Chapter 1138: Forever a Bachelor

Sandy looked at the car keys Stella handed over. "Is this really necessary?"

Stella whispered, "Perhaps she wants to make up for something."

Sandy furrowed her brows upon hearing this. "She's herself, and Luca is Luca. What does she need to

make up for?"

Stella shook her head. "Since she's giving it, just accept it."

Sandy had intended to say something more, but in the end, she swallowed her words. Sometimes, it

wasn't necessary to explain everything in detail. Being vague could work too.

Thankfully, Meggie was a wise and rational person. She hadn't caused any trouble for Stella due to the

Luca incident.

"What do you all want to eat tonight?" Stella changed the topic, not wanting to dwell on this.

Yanis lounged on the bed. "I'm not hungry. Zane brought me something to eat earlier."

"Mr. Lawrence is like a walking kitchen now. Whatever you want to eat, he can fulfill your cravings

anytime, anywhere," Stella whispered.

"I definitely won't go back with those two," Bonnie said as she handed a biscuit to Mles. "I've had

enough dog food. I'm allergic to it now."

Stella chimed in, "Come with me."

Bonnie agreed, "No problem."

Yanis looked at the two of them with disdain. "So quickly moving on to new love and forgetting the old?

That's what you guys are like."

"You're the old love," Stella and Bonnie said in unison.

Yanis sighed, sat up, and said to Sandy, "Sandy, I have a grudge against them. Please kick them out!"

Sandy waved her hand. "Don't involve me. I won't help anyone!"

The room was in chaos as the conversation escalated. Eventually, after Sandy and Yanis discussed it,

they decided to sneak out for a nearby hotpot dinner in the evening, taking advantage of Brandon and

Zane being away.

Stella and Bonnie were a bit jittery. Taking them out for hotpot might end up with them being beaten up,

but not taking them would also be uncomfortable.

In the end, they decided to proceed with the plan and enjoy sisterhood. They took the two "national

treasures" out for hotpot.

On the other side, a group of men were having a blast.

After tonight, Brandon would be a married man. This naturally led to him being teased and ridiculed by

those who were still single or hadn't stepped into marriage yet.

Everyone paired off, and refusing a drink was almost impossible. As soon as someone offered a toast,

it came with the phrase, "Good things come in pairs."

After all, on such a joyful occasion, it was difficult to refuse. This led Brandon to consume quite a bit of

alcohol.

After a round of toasting, Brandon waved his hand. "Guys, give me a break, will you?"

While they wanted to get him a bit drunk, they were aware of the wedding the next day and showed

restraint, granting Brandon a reprieve.

Maybe the initial heavy drinking took its toll, because once he stopped, the alcohol gradually took effect

on Brandon. He leaned against a corner, lit a cigarette, and tried to alleviate the sensation.

"Can you handle a few more drinks?"

Just as Brandon lit his cigarette, a new figure joined him.

Brandon turned his head to see who it was. "Yeah."

Anthony chuckled. "Aren't you worried I'll mess with you? Deliberately getting you drunk so you can't

attend the wedding tomorrow. You know with Sandy's temper, there's no room for forgiveness."

Biting his cigarette, Brandon replied, "Mr. Austi, it seems like you want to fight me right now."

Anthony gestured dismissively. "Sorry, I don't hit senior citizens."

Brandon's voice was raspy. "You already punched me once, and it hurt."

Anthony chuckled softly, lighting a cigarette for himself. "Congratulations."

"Thanks."

The two exchanged a few more words.

Brandon finished his cigarette, extinguishing the butt, and turned to Anthony, sitting beside him. He

asked in a low voice, "How do you want to handle this?"

"I'm not going to bully an old man." Anthony stubbed out the unfinished cigarette in the ashtray. "Let's

have a symbolic couple of drinks tonight and properly celebrate tomorrow night."

"Why so particular?"

"Must be. After all, you can't escape tomorrow night. Tonight, let this old man rest up a bit." All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

Hearing Anthony's words, Brandon took a deep breath. "More than drinking, I want to beat you up."

Anthony responded, "Can you beat me?"

Brandon stared at Anthony for a few seconds before sighing, as if accepting his fate. "Never mind. An

old man like me definitely isn't a match for you young folks."

They say love rivals meeting causes jealousy to burn bright. Anthony had once wanted to compete

fairly with Brandon for Sandy's affection, but he knew he had no chance. Thus, there was no need for

jealousy or rivalry. Sometimes, straightforward blessings were more dignified. Even though they held

these sentiments, they were still faced with a crowd of people insisting on toasts.

Brandon could barely handle a drink per person, let alone the couples.

As the event ended, Zane and Kason helped Brandon into the car.

"Will he be able to wake up tomorrow?" Zane asked as he looked at Brandon, who was completely out

of it.

Kason glanced at Brandon, who was barely conscious. "I'm staying with him tonight. I'll wake him up

tomorrow."

Zane nodded. "You guys go back. We'll head to the hotel ourselves."

Zane had actually planned to leave earlier, but Anthony and Brandon had insisted he stay as a witness

to their friendliness, as if they were proving something.

What nonsense!

They behaved like sworn brothers. They might as well have kowtowed on the spot!

As Kason led Brandon away, Zane turned and headed back into the hall.

Anthony had also consumed a fair amount of alcohol tonight, but he was in better shape than Brandon.

He sat on a chair, lit a cigarette, and looked somewhat decadent.

Zane approached, kicking Anthony's outstretched leg. "You still able to get up?"

Anthony lifted his gaze to Zane's face. "Do I look drunk to you?"

"Aren't you drunk?"

Anthony smiled, stood up, and turned a full circle in front of Zane. "Look drunk,

right?"

Zane gave him a disdainful look. "Since you're not drunk, let's go. I need to prepare food for Yanis."

Anthony muttered, "Zane, I never realized you were so... considerate."

Zane snorted. "A perennial bachelor. What can you expect?"

Anthony grumbled a curse, took a deep drag of his cigarette, and followed Zane's lead, walking ahead

of him.

In truth, Anthony was a bit drunk. It was evident in his unsteady gait. Not wanting to let him trip, Zane

walked beside him, ready to lend a hand if needed. He didn't want Anthony to be less than presentable

at Sandy's wedding tomorrow.
