Mr. President’s 41

“She’s my best friend and I love her, Griffin gulped down a glass of fruit juice.

Angie stopped eating and folded her arms to her chest, giving him a quizzical look. “You know what I’m talking about,”

Griffin found Angie’s gaze on him so intense, he couldn’t hide it. “Please don’t tell her,” he finally said,

Now it was Angie’s turn to feel a twitch in her heart. She thought she had gotten over her feelings for Griffin, only to realise it was just covered, to be uncovered. “Now we are keeping secrets.”

“Please I don’t want you to tell her before I do,” Criftin begged her

“How long have you been in love with her!”

“I don’t know, I guess I always have. I just haven’t realized it because,

“Penelope kept you occupied!”

“Perhaps. Everything between me and Penelope has been sex. I just realized we didn’t have a connection. I couldn’t even cry when she left me. I guess I wasn’t as pained as when Nathan took Mercedes‘ first time.

“Why didn’t you tell her?

As I said. I didn’t know. I thought I just cared. I never knew it was more than that till you girls moved out. I miss her every day. What I felt for her was more than friendship.”

Angie had matured and she was good at hiding her feelings. Also, she wasn’t so worried because she knew that Griffin didn’t stand a chance against Nathan. He already had Mercedes’s heart and that was enough. “You’ll get over it, she smiled.

“What if I don’t want to? What if I want her?” Griffin insisted. He felt the need to fight for Mercedes. At least he could give her a comfortable life.

“Griff, she just started something with Nat,” Angle reminded him.

“It doesn’t matter. Just like me, she thinks she loves him. I see the way she looks at me. I got this, he said in self–assurance.

Angie couldn’t help being worried. It was enough that Jane was trying to put Mercedes and Nathan apart but for Grifin to join the threshold was going to be war. “Griff, what do you intend to do?”

Griffin had turned solemn and activated his boss‘ mood, let’s get back to work.”

It’s been a week since Nathan and Mercedes began their relationship, low key. Mercedes had spent most of her nights with him. However, Irrespective of how much Nathan begged her to move in with him, she disagreed because she felt it wasn’t right

Oliver has been discharged but there isn’t any improvement with her Dad. She also realized that Nathan now communicated more with her mam and Oliver than she does. All her mum talks about when she calls are Nathan this, Nathan that. She couldn’t explain how he managed to weave his way into their heart. But the fact was, Nathan could be a very lovable person when he wanted to.

Mercedes might not have the title of his fiance or wife but she has enjoyed Nathan better than anyone else ever has. While their relationship grew stronger, their enemies were also planning against them. Jane hasn’t been able to spend any time with Nathan as his fiance therefore, her loath for Mercedes grew each day.

To exert revenge, she secretly circulated messages through the company’s server to Nathan’s staff unknown to him, portraying Mercedes, as the mistress who came between two lovers, banging her way through favours.

When Mercedes began getting cold shoulders, socers and whispers of a mistress, the name she hated so much, she didn’t tell Nathan about it. Those she met face to face, she gave her peace of mind. Well, nothing could be hidden from Nathan for long especially when Mercedes‘ wellbeing was his number one priority.

It wasn’t hard for him to find out after seeing Mercedes’s moodiness. Secretly, he got surveillance of the places she had been to check if someone upset her. He got the shocking revelation of rumours that aroused his fury making him summon Vincent to his office and the latter almost pissed. in his pants

“What have you been doing as the HR Manager Vincent?” Nathan was so icy, Vincent shivered as if he was walking naked at the peak of winter.

“Appraisals, salaries, staff well being, promotions.”

*Suff wellbeing. Elaborate on it Nathan didn’t allow Vincent to finish and chimed in another question.

Vincent was nervous. “Ensuring that the rights of staff are preserved and everyone has a safe environment to work in.” Nathan motioned him to his laptop.

“So you haven’t seen this?” Vincent watched the video playing and begged the ground to open for him to bury himself. From the car pack to the elevator. Mercedes was mocked all the way!

Please Mr President, I will take care of it, his voice shook as he spoke.

Nathan was furious. “How?” He wanted to know,

“Per company standards, they need to be served a query, Vincent stuttered.

“Wrong. Per my standards, I want all of them fired. Recruit their replacement and get a message across in warning to deter others. If this happens again, you will be finding your replacement, Nathan uttered, deadpanned. In his analysis, there were two culprits to every rumour. The sparkers, and the spreaders. Wherever you found yourself among the two Ss, you had to pay.

“It will never happen again. Mr Legend,” Vincent firmly said before walking out

It wasn’t up to five minutes after Vincent left Nathan’s office that emails flooded staff inboxes against name–calling with a deterrent of being fired Something tickled Mercedes when she received the email, that the instruction was from Nathan, Half of the staff had also been fired and the HR department was busy with recruiting their replacements. Since that day, not even the directors got as much respect as the President’s Assistant. Talking to her or anything that is done to her was tantamount to being done to the President himself. Mercedes‘ bubbling mood returned and when she served Nathan his morning coffee, he was satisfied with what he did. Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

“I was expecting you last night,” he smiled after tasting his perfect coffee.

“I didn’t know I was supposed to be in your house every night, Mercedes pouted,

“Well, now you do, Nathan smirked.

That isn’t going to happen,” Mercedes smiled mischievously.

“Are you sure Miss Winters?” Nathan stood from his luxury swivel chair and strode towards her, hugging her from the back. “Now you have to be punished for disobedience,” he pecked her neck and said.

She turned to face him.

him, “and how is that?” She asked flirtatiously.

Nathan carried her, placing her on his desk, his finger finding her weak spot between her thighs. Arrrrrgh,” she moaned. “Not here please Nat.”

“So where! Your place or my place? Nathan kissed her and asked

“You place, I’ll be there by 8. She said but Nathan knew how unsettled she could be and countered,

“No need, we’ll go together, his hands slipped into her clothes. Another moan escaped her, as she pulled hir fire” she moaned.

“Not here babe,” Nathan teased her, withdrawing his hands.

pulled him closer, taking his lips. “Please stop the

Mercedes was upset. Her body craved him and he just stopped. Nathan took her lips passionately. He would have gone all the way but he knew Mercedes would regret it after. The office was for work. “Next time you disobey me, I will take you right here on this table, or we will spend the night in that small bedroom. Do I make myself clear?”

She nodded her head quickly, her face blushing red. As she stood to return to her office, Nathan pulled her back, “I love you Merce,”

“I love,” she didn’t complete her sentence when a knock invaded their sweet moment. It was quite unexpected because Nathan didn’t have an appointment. He ensured Mercedes had left for her office before he decoded the door, Well, he must have taken too long because there was no one at the door. He locked it and could swear he heard voices from Mercedes’s office.

Naturally, he strolled there, his anger boiling when he saw the person flirtatiously speaking to Mercedes. He wanted to commit murder.
