Mated to my sister’s ugly mate

9

In her whole lifetime, Shadow Eden had never sleepwalked. Her parents had always made sure she had a tiny bed.

So sleepwalking was not something she was familiar with. Then why was she here?

She definitely wouldn’t crawl beside him. Plus, the bed was too small for both of them. So there was only one reason.

Blushing, she turned to look at him. “You carried me, didn’t you?”

“How do you think I could carry you?” Alpha Kilian snorted and looked at her coldly. “If memory serves me right, you should remember that I’m injured.”

That was true… He was injured. Could it be that she really crawled to his side?

Shadow had never been in bed with a man before. But Alpha Kilian’s strong and cool aura calmed her anger. She pressed her lips together nervously and tried to get out of bed. However, the man beside her grabbed her wrist.

“Why are your hands so pale, while your face is like wax?” the man asked, doubting.

“I…” Shadow’s bright eyes widened in surprise, and she quickly pulled her hand back. She spoke in a low voice, “I was born like this.”

Not wanting to answer any more questions, Shadow jumped out of bed like a rabbit and went to the bathroom.

In front of the mirror in the bathroom, Shadow stared at her reflection with self-mockery in her eyes. Her yellowish complexion, dark spots, and dull eyes would scare anyone, even in their sleep.

She grabbed a bottle of cleansing water from under the sink and quickly cleansed her face. Her movements were swift and simple, as if she had done it many times before.

A few minutes later, a beautiful woman with rosy cheeks, bright eyes, and white teeth appeared in the mirror.

No one would recognize her if they saw her like this. Who would expect that such a beautiful girl hid beneath all that concealer?

If she hadn’t started renting a house after graduating and cleansing her face every day, she would have forgotten her true appearance.

Most mothers would be happy if their daughter was beautiful.Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.

But Lisa was different.

When Shadow was a child, Lisa always complained that she stole Jessica’s spotlight. So her mother never bought her any new clothes.

But even though she couldn’t hide Shadow’s beauty, it only fueled Lisa’s resentment.

At that time, Shadow loved her mother dearly and did everything to make Lisa happy. She thought that if she looked ugly and stayed out of the limelight as her mother wanted, maybe Lisa would finally love her and accept her.

She went from being a popular, beautiful girl with many friends to an ugly girl who had nobody. Despite everyone’s hatred, she remained steadfast in her decision, hoping to receive a little bit of her mother’s love…

But it was all in vain. No matter what she did, Lisa didn’t care about her.

Even though Shadow didn’t want to believe it, Lisa didn’t love her at all.

Looking at her pitiful reflection in the mirror, Shadow sighed. She put on her disguise again and left the bathroom.

Alpha Kilian was leaning over the bed, looking at his cellphone with an expressionless face. His cold demeanor only made him more attractive.

She thought for a moment and said, “I’m going out. You should call someone to pick you up and go home.”

Alpha Kilian didn’t respond.

Shadow didn’t care. She grabbed her bag and left. She had already completed her last task and didn’t want to deal with this man anymore.

Lisa had forced her to come home for an arranged marriage, so she hurriedly finished her final job.

But the ironic part was that she was marrying a man she had never met, and who didn’t want to meet her!

But she could be grateful that Alpha Kilian didn’t bother her.

Right now, she needed to find a new job to support herself.

The morning quickly passed, and noon arrived.

She was waiting for the bus at the station. It wasn’t rush hour, so there weren’t many people waiting.

Suddenly, a black car stopped in front of her.

The window rolled down, revealing a young man with a gentle smile. “Shadow, where are you going?”

Her eyes immediately lit up, and her voice was full of excitement. “Jacob, what are you doing here?”

“Get in the car first. Otherwise, the traffic police will sue us.” Jacob smiled and opened the passenger seat for her.

Shadow nodded and got into the car. But as soon as she got in, she heard him say, “I asked your sister to join us for dinner. Now that you’re here too, let’s all eat together.”

He asked Jessica to dinner?

But she shouldn’t be surprised by it.

Many people believed that Jacob and Jessica were perfect for each other. With Jessica’s sweetness and Jacob’s confidence, they were a match made in heaven.

But they weren’t together before. Jacob had always been kind to her, so Shadow had hoped he might have a slight interest in her. But now it seemed like she was expecting too much.

Shadow forced a smile. “I still have some things to do. I’m sorry, I can’t…”

“Come on, Shadow, we haven’t had dinner together in a long time. Just come with us.” He rejected her words and drove towards the restaurant.

“Fine.” How could she refuse him? He had been the only one who had been good to her all these years.

Soon, they arrived at the restaurant.

Jessica was already there, dressed beautifully as always. Her face lit up when she saw Jacob, but it quickly turned cold as she noticed Shadow standing behind him.

Jacob didn’t notice the change in her expression. “Jessica, I met Shadow on the way, so I brought her along. Do you mind?”

Jessica smiled softly. “She’s my sister. Why would I mind?”

“I need to go to the restroom. You two can chat while I’m gone.” With a smile, he left the two women alone.

As soon as Jacob turned away, the room’s temperature dropped to freezing point. Jessica’s gentle gaze turned monstrous.

“What are you up to? That disabled man from the Lances’ family isn’t enough for you, so you try to seduce Jacob?”
