Alpha King’s pregnant Ex-Luna

Furthermore, her lovable personality was well-known among the pack. Nelly, a mysterious figure to them with her human occupation, simply viewed her job as just that – a job. The concerns and thoughts of the pack were of no importance to her.

During the following afternoon’s lull, around the time when the moon began its descent from its zenith, a voice called out to her, piercing through the sleepy haze that enveloped her senses.

“Ms. Jackson, Mr. Yondel requests your presence in his den,” the voice echoed.

Shaking off the haze and regaining her clarity, Nelly made her way towards the alpha’s den without much contemplation. It was a normal routine, after all.

“Did you need me?” she asked, her knuckles gently rapping against the alpha’s door.

Nelson had just concluded a conversation, his eyes lighting up upon seeing her. With a warm smile, he gestured for her to take a seat.

“Please, have a seat, Nelly,” he motioned.

Obediently, Nelly approached him and settled into the offered chair.

“I wanted to inform you that I have an unexpected business trip. However, this afternoon, there is a crucial meeting with Prime Investment Corporation, which has expressed interest in collaboration. I need you to attend in my stead,” Nelson explained.

Nodding her understanding, Nelly replied, “Alright, I will handle it.”

Nelson paused, surprised by her quick acceptance. Placing the relevant documents before her, he continued, “These are the necessary information about the potential collaboration. Study it thoroughly and do your utmost to secure the partnership.”

“I will give my best effort,” she assured him.

Nelly never belittled herself or questioned the tasks given to her. She was not one to waste time on unnecessary doubts.

Initially, Nelson expected to spend time persuading her, as he knew the rumors circulating through the pack. He couldn’t help but inquire, “Nelly, is it true that you paid for Chris’s sister’s surgery?”

Nelly’s nonchalant nod left him speechless.

Some may think that Nelly accepted the task solely for monetary gain, yet she never mentioned it before. Moreover, she wholeheartedly and generously donated a portion of the one million she had received. It was difficult for Nelson to determine if wealth truly held no value in her eyes, or if she merely took her work seriously, considering it separate from material gain.

Unable to peer into her true intentions, Nelson became slightly more cautious around her. Awkwardly smiling, he dismissed her, “Alright then, you may go now. I must prepare for my trip.”

With that, Nelly left his presence, clutching the documents in her grasp.

After investing time into studying the information, Nelly felt confident in her grasp on the possible collaboration with Prime Investment Corporation. It seemed like a simple task to accomplish.

Suddenly, her phone rang, interrupting her thoughts. Seeing that it was an unknown caller, Nelly answered, her voice melodic yet tinged with caution. “Hello?”

“Is this Ms. Jackson from Prosper Technologies?” a voice on the other end inquired.

“Yes, it is. Who is this?” Nelly replied.

“I am from Prime Investment Corporation. As you know, we previously scheduled a meeting for today at four o’clock. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, we may need to postpone it to six. Would that be acceptable to you?” the young lady explained.

Nelly considered for a moment before responding, “That should not be an issue.”

“In that case, I will send you the new meeting location.”

“Very well, thank you.”

With a brief exchange, the call ended.

As she sat there, a cup of coffee appeared before her, jolting her from her momentary exhaustion. Raising her eyes, Nelly saw Chris grinning at her, his transformation striking.

It amazed her how someone could wear multiple masks. Previously, when she covered the expenses for his sister’s surgery, he always carried a stoic expression, like most wolves of the pack. Yet now, he often wore a carefree smile that unsettled her. She found it difficult to accept the change in his demeanor.

“Thank you,” Nelly acknowledged.

“Working on a new project, are you?” Chris asked.

Her head bobbed in affirmation. “Yes.”

“Well, if you need any assistance, feel free to ask. I’m always available,” he offered.

“I can handle it myself,” she retorted confidently.

Her self-assuredness gave off an air of arrogance. However, in Chris’s eyes, she had every right to carry such an attitude.

“Perfect. I shall return to my duties then,” he said, departing with a smile.

Nelly was left speechless.

Why does his demeanor towards me differ so drastically now? He changes expressions as swiftly as Donna changes forms.

As the workday drew to a close, Nelly found herself heading to a meeting instead of going home. Climbing into her car, she dialed Alpha Wade’s number to inform him of her appointment. However, before she could utter a complete sentence, Ben intercepted the call.

“Nelly, is the person you’re meeting a man or a woman?” Ben inquired.

“There are both men and women.”

“And which company do they represent?”

“Prime Investment Corporation, an investment company.”This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.

Ben’s voice seeped with concern as he offered a piece of advice. “Nelly, listen to me. As a pretty woman attending a meeting at this hour, you must remain vigilant. Many companies try to lure attractive women under the guise of work, when their true intentions may be malicious. Please be careful.”

Nelly couldn’t help but laugh at his words. “Where did you hear such things?”

“Erm… From dramas.”

“Stop watching those dramas. They’re not good for your development.”

“Well, life is just like a theater play. Anyway, please be cautious.”

“I will.”

“Okay, go on now. Return as soon as you can. We’ll be waiting for you.”

“Alright, got it.”

“Goodbye, Nelly. Love you!”

Her smile lingering, Nelly ended the call.

Lifting her head, she found herself standing before her destination – Moonlight Hotel. Stepping out of her car, Nelly spotted a woman waiting for her at the entrance.

“Are you Ms. Jackson?” the woman inquired.

“Yes, I am.”

“Mr. Williams instructed me to wait for you here. Please follow me.”

Nelly nodded, following the woman closely.

Entering the spacious private room, Nelly found herself met with the gaze of five or six individuals seated around a table large enough to accommodate twice their number. A variety of dishes adorned the table.

“Ms. Jackson from Prosper Technologies has arrived,” the woman announced upon their arrival.

All conversation ceased as the occupants turned their attention towards the door.

The man positioned in the center stood up promptly, extending a welcoming hand. “She’s from Prosper Technologies? Come, sit with us.”

Nelly’s gaze swept across the room, capturing the attention of each individual. With a calm demeanor, she approached the man.

“Allow me to introduce her to all of you. This is…” The man, Dave Williams, trailed off, momentarily forgetting her name.

“Nelly Jackson from Prosper Technologies,” Nelly introduced herself.

“Ah, I see. Originally, this meeting was scheduled for later in the afternoon, but I had to move it due to unforeseen circumstances. Now that everyone is present, let us hear her proposal,” Dave declared.

The rest of the group nodded, their eyes intently focused on Nelly.

“It is a pleasure to meet all of you,” Nelly acknowledged. Dave extended his hand, and Nelly reciprocated the gesture with a polite handshake.

“Please, have a seat,” he offered, hastily arranging a chair for her.

Settling into her seat, Nelly produced the necessary documents. “Mr. Williams, I have brought the relevant documents.”

“Let’s not rush into that,” Dave responded, glancing at the waiter beside him. “Pour Ms. Jackson some wine, and we shall discuss the collaboration over our meal.”

“I’m sorry, I don’t drink wine,” Nelly rejected without hesitation.

Dave paused, momentarily taken aback. “Ah, I forgot you’re a woman. What about coffee then?”

As soon as he finished his question, he turned to the waiter and instructed, “Bring Ms. Jackson a cup of coffee.”

With grace, the waiter served Nelly the coffee.

Nelly had never attended a dinner of this nature before. In her previous experiences overseas, dinners were typically buffet-style affairs, and even then, she rarely participated. Thus, with her guard instinctively up, Nelly couldn’t help but regard her surroundings warily.

Meanwhile, Dave’s gaze lingered on the waiter, his expression twisting with an unsettling curiosity as the coffee was poured for Nelly.
