Chapter 394
Chapter 394
Luca’s POV
James didn’t pick the call, probably because he’s still asleep from hangover, and so I shot him a couple
of texts and decided to get some work done now that I was in here.
Today was a Sunday, but it didn’t mean I wouldn’t be working from home at all. I usually work on
Sunday before Sofia’s presence in my life, and even after he presence in my life at first, I only stopped
once we began to get closer and all of that.
Now that I find myself going back to this, it made me shudder in distaste at the thought of going back to
how I used to act around her in the past.
That only made me feel more determined to have that conversation with her today, and I was going to
do just that.
But, for now, I’m going to be getting some work done.
I needed to carry out some more research, and I also needed to make some important phone calls.
There are a lot of bad guys roaming around, waiting to catch me off guard, while some were obviously
planning lots of things at once against me.
Which is why there’s so much to be done right now.
I don’t remember getting into another mafia‘s business or stealing their costumer. Those costumers just
chose to come straight to our mafia because our products were the very best in the market today, and
also in huge quantities.
That could be why a lot of people were jealous of me. It wasn’t something new to be envied, I’ve
always been envied since I was a little kids ny my classmates, who had thought being from a rich and
powerful family was something worth celebrating over, not knowing that I see nothing but hell in my
father’s hands while growing up.
In a way, I knew I wouldn’t be as tough as I am right now, if it wasn’t for how firmly my father had
brought me up.
Things would have been so much better if he hadn’t gone about it in the way he had done, with so
much violence and threats while growing up, it had really sucked big time.
I really hated thinking about any of this, because that way, I get unknowingly pulled down into the
memories that I had shoved at the very back of my heart.
I breathed out a sigh as I flipped out a file, it was one which I had been working on about five days ago.
I had been comparing a couple of receipts records together, because some of the numbers along with
the whole total amount of money, all wasn’t adding up like they were sup to.
This was the record of the selling of the mafia. I don’t directly handle the payment, that’s assigned to a
group of three underbosess in my mafia. I had been thoroughly going through the records, because I
wanted to pick out where the problem is actually from before actually bringing up the topic with those in
charge of the mafia’s wallet.
The mafia on its own make nothing less than ten million dollars at the end of each month, and that’s
when the market wasn’t really booming. Once it’s actually booming, the mafia could make up to twenty
five million dollars in a single month.
I’m very well off without the huge chain of companies I own, but everyone in the mafia market, has one
font or the other, in order to have an image in which people wouldn’t suspect a damn thing on seeing
how rich the person actually is.
But unlike other mafia, apart from the dealings with drugs which I’d never smoked, that was all my
mafia was involved in, while others were involved in really perverted things that I wish I could put a stop
to with just a single word.
I kept flipping through the file before setting two more files alongside the first one and comparing them
all along with one another.
After about thirty minutes, I wrote the end results of my findings aside and packed up the files. This
couldn’t be completely solved here in the office at home, I’m going to have to continue the rest of my
findings in the office at one of the clubs together.
I existed the office a few minutes after that. It was already some minutes after twelve p.m in the
afternoon, and I was starting to crave some coffee.
I entered the kitchen, glancing around for maltose when I sighted Matilda huddled over Sarah who was
leaning against the kitchen’s wall– while breathing hard.
I instantly got concerned.
I drew closer to them and watched as Matilda hastily stood up straight as soon as she sighted me,
while Sarah attempted to rise up from the ground– but Maltida hastily stopped her from doing just that.
“What happened?” I asked and they both answered at once.
“It’s nothing, I’m just tired.”
“She has advanced cancer.”
My eyes widened in shock, as well as Sarah who glared at an apologetic looking maltida.
“She didn’t want any of you to know. It didn’t just start today, but she was hell bent on hiding it. Her
health is really declining and she needs immediate medical attention.” Matilda continued after a few
seconds while pointedly ignoring Sarah’s gaze. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
I moved my gaze from Matilda to Sarah who shook her head as she spoke. “Please ignore Matilda,
she’s just overreacting.”
“She fainted.” Matilda pointed out and Sarah pursed her lips right after.
I regarded the both of them for a few moments before crouching low to touch Sarah’s head. Her
temperature was high and she looked quite pale. I easily lifted her in my arms and carried her to the
sitting room while she continuously tried to reassure me that she could walk.
Unlike James and Armani, I wasn’t that physically close to Sarah, but I still adored her.
After some minutes, I informed her that henceforth, I was giving her a long leave in order for her to get
thoroughly treated, and that I was also going to be finding all of her medical bills.
She sobbed profusely while thanking me but I kept reassuring her that it was nothing.
