MOON STONE PACK

It was late in the night, Meagan woke up to severe pains all over her body. She was feeling uncomfortable and paranoid at the same time. And it has been like that for quite some days now. In Meagan’s mind, she was really scared but she couldn’t explain why she was having such a feeling.
Meagan went into the bathroom to pee. She stepped out, motioned towards the door and walked out of the room. The bed was empty which only means that Carl wasn’t back home.
“Meagan, are you okay?” Mrs Gabriella Damien’s voice stopped her on track.
Meagan turned around to look at the old lady who just stepped out of her room. Mrs Gabriella Damien has been in the pack just simply nursing her heavily pregnant daughter in law.
“Oh no.. I feel so much pains all over my body.” Meagan admitted.
Mrs Gabriella Damien rushed towards her daughter in law. “Oh.. my.. child.” She led Meagan into the living room.
“I feel so scared. Have you heard from Carl? Where is he? I haven’t seen him in days now.” Meagan complained as Mrs Gabriella Damien helped her settled on the couch.
“Carl is fine. He is in a meeting with his officials. He has been very busy trying to put some things in place. Let me get you water.” Mrs Gabriella Damien walked off into the kitchen.
“My child.. I need you to relax.” The old lady came back with a glass of water.
Meagan collected the glass and gulped down the whole liquid. “Can I go and see Carl? He should be free to see me for some minutes.” Meagan couldn’t stay calm. She felt warm and hot at the same time. She didn’t see a reason to sit back anymore and wait for her mate to come and see her. It has been close to five days since she last saw him.
Mrs Gabriella Damien sat beside her on the couch. “Listen my dear, I know you are worried about your mate. But I need you to calm down for the pups sake.” She said in a calm tone.
Meagan breathed out and nodded in agreement. Mrs Gabriella Damien pondered if it was right to tell her daughter in law the whole truth.
“Is there anything wrong? Are you hiding something from me?” Meagan demanded when she noticed that the old lady looked distant and lost in thought.
“I don’t know if I should share this information with you.” Mrs Gabriella Damien held Meagan’s hands.
“Please tell me what’s going on? Is it about the pack? Or even Carl?” Meagan rushed out her words.
“This is mainly about the pack. We have been having problems with the vampire rogues for some time now. They want a part of our land but we can’t let them have it. The zeta has sent out the words of the alpha to their leader to make peace but nothing is working.” Mrs Gabriella Damien explained.
“Yes. I remember Carl sharing the tale of how he and Brianna fought off some of the vampires rogues. Can’t the head of the vampires tame the rogues? At least they are of the same kind.” Meagan asked.
Mrs Gabriella Damien shook her head in pity. “Vampire Millan tried to control the rogues even though he doesn’t have any power over them. So they ended up taking his life the day he visited to make peace with the rogues. It seems like they don’t want to be governed but want to remain outcasts and have their pack.”
Meagan raised her eyebrows. “That’s weird.” She mumbled.
“They have gone berserk and started killing werewolves and even vampires. Those blood suckers are cruel and heartless!” Mrs Gabriella Damien hissed out.
“So what’s the plan? They can’t be stopped?” Meagan asked.
“War.” Mrs Gabriella Damien said.
“War? Does that mean the wolves have to fight against the vampire rogues?” Meagan demanded with a worried look on her face.
“Carl and other alpha’s already declared war. They are going to fight against the vampire rogues.” Mrs Gabriella Damien answered.
Panic set within Meagan as the thought of Carl going to war. “There should be another way to tame the vampire rogues.”
Mrs Gabriella Damien gave her small hands a gentle squeeze. “Trying to make peace over the years didn’t work out. The only way to tame the vampire rogues is if their leader is killed. I heard she is a female.”
Meagan eyes widened in shock. “A woman has been the one terrorizing packs?!” She gasped out.
“Yes. I also heard that she ran away from her native pack after killing her step father at the age of thirteen. She became a rogue, received shelter from an older rogue who happened to be an ex trained warrior. He trained her to be ruthless and deadly.” Mrs Gabriella recounted.
“He must have engraved the wrong ideologies in her head.” Meagan replied.
Mrs Gabriella Damien shook her head. “You are right.”
“I am scared. Does Carl have to go to war?” Meagan asked.
“Yes. The alphas are risking their lives to save the werewolves. And they have been working so hard to bring up plans and tactics to defeat the vampire rogues.” Mrs Gabriella Damien responded.
“I hope they win the war against the vampire rogues. When are they leaving?” Meagan questioned.
“In two days time.” Mrs Gabriella replied.
“I need to see Carl before he leaves for -” A knock on the main door interrupted her sentence.
Mrs Gabriella Damien sniffed the air. “Carl is here!” She stood up and went to the door.
A small smile crept on Meagan’s face but it didn’t hide the worried expression. Carl came in when his mate was about to stand up from the couch.
“My love.. please sit.” He rushed towards her.
Meagan sat back on the couch while alpha Carl crouched down in front of her. “Carl-” Her voice trailed off. Seeing him made her realize how much she has missed him.
“I am sorry for not coming to check on you.” He apologized.
Tears clouded her eyes as she reached out to touch his face. “Have you been eating well?” She asked.
“Sure. I have just been busy working on some things.” He exchanged glances with his mother.
“She knows the truth.” Mrs Gabriella Damien said.
Alpha Carl reached out to touch Meagan’s belly. “I know you are going to war with the other alphas to fight against the vampire rogues.” Meagan said.
Alpha Carl looked up at her. “I am sorry. I didn’t want to tell you about it because I was scared of the effect it would have on you.” He sat down next to her on the couch.
“I know Carl.” She mumbled.
“We have prepared everything and I am certain we’ll in this war. So don’t worry too much.” Alpha Carl forced a smile on his face.
He knew it wasn’t going to be easy facing the vampire rogues but they are all willing to take the risks just to bring peace back to the lycan world.
“Carl, don’t forget the promise you made to me.” Meagan held his hand and brought it down to her belly again.
“I won’t die in the war. I’ll return to be with you and our pups.” He leaned in and kissed her lips.
“You should get some sleep now. It is late.” He whispered.
“Are you leaving already?” A sad look crossed her expression.
“No, I have the day off to be with you.” Alpha Carl stood up from the couch and stretched out his hands to help her up.
Meagan smiled. “Really? I can-” a sharp pain in her belly caused her to sit back down on the couch.
“Are you okay?” Alpha Carl knelt down in front of her.
“I am.. feeling.. this pain-” Meagan yelped again when another wave of pain shot through her.
“What’s going on?!” Alpha Carl looked at his mother.
“The pups.. we should take her to the.. infirmary.. she is getting contractions!” Mrs Gabriella Damien stammered.
“Is it time?! Oh my goodness! I thought it is in two weeks time!” Carl panicked.
“She can have the pups at this point.” Mrs Gabriella Damien fired back at her son.
“Okay.. okay.. we should go to the infirmary.” Alpha Carl took out his cellphone. He told Beta Julius about the situation and gave out instructions to call the Theta.
Mrs Gabriella Damien rushed into Meagan’s room to bring the pups things while Carl already led his mate out of the house. Meagan was in pains while Carl and his mother were under tension. The contractions hitting harder every two minutes, leaving her breathless and trembling when they finally reached the infirmary.
The theta, Hazel, Julius and four other Iotas were waiting for their arrival outside the infirmary. Carl entrusted his mate and pups to the medical team. He was trying so hard to stay strong for them.
