before the accident that took her life.

Rebecca covered her face with both hands. “I have to go,

Lily…”

Harvey grabbed her hand. “Becky, listen to me carefully. My movements are limited because Victoria is always watching me, but Max will help you get out of here. Choose any country in Asia, and don’t tell anyone, not even me. When the time is right, I’ll find you,” he said earnestly.

Rebecca swallowed hard, her mind too chaotic to process everything. She only nodded stiffly, without saying a word. Harvey pulled her into his arms. “We’ll get through this again. Please, take care of yourself and Lily for me. I love you both.”

Rebecca walked stiffly out of the bookstore. She looked up at the condo she lived in, and suddenly, tears began to fall.

“It’s all my fault. I never should have rushed into marrying Sean. Instead of saving Lily, I’ve thrown her into the arms of a psychopath disguised as a good father,” she

murmured silently.

She knew that if she returned to the condo with a tense face, Sean would become suspicious of her. So she decided to stop for a moment at the café next to the bookstore to calm herself down. She ordered a cup of coffee and then called the number Harvey had given her.

“Max, this is Becky, do you remember me?”

“Of course I do. So, have you decided on a destination and departure time?” Max asked without any other questions, as Harvey had already told him everything.

Rebecca cleared her throat quietly and began to explain to Max what was on her mind.

An hour later, she returned to the condo, struggling to hide the turmoil inside her. At the front door, she took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, convincing herself that everything would be okay.

She opened the door slowly and stepped inside with a pounding heart.

“Becky, you’re back early?” Sean asked, sitting on the sofa with Lily in his arms.

Rebecca winced, “Yeah, the event ended early because one of the Becky Brushes members suddenly went into labor,” she replied, glancing at Lily sleeping peacefully in Sean’s arms and feeling a pang of guilt, realizing Sean probably wouldn’t hurt Lily just as he never hurt Bea.

“Is she okay?” Rebecca asked, looking at Lily and smiling, though her lips trembled slightly.

Sean smiled and nodded. “Yeah, she just had some milk. I’ll put her to sleep in your room,” he said, standing up and carrying Lily to Rebecca’s room.

“Shit, should I confront him and give him a chance to explain? How can I just leave when he’s helped me so much?” Rebecca murmured silently. She watched Sean’s back with hesitation.

“But he’s an abuser, Becky! He beat his wife so badly that she had to flee in fear and died in an accident! Where’s your solidarity as a fellow woman?” a voice in her head screamed.

“Becky? Are you okay?” Sean asked, noticing Rebecca standing in the hallway, staring blankly at the bedroom door.

Rebecca swallowed hard, her hands trembling as she couldn’t hold back her question any longer.

“Sean, I think we need to talk…”
