Chapter 1136: Hoping to Meet You Sooner in the Next Life
Lane smoothly took Mles from Zane's arms. "I've had this idea."
Zane gave him a disdainful look. "It's been so long, and you've made zero progress. Are you just
following her around randomly?"
"You wouldn't understand."
Zane let out a harsh exhale. "I really don't."
Lane teased Mles for a moment before speaking in a hushed tone. "She loves Myles. If she had agreed
to be with me so quickly, she wouldn't be herself. Regardless, I've resigned myself to a lifetime of
waiting. Even if she never agrees in this lifetime, I have no intention of seeking another path."
Bonnie was loyal, but Lane was even more so.
Zane glanced at Lane and didn't say more. "Did Brandon call you?"
Their group had become a circle of friends over time, so for a significant event like a wedding, both
Brandon and Sandy naturally invited Lane.
Lane nodded. "I just wrapped up a case yesterday. Had no idea you guys were coming today too."
"Staring at Bonnie all the time, you couldn't possibly not know we were coming."
"Actually, I didn't. I've been so busy these days that I barely had time to contact Bonnie."
Zane looked at Lane and asked, "How long have you been at this?"
"Three days. I've only had about half an hour of sleep, and I've eaten twice."
"Respect."
Lane chuckled, didn't say more, and turned to play with Mles.
When Bonnie and Yanis emerged from the restroom, they saw Zane standing empty-handed.
"Where's Mles?" Yanis immediately got anxious when she didn't see Mles.
Zane stepped forward to support Yanis. "Lawyer Phillips is holding her."
Upon hearing this, Yanis felt relieved. "You scared me. I thought you left Mles somewhere."
Zane thought to himself that he actually had considered it earlier. Of course, he wouldn't say that to
Yanis.
After hearing Zane's explanation, Bonnie looked at Lane playing with Mles and raised an eyebrow. She
walked over.
When Lane saw Bonnie, he smiled. "Hey there."
"What are you doing here?" Bonnie looked surprised.
"Just finished a case yesterday. I thought you guys were coming early."
Bonnie reached out to hold Mles, but Mles ignored her and stayed nestled against Lane's shoulder.
Bonnie withdrew her hand and said softly, "Yanis had a prenatal check-up yesterday, so I waited for
her."
Lane nodded. "I'll hold Mles. You take a break."
"Alright." Bonnie agreed.Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
After all, even if she wanted to hold Mles, it didn't mean Mles would want to be with her.
Today, Brandon had arranged for Berton to pick up Zane's group.
"Mr. Lawrence, Mrs. Lawrence," Berton warmly greeted Zane and Yanis as they approached.
He then turned to Bonnie and Lane as they came out from behind. "Miss Maya, Lawyer Phillips."
After exchanging greetings, Berton guided them to the hotel. Many of the hotel's occupants were
guests attending Brandon and Sandy's wedding.
Yanis was tired, so she and Zane returned to their room to rest for a while.
"Aren't you eating anything?" After hearing Yanis, Bonnie looked at her and asked softly.
Yanis shook her head. "I want to rest a bit. We can join Sandy and the others later."
"Alright, rest in your room for a bit. I'll take Mles to eat something."
They parted ways at the elevator.
Zane and Yanis went upstairs to their room.
Lane accompanied Bonnie to the restaurant.
Brandon and Sandy had invited many people to the wedding, and familiar faces could be seen
throughout the hotel.
After Brandon's call, Sandy turned around and saw Anthony approaching.
Putting her phone away, she greeted Anthony with a smile. "Is your room comfortable? Do you need
me to arrange a better one?"
Anthony waved his hand. "No need. Once the door is closed, no one can disturb anyone."
Sandy accepted his response and didn't press further.
"I got this for you."
Anthony handed Sandy an exquisitely wrapped gift bag.
Sandy looked at the bag he handed her. "What's this?"
"A wedding gift."
Sandy reached out and took the bag. "Thank you."
Anthony looked at her. "I've always wanted to ask you something."
"What?"
"If it weren't for Mr. Hawkins, and we had met sooner, would things have turned out differently now?"
Sandy could sense the undertone in Anthony's words. "Maybe."
If she hadn't met Brandon first and had met Anthony instead, given his kindness and impeccable
actions, she might have chosen Anthony. After all, Anthony had been very good to her, every detail
taken care of.
Anthony smiled, gently touched her hair, and said warmly, "Then I hope that in the next life, I'll meet
you sooner than Mr. Hawkins did."
Sandy nodded. "If there's a next life."
Anthony hummed in agreement. "Now go, take care."
Sandy nodded again, bid farewell to Anthony, and walked away.
Anthony stood still, watching Sandy's figure disappear from his view. Only then did he retract his gaze,
gently moving the fingers that had touched Sandy's hair.
They were fated to remain at the current stage. This lifetime, they couldn't progress any further.
Anthony stood there for a while until Hiruma called. He answered the call and walked away.
Sandy returned to her room and placed the items on the bed.
Stella glanced at her. "What's wrong?"
"Anthony gave me a wedding gift."
Stella looked at the items on the bed. "And you're not happy?"
Sandy shook her head. "It's not that. It's just... I can't quite put it into words."
Stella walked over and picked up the gift box. "You're not even going to look?"
Sandy's gaze followed Stella's hand. "Could you open it for me?"
"It's for you. You won't open your own gift?"
Sandy sighed. "Alright, give it here. Let me take a look."
When she saw what was inside, she furrowed her brows. "Property deed?"
"He really wants to give you a home."
Sandy sighed again. "This is too precious."
The property was in Viteto, in the best area possible. It was worth millions, at the very least. And
everything was under her name.
Sandy stared at it for a while
, then picked up her phone and dialed Anthony's number.
Anthony answered quickly. "What's up?"
"Anthony, this wedding gift, is it too valuable?"
"As a friend, I want to give you something special for your wedding. Would you refuse?"
"I..."
"Sandy, once was enough for you to reject me. If you do it again, I might cry."
Sandy was about to speak but was softly interrupted by Anthony.
